TRS-80 photo[edit]

Hi -- The info about the permission to use the TRS-80 photo really belongs on its description page,, and we really need more information: who owns the copyright, and what kind of permission they gave. Specifically, it's important to know whether commercial use is allowed, and thether there's a particular license.--Bcrowell 20:58, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • I added all the information to the description page. How's it look?
    • Looks great!--Bcrowell 22:20, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Phenomenal job cleaning that article up. It looks tremendous now. Fernando Rizo T/C 23:39, 29 July 2005 (UTC)

Bash (Unix shell)[edit]

Umm, you broke the link by adding " shell". The edit was unnecessary at the time when it was done, so I had rolled it back. Someone created that redirect in the meantime. --Joy [shallot] 20:50, 19 August 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for replying. I actually removed the ' shell' to fix the redlink. I suspect that the redirect may have been in flux when you did the revert. No harm done, it all looks good now. Gbeeker 21:16, 22 August 2005 (UTC)

Classic Rock[edit]

Hello. I was wondering if you would like to participate in my classic rock survey. I'm trying to find the most like classic rock song. There is more information on my user page. Hope you participate! RENTASTRAWBERRY FOR LET? röck 00:47, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

I found you because you have a link to CSNY on the page you made. Every link is tracked. Also, I'm not going to input your songs in until tomorrow. RENTASTRAWBERRY FOR LET? röck 04:47, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

See also sections[edit]

Please stop. If you really think that this is important, please mention it in articles about the song or album, not the performer. Jkelly 05:44, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

That was a very reasonable way to go about things. I maintain that it makes more sense for the link to go in the article about the album that the song appeared on, or in the article about that song if the song is notable enough to have one, but other editors may well appreciate the opportunity to work it into the performer's article. Thanks, and happy editing. Jkelly 04:06, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

List of albums with...[edit]

List of albums with particularly long titles was just created! thanks for the inspiration. I hope it grows as large as your other list has. -Myxomatosis 08:34, 14 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi! Your article List of songs with particularly long titles has been nominated for deletion. Just thought you might want to know. The Disco King 20:19, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

Wiktionary vs. Wiktionarypar template at Integrity[edit]

You reverted one of my recent changes on the Integrity article. I had changed {{wiktionarypar|Integrity}} to {{wiktionary|integrity}}. My reasoning for making this change was:

  • article titles in wiktionary are now lowercase, which differs from wikipedia, in which the titles are upper case; therefore, linking to Wiktionary:Integrity redirects to Wiktionary:integrity. This means that {{wiktionarypar|Integrity}} points at a redirect in Wiktionary instead of an article.
  • the wiktionary template was altered in the past few months to support piped parameters and, therefore, has rendered wiktionarypar redundant for most intents and purposes.
  • {{wiktionarypar|Integrity}} is identical in effect to {{wiktionary}}, if in fact you intended to point at Wiktionary:Integrity instead of Wiktionary:integrity.

I would be interested to know the reasoning underlying your reversion of my edit. Regards, User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 00:20, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

My apologies. I had intended to only revert this edit, but appearently reverted yours, also. If you haven't already, please make your edit as you like. -- Gbeeker 21:36, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your note on my talk page. I've made the edit to Integrity as discussed. Regards, User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 21:42, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

Tally box on AfD page[edit]

I've removed your postings of a tally box on the AfD page for the long song titles article. It is considered against AfD etiquette to add one; see WP:AFD#AfD_etiquette. No big deal, as the closing admin will look at all votes before deciding (and it sure appears that this vote will end in "no concensus, default keep".) lowercase 04:57, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

Favorite Songs[edit]

My survey has changed. I am now continuing my mission for the best songs, but now I am accepting all genres. I'm giving you a chance to revote for your top ten favorite songs of any genres (not just classic rock which is still the best). I've made a executive decision to keep the existing survey results and just add on to that with the new entries. My feeling for doing this is because classic rock is the most influential genre in music currently so it should be expressed more in the survey. Thank you for contributing in the past, and hopefully in the future. ROCK ON. RENTASTRAWBERRY FOR LET? röck 03:25, 9 June 2006 (UTC)

Edits don't work[edit]

I followed these instructions: his tool does not work with Internet Explorer.

  1. Open your user javascript file (most often monobook.js).
  2. Edit the page and copy-and-paste the code below.
  3. Go to User:Interiot/Tool2/code.js.
  4. Press the "control" and "F5" buttons on your keyboard at the same time (the page will now refresh).
  5. Enter your username into the box and choose "submit".
  6. Your edit count should appear!

and when I refresh (if FF or IE) all I see is code. Can you help? Rlevse 21:12, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

The back-up edit counter doesn't seem to currently work with Internet Explorer, although it should be fixed soon. In the meantime, you can get Firefox or ask someone else to check for you. --Gbeeker 03:03, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
Thanks. But, one last issue. On the article tab of my monobook, the code looks "broken" (ex: you can't see the refresh directions, dotted lines are there, etc), but if you view if by selecting it in history, it looks fine. What is causing this? Interestingly, the programs work. Rlevse

for saving User:Gbeeker/List of songs with particularly long titles.

I was away for a while and very PO'd when it got deleted. Particularly as it is very useful in determining the limits music playing software needs to be able to handle - see [1]. EdC 19:58, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Wondering - how would one go about reinstating it? The AfD was clearly a hatchet job; half the comments are factually flawed and the other half are pure deletionist. EdC 22:29, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the link on bugzilla. The article actually was created again, and deleted again. *List of songs with particularly long titles - deleted for the 2nd time. --Gbeeker 08:13, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

You may be interested in User:Audacity/Userboxes/WSPQ, which is a replacement for the old Political Chart userbox. The new userbox takes the two variables (economic and personal freedom), calculates which political alignment they place you into (Statist, Libertarian, Liberal, Centrist, or Conservative), and links your userpage to the appropriate category.

long song titles - preserved[edit]

I saw your comment on the VFD for List of long song titles, and thought you might like to see the old list in table format. I saved it on one of my user pages. --Gbeeker 07:08, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Hello, Gbeeker. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:Bosco.png) was found at the following location: User:Gbeeker/Favorite Arcade Games. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 07:01, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Non-free use disputed for Image:Talking Heads - Speaking in Tongues.jpg[edit]

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Talking Heads - Speaking in Tongues.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:27, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:CRACKED 31 Sep 63.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:CRACKED 31 Sep 63.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Guest9999 (talk) 16:13, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.

For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 19:42, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
