Disambiguation link notification for February 1
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Morisco, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Sunna. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

DYK for Ahmad ibn Abi Jum'ah
On 6 February 2016, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Ahmad ibn Abi Jum'ah, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Islamic law scholar Ahmad ibn Abi Jum'ah likely did not issue the commonly named Oran fatwa in the city of Oran, but rather in Fez? You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |

Oran fatwa
Hello, HaEr48. This is a courtesy notice that the copy edit you requested for Oran fatwa at the Guild of Copy Editors requests page is now complete. All feedback welcome! Corinne (talk) 23:42, 15 February 2016 (UTC) |
HaEr48, I discussed the lead with Jonesey95 at User talk:Jonesey95#Oran fatwa, and we agreed that the lead contained some unnecessary repetition. Jonesey95 also thought there was too much detail in the lead. So I removed the repetition and some details. I think the lead is more concise and perhaps more the right length for the size of the article. If you think some of the detail ought to be put back, let me know and I'll try to work it in to the sentences (or you can do it). Perhaps the phrase "responsum fatwa" can be explained in its own short paragraph (as suggested by Jonesey95) in the body of the article. Also, can you check to be sure the references are correct since I did a little cutting and re-arranging. I saw there were two references from the same author, with one from 2005 and the other from 2007, both page 60 though. I cut one out, but don't know if I cut the right one out, or if both are still needed.
Also, I cut out the month in which the fatwa was issued. You might add that somewhere in the body of the article. Corinne (talk) 01:06, 17 February 2016 (UTC)
- @Corinne: Thank you Corinne for the copy-editing. Your shortening of the lead looks good to me. As for sources, I think you did the correct thing there. I guess you refer to Harvey 2005 p.60, and that is the correct one. There is no Harvey 2007, if there was probably I entered it by mistake. Again, thanks for doing this! HaEr48 (talk) 02:27, 17 February 2016 (UTC)
- You're welcome! You can see what I deleted in the revision history. I'll keep watching the article, so if you add material, I'll look it over. The article was interesting. Corinne (talk) 02:35, 17 February 2016 (UTC)
