You now totally have soap. This soap is slippery, and thus good.

Well... thanks... I think. Even though I haven't written any bots, just an empty promise that I will someday... But if empty promises make me cool, that's... cool. Cool. --Keitei (talk) 09:25, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How to write bots?

[edit]

Can you direct me to information on how to write bots? (you can reply here, I've watchlisted you) Ideogram 08:46, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not really sure. I didn't write the medcab bot (my boyfriend did), and I usually just modify existing bots when I do play around with it. Pywikipedia is a good place to start for Wikipedia bots (see meta:pywikipedia). There's probably a wikibooks article on the Python programming language which many bots are written in. Sorry I can't be of much help! --Keitei (talk) 09:22, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Request Assignment of Cabal Mediation Case

[edit]

Hello, I am here to request that you take the case Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/2006-08-01 Fair Use Images on Sports Page - College Football Specific. It has been 4 days and the dispute continues down on several paths with little progress being made and I feel the earlier a mediator takes the case, the better. If you do not wish to take the case (I'm not sure I would want to be the mediator for this case) that is fine, just let me know so I can request another mediator. Thank you. --MECUtalk 15:00, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry it took me so long to respond... Sure, I'll take it. I'll have an ask around and see if I can get some legally inclined people to take a look. I meant to do that a few hours ago, but loads to do. So I'll probably be able to get some sort of answer by tomorrow, and if that is not enough, mediation can commence! Cheers. --Keitei (talk) 01:26, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have any power to stop or control the image removals or prevent further illogical (or perhaps unuseful) discussions that are occuring. I don't know what you're doing "behind the scenes" (I saw your note on Brad's talk page), but I think there is considerable ugrency to attempt to resolve this quickly, or at least get the wheels turning in an effort to remove and eliminate the useless (my POV) discussions occuring everywhere. (See Wikipedia talk:Logos#Enough for the latest) I and others are growing increasingly frustrated as time progresses since "the other side" seems unwilling to budge from the "it's policy, end of discussion" POV. --MECUtalk 19:17, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mediation Barnstar

[edit]
The Working Man's Barnstar
I present you with this Working Man's Barnstar for all your fantastic voluntary work with the Mediation Cabal...I mean, informal mediation. 'Cos we all know the cabal doesn't actually exist, right...? Killfest2Daniel.Bryant 05:25, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, it looks pretty good right now... maybe a good article nomination? I was spurned by them, but maybe you'll have better luck. Either way, it is a good article, and I like it, even if nobody else does. So, that's cool.--SB | T 07:41, 12 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

RE:McMaster University failed GA Nom

[edit]

Can you emphasize which parts declare "magazine, websites etc said such and such or an award was given or survey,?" It doesn't really make sense because citations are based on certain websites for support in a given fact or claim. 218.102.81.187 13:29, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry that the wording is so bad... it was rather late at night when I was writing that. I did (do) note that there were several statements given which should be referenced, of the sort that is an award I can specifically find "McMaster ranks as among the top 100 universities worldwide in the Times Higher Education Supplement rankings. It placed 3rd in Canada in the 2006 Shanghai Jiao Tong University world rankings of universities." in the introduction and "The university has been named Canada's most innovative medical-doctoral university eight times in the past 11 years by Maclean's in its annual ranking of Canadian universities." in the Academics (Research) section. There are two in-line citations further on in the research section, but at a glance it looks to be referring to another fact introduced after this one. Perhaps it's just unclear. Overall it is fairly well referenced, but there are a few definitive statements that sound to me like they should be sourced. Hope that's a little more clear--Keitei (talk) 13:50, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lost mediation

[edit]

Keitei, would you be willing to act as a substitute mediator? You did an absolutely superb job on the Polish monarchs issue, and I trust your judgment. The current situation is this: A longrunning (though fairly civil) disagreement about how to organize episode articles for the Lost television series (one side wants individual episode articles, the other side wants compilations in "season" articles), finally went to mediation in July. But a couple weeks into it, the mediator went on wikibreak, without handing things off. We've been waiting weeks for him to return, and have contacted Essjay and requested help via WP:AN, but so far haven't gotten any response, and the frustration level is running very high. We really need help. Would you be willing to at least pop in and offer an opinion? The current discussion is at Wikipedia talk:Requests for mediation/Lost episodes.
