Welcome
[edit]Hello, Germanboi87 and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears you are participating in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to go through our training for students.
If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}}
before the question. Please also read this helpful advice for students.
Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.
Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, and if your class doesn't already have one please tell your instructor about that. It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}}
on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and aid your communication with them.
We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay even after your assignment is finished! Dr Aaij (talk) 01:17, 20 August 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you! I am really looking forward to working with you in this class and hopefully learn a lot of new things. Germanboi87 (talk) 21:03, 23 August 2018 (UTC)

Guess what: Baseball in Germany does not exist. Write it! and you can practice by improving Baseball in the Netherlands, which is badly in need of sources—but it will give you an idea of what you can do. I'm serious—grab it. I have no doubt you can do that and land it on the front page. 2600:6C58:607F:F8F1:0:A75A:E20E:138 (talk) 17:44, 22 August 2018 (UTC)
- I just discovered that I can reply to your message directly and do not have to write a new message. Thank you again for that idea! Germanboi87 (talk) 15:44, 23 August 2018 (UTC)
- Right on. This is how one learns. Ha, yes--what a coincidence that we wouldn't have that article when you are in my class. Dr Aaij (talk) 01:15, 24 August 2018 (UTC)
- Who proposed writing the article about Baseball in Germany? I just realized it was neither you or Shalor. @Dr Aaij: Germanboi87 (talk) 21:11, 25 August 2018 (UTC)
- Hmm good question. I'm going to go with a good angel. Dr Aaij (talk) 14:17, 27 August 2018 (UTC)

Big thank you
[edit]Thank you very much for that idea, I will look right into it! Germanboi87 (talk) 15:38, 23 August 2018 (UTC)
- And I also just discovered that I could have used a ping to tag you. I guess learning new things all the time is part of the process. @Shalor (Wiki Ed): Please let me know if this worked and whether or not you received a notification. Germanboi87 (talk) 15:54, 23 August 2018 (UTC)
- Alright, that ping to Shalor (Wiki Ed) probably didn't work--you had to make a few corrections. And if you have to make such corrections and you're trying to ping, you need to resign, meaning you have to basically delete your signature and add the four tildes again... I had to learn that the hard way. Dr Aaij (talk) 01:17, 24 August 2018 (UTC)
- Alright, let's try it again. @Shalor (Wiki Ed): @Dr Aaij: Germanboi87 (talk) 21:02, 25 August 2018 (UTC)
- It worked this time! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 13:14, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
Sourcing
[edit]Hi! Good work on the Neuenburg am Rhein article - just make sure that you add sourcing to the article that backs up the added material! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:18, 27 September 2018 (UTC)
- I assume you got this done? Germanboi, if you add some relevant text from one of those JSTOR articles this week, you can still get points for the draft. What you might do is start writing the introduction to the history section by writing a paragraph on the US export of baseball, including the passages from two articles that we looked at. Dr Aaij (talk) 04:25, 4 October 2018 (UTC)
DYK
[edit]Nice job on the hook for the DYK nomination and for remembering the source! My only note would be to maybe tweak the sentence a little for flow. I'll defer to Dr Aaij on that, though. ReaderofthePack (。◕‿◕。) 19:15, 15 October 2018 (UTC)

DYK for Baseball in Germany
[edit]On 13 November 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Baseball in Germany, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the first official baseball game in Germany took place under the Nazi regime at the 1936 Summer Olympics? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Baseball in Germany. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Baseball in Germany), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
