Thanks for reminding me!

I had to run out before making my official decision on that page yesterday. He's not a complete nobody but I couldn't find anything that showed notability enough for an article. I'd forgotten to vote, so thanks for reminding me!Tokyogirl79 (talk) 08:23, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

I'm glad my note was useful. I wanted to be sure that the reason for tagging it as an autobiography was clear, since you edited the page quite a lot. I suppose that tag can be removed now. I usually don't look at talk pages of articles very much so I thought I should point out that I had added the discussion there. It's my opinion that the reviews on Amazon.com for this author are "astroturfing". JoshuSasori (talk) 08:28, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

Why would we get unnecessary to and fro from just speedying the thing? Dlohcierekim 01:56, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

About 210.89.228.55

Hello. About 210.89.228.55 , the reply was written on my talk page. Since it is a text using a translation tool, it may be hard to read. If you know suitable management, may I leave it to you? --125.205.77.232 (talk) 08:14, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I just wanted to say thank you for your comments at Wikipedia:Peer_review/Down_syndrome/archive2 - I've made a bunch of edits of the article and responded on the PR page - thanks again, and do let me know if you have any more comments.

Hello, JoshuSasori. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Kōji_Ishizaka, for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. If you don't want Kōji_Ishizaka to be deleted, please add a reference to the article.

If you need help doing so, you can leave a note on my talk page.

Thanks, ♠♠ BanëJ ♠♠ (Talk) 06:25, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, I should have done something with that article a long time ago but got distracted and forgot about it. I've added two references, one is in English and very clearly establishes notability and bona-fides of article contents. JoshuSasori (talk) 06:46, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

Notice of Dispute resolution discussion

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard regarding a content dispute in which you may have been involved. Content disputes can hold up article development, therefore we request your participation in the discussion to help find a resolution. The thread is "[[Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard#Onibaba|Onibaba]]". Thank you! EarwigBot operator / talk 09:02, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi there. Can you explain what you mean with this edit? Are you saying the names need to be alphabetized, or re-written with kana or kanji, or something else? Thanks. —Torchiest talkedits 01:49, 6 September 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, unclear editing and writing by me again. The names are in the order family/personal and should be reversed to personal/family, e.g. noriko nagayama not nagayama noriko. This is covered in the manual of style for Japan-related articles. JoshuSasori (talk) 01:51, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
Can you make the change? Most people who speak English as a first language are unfamiliar with that naming convention. —Torchiest talkedits 01:54, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
It is a very easy job. All that is required is to click on the wikilink for each cast member and see how the name is presented at the end of the redirect, and change the article to that form. JoshuSasori (talk) 01:58, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
Someone else took care of it, but for something that simple yet literally foreign to most editors, it would probably be faster if you just did it yourself, since no one looking at the copy edit tag would know what was being requested, and you have the personal knowledge and expertise to fix it properly. —Torchiest talkedits 11:52, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
It wasn't a personal attack. I simply pointed out two alternative ways of handling it that would have been less effort for all of us. --Stfg (talk) 14:10, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
Please stop adding messages to my talk page. You have no right to order me what to do. JoshuSasori (talk) 14:12, 6 September 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Kaneto Shindo, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mah-Jong (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Harv refs

Hi, why did you revert me? The harvard refs are not broken by my edit. --Redrose64 (talk) 22:04, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

I thought that the Harvard references (see Yasujiro Ozu) didn't work with the "date" format. However, it looks like they do work correctly with the "date=" format, judging from the page now, so it looks like I made a mistake. Thanks. JoshuSasori (talk) 22:08, 24 September 2012 (UTC)
If |date= contains a valid date (whether day month year; month day, year; or year-month-day), the code in the citation template can normally extract the year from it. However, an edit like this will break the harv ref links, because the |date= parameter does not contain a valid date. It's something that people do occasionally misunderstand - see various threads on my talk page such as User talk:Redrose64#day= is deprecated and User talk:Redrose64#Broken reference links (also other discussions on the talk pages for citation templates and harv templates).
Two or three times a month I go through Category:Pages containing cite templates with deprecated parameters and fix up the article and template pages listed there. Although more than nine different parameters can cause such categorisation, the "usual suspects" are |day= and |accessed=, with |access-date= not far behind. --Redrose64 (talk) 22:31, 24 September 2012 (UTC)
It's quite tricky to get these things right because it requires saving the template and then reinspecting the page each time. Probably my fault for putting a reference in a template. Thanks for the links. JoshuSasori (talk) 22:33, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

Shiguehiko Hasumi

Your recent editing history at Shiguehiko Hasumi shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. 123.224.121.75 (talk) 12:19, 29 September 2012 (UTC)

Bōryoku no Machi (title & citation)

You left a citation request, but I'm not sure what do I about this? In the wikipedia entry, the first line is "Bōryoku no Machi (ペン偽らず 暴力の街?) is a 1950 black-and-white Japanese film directed by Satsuo Yamamoto". Well, "暴力の街" is 'Boryoku no Machi' (city/town/streets of violence) and "ペン偽らず" is 'Pen Itsuwarazu' (pen never lies). I inserted a note that the full film title is Boryoku no Machi, Pen Itsuwarazu (ペン偽らず 暴力の街; lit: Streets of Violence, the Pen Never Lies) to explain the "ペン偽らず" part that appears in the first line of the Wikipedia entry of this film. If it were just Boryoku no Machi, then the title should be "暴力の街" only. Thanks. [edited: god, I shouldn't write this while nursing a hangover. Apologies.] 0zero9nine (talk) 14:18, 29 September 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, I have forgotten, that was a while ago. I think the citation needed was related to the title in Japanese being that. The article's top says one thing, and then the note says something else. So, it needs some kind of cleanup. JoshuSasori (talk) 15:26, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
P.S. Is it OK to cite a source if it's in Japanese? 0zero9nine (talk) 14:23, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
It's OK to cite a source in Japanese if it is a reliable source. JoshuSasori (talk) 15:25, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
