If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on John Gilhooly, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Ways to improve John Gilhooly[edit]

Hello, Icam123,

Thanks for creating John Gilhooly! I edit here too, under the username Slatersteven and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:-

Needs a lot of work, we need sourcing, and a lot more info. Also it is written to informally and in a way that indicate over familiarity.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Slatersteven}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

Editing[edit]

Please take the time to learn how to add references to an article. At minimum, instead of [https://wigmore-hall.org.uk/song-competition/2019-songcompetition] please use <ref>https://wigmore-hall.org.uk/song-competition/2019-songcompetition</ref>, etc. Preferably, make a proper reference giving title, date, access-date if a website, etc, like this: <ref name="wigmore-song-comp">{{cite web |title=The 2019 Wigmore Hall/Independent Opera International Song Competition |url=https://wigmore-hall.org.uk/song-competition/2019-songcompetition |publisher=Wigmore Hall |accessdate=13 May 2019}}</ref>. And please make sure that your reference supports the statement: you added a source to the statement "He studied singing under Veronica Dunne" which did not support this statement. When editing articles about living people we need to be scrupulously careful that every statement is supported by reliable independent published sources. Thanks. PamD 21:54, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please read the above, and stop adding malformed references to John Gilhooly. Your editing is becomoing disruptive, as other editors need to clean up the mess you continue to make, to protect the encyclopedia. Please stop adding bare URLs in square brackets: those are not references. Please read Help:Referencing for beginners. Thanks. PamD 14:35, 14 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

May 2019[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in John Gilhooly, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Please take the trouble to learn how to cite references properly, as has already been explained to you. PamD 14:36, 14 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This is a first official warning in the system of user warnings. If you continue to edit in this mildly disruptive way you are likely to get further warnings and this could lead to you being blocked from editing. PamD 14:56, 14 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest?[edit]

I notice that all your edits are about John Gilhooly or his workplace Wigmore Hall. If you are he, or a friend, family member, business associate etc then you should not edit his page or about him; if you are editing as part of your paid employment or otherwise paid to edit you must declare this. See WP:COI and WP:PAID. Thanks. PamD 14:55, 14 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
