Please do not simply copy and paste from the copyright site here. It is against Wikipedia rules. If I am mistaken, let me know if you have questions or concerns. Thank you. Gflores Talk 02:49, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your effort to contribute; it truly is appreciated. You are encouraged to contribute, but within the policies of Wikipedia. I've seen your edits, they're good work. Keep it up! :-) Gflores Talk 02:58, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Magic! I suspected it b/c a lot of text was added and none of it was wikified. I just copied the text into yahoo search and it came up with that site with the same text. Why do you ask? ;) Gflores Talk 03:19, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This is about your comment...

This is a serious admission. Copyright material should not be added to Wikipedia. If you add copyright material again you will be blocked. This is your final warning.--Commander Keane 03:48, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, thankyou for being honest. You can help by looking at your contributions and removing any copyright material you added. Lots of new users get confused about including copyright material - I don't hold it aginst you.--Commander Keane 03:53, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please see WP:NOT. Your edit to Dronacharya Award is not appropriate to an encyclopedia and hence, I would be reverting them. I believe no one has welcomed you in a formal way, with important links - and this may be a reason for your edit to the said article, despite some good contribs. So, here goes:

Welcome!

Hello, Jakken, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome!

Of coarse He's Jimbo...

[edit]

Im sure you are aware but Jimbo is a very busy man, and doesnt have the extra time to go around answering silly questions such as this. He is busy building something great...If you want to be considered a valuable member of this community, I would recomend not asking silly questions and concentrate on how you can make this a better encyclopedia. pickelbarrel 19:24, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry about the above, that's just rude. Yes User:Jimbo Wales really is Jimmy Wales. Prodego talk 20:06, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I notice you have a lot of userboxes, and while we're on the topic of Jimbo, he requests:

I wonder if you might consider simply removing your political/religious/etc. userboxes and asking others to do the same. This seems to me to be the best way to quickly and easily end the userbox wars.

Userboxes of a political or, more broadly, polemical, nature are bad for the project. They are attractive to the wrong kinds of people, and they give visitors the wrong idea of what it means to be a Wikipedian.

I think rather than us having to go through a mass deletion (which is what is likely to happen if the userbox fad doesn't go away), it will be better to simply change the culture, one person at a time. Will you help me?

on the top of his talk page. Note this is in no way mandatory. And I am sure pickelbarrel just made a mistake, he hasn't been an editor here much longer then you have.

British spelling vs American spelling

[edit]

About your edit to Australian Broadcasting Corporation. It is against Wikipedia guidelines (Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#National_varieties_of_English) to change spelling from British to American. If you find a particular spelling, you must leave it. Also, if a page is about an Australian topic then it will have Australian spelling. I have reverted your change. If you can think of any other edit where you incorrectly changed the spelling let me know - and I'll revert those too. This is also a warning, if you continue to change spellings spelling you will be blocked.--Commander Keane 23:29, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

spelling

[edit]

Do NOT go around WP converting spelling to the US variety, unless the article concerns a clearly American subject or was begun with US spelling. Do you realise that there are places outside the US? Tony 08:36, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

American English

[edit]

"This user believes that American English is the only real English, and will likely respond to any use of British English with "How quaint!""

OK, fine. But what makes you think it is right to impose your view on pages likely to be read by British speaking readers, e.g. Australian Broadcasting Corporation? We use mostly British English in Australia, particularly with regard to spelling. Now we have "center" and "organization" all over a page about something unique to Australia, and it grates every time I read it.
Still, that's your right. God bless America. --Mike Van Emmerik 23:14, 8 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That doesn't change the fact that i am blocked, maybe they blocked someone with the same ip as me? Jakken 03:23, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jakken, if you are still blocked could you tell me exactly what the block message says (when you try to edit a page)?--Commander Keane 03:31, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Your user name or IP address has been blocked from editing
You were blocked by Anonymous editor
Reason given: vandalism (see our blocking policy)
And even if you can't unblock me i would just like to know how long till i am unblocked Jakken 03:35, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You may have been affected by an auto-block. --Ixfd64 11:29, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Are you still blocked? If you are copy and paste the exact block message. It should something like: "Your user name or IP address has been blocked from editing You were blocked by **** Reason given: Autoblocked because your IP address has been recently used by "****". The reason given for ****'s block is: "****...". (see our blocking policy)".--Commander Keane 11:55, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Chuse"

[edit]

It's old spelling that I ran across in the Federal Constitution, so I used it. Also, I think the standard is "choose", not "chose". Thanx 68.39.174.238 02:40, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image Tagging Image:Badvirus.gif

[edit]
Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Badvirus.gif. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. - CrazyRussian talk/contribs/email 17:49, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much for the walrus. LaszloWalrus 01:45, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I took the stuff off because I decided I didn't want polemical user boxes. I still retain enough information, in my view, for people to know where I'm coming from. I've also kept the walrus. LaszloWalrus 00:17, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Chis1461.small.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
