Tesla

You cannot apply same rules on Edison and Tesla. Besides that Edison stole ideas and patents from Tesla - Tesla was in America just another immigrant born in a region were many facts are even now being disputed. He was not not just Serb, nor "Austro-Hungarian", nor just born in Croatia, and he was not just an American... so why can't you leave it be? His nationality and his place of birth are listed in his bio..., and everything is clearly explained within article... Sorry, I made a stupid mistake. I copied the Audio template from the Croatia article and indended to replace it with this recording I had made earlier for the Serbia article, but I seem to have forgotten that detail and left the Hrvatska recording from the Croatia article. No source is perfect :), Wikipedia is so far one of the more neutral sources of information, and this is why I have decided to help out. I have been reading texts from it as a hobby for a few years now, and most of the articles are pretty OK. I was shocked to see that Yugoslavia was in such bad shape, I hope I fixed that at least to an acceptable level. It still pains be to see some users from the Former Yugoslavia (mostly from Serbia, Croatia and Bosnia) "at each others throats". The wars have been over for over 10 years, but it's still fresh. Before you started changing too many Spanish club names, please note the following; Real Madrid were originally known as Madrid FC and did not add the Real until 1920. During the Spanish Second Republic the club dropped Real from their name and were known as Madrid CF . In 1941 a decree issued by Franco banned the use of non-Spanish language names. FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC thus became CF Barcelona and Sevilla CF and Athletic Bilbao changed the spelling of their prefix to Atlético. RCD Espanyol were known as RCD Español until 1995. Flags

Since Serbia-Montenegro do not exist any more, its flag should not be used for anything. If one team represent only Serbia, then flag of Serbia should be used for it, if it represent only Montenegro, then only flag of Montenegro, but if it represent both, then both flags (flag of Serbia and flag of Montenegro) should be used, but flag of former country is something that we should not use. Serbia National Team

Thanks for the Trisovic fix. I also noticed that you update the Serbia national team site regularly and wanted you to take note of how I did the Ukrainian national team current player's section myself. It's based on the England national football team page and in my opinion a lot clearer and easier to follow than whats currently on the Serbia page. Drazen Petrovic

Wolff's article has two pages. The text supporting the claim that Drazen resented Divac's handling of the Croatian flag is mentioned on the second page. Read carefully how I describe the incident and revert to my last version of the article, because what I wrote is supported in Wolff's piece. Damir 06:02, 6 September 2006 (UTC)

First of all, the article is not about Divac, it's about Petrović; a section in "Vlade Divac" article named "What Divac thought of feud with Dražen Petrović" would be the appropriate place for your addendum. More importantly, the portion of the article in question deals with a particular event, the finals of the 1990 World Championship and the post-game celebration that ensued; Divac's opinion has nothing to do with that event, while Petrović's does. Not to mention that the claim about WHEN Petrović stopped returning Divac's calls cannot be verified on account of the tiny issue of Dražen being dead and not able to defend himself. Wolff's good intentions aren't in question, even if he is just slightly misinformed. Like I said, Divac's opinion doesn't belong there because it has nothing to do with 1990 WC finals; listing it in "Vlade Divac" article would be appropriate. My comment portrays Petrović's state of mind and his experience of the event - because the focus is the event and because the article is about Petrović. How that can be considered POV is beyond me, since I am talking about something he FELT and COMMUNICATED, as is clearly stated. What Divac felt and communicated is equally important - it just doesn't belong THERE. The statement, originally, communicated only that there was once a friendship between them and there wasn't anymore; Divac's role in the feud wasn't even specified, only Petrović's state of mind. The purpose of the whole statement is to reflect how these political tensions echoed in the moment of Petrović's greatest joy and were imprinted in his mind. Even when a description of the incident was introduced by a third contributor, I edited it to reflect the fact that Divac felt provoked at the moment he acted - i.e. I was mindful of his mental state because it was relevant to the event of 1990 WC finals. Alas, despite my good intentions, I just don't have the stomach or resources to be bullied in edit wars with every pro-Serb contributor/administrator on Wiki. Damir 20:26, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

It's POV because you are only presenting one view where the statement is made. Saying that one side is worth presenting, but the other is not is clearly not NPOV. You're and painting a one-sided picture of this 'political tension', one must represent all significant views fairly and without bias. "All significant published points of view are presented, not just the most popular one. It should not be asserted that the most popular view or some sort of intermediate view among the different views is the correct one. Readers are left to form their own opinions." This is not bullying by a 'pro-Serb' contributor, it is simply correct to state both views, and this is a fundamental policy of Wikipedia. // Laughing Man 20:56, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

How is it that a person reporting their own feelings (in this case, Petrović talking about Petrović's feelings) needs to be scrutinized identically to a third person commenting on someone's thoughts (in this case, Divac talking about Petrović's thoughts)? The article had clearly stated that Petrović referred to that incident as a reason for cessation of friendship - it did not argue that this was indeed the reason why the friendship ceased to be: that is something that could be argued and supported or discredited with opinions of others, but not what Petrović said about it. I'm not "painting a picture" of the political tension, just reminding that tension existed - the same way someone could add how Divac felt through that period in the "Vlade Divac" article without there being a need to present the opinion of every other person in the world on the topic of Divac's thoughts, as long as it is specified that what is written are thoughts of Vlade Divac recorded by a third party, and not a third party's conclusions or theories. Re: Timeline The timeline was not so "brief" and it was really messy. I tried to remove everything but the most important milestones, and along it many POV statements. If you feel I removed something important, please add it back to the article using a clean, telegraphic style - I really think it's more appropriate. I'll work on it some more, so you can wait and see how that turns out. But please, let's move forward and not back. If that's the case, you might be interested to know that Serbian Wikipedia is available in the Roman script as well. Really, that´s not an original one, and not italian too, but french. But now it is, the yugoslavian one, uploaded from the site you showed me. The US poster isn't appropriate for wiki en, about foreign films, this is not an US wiki, but english language wiki. Poster for foreign films aren't the same in US, UK or Australia. Then, the appropriate is we have the original one, ever than possible, because is accurate and historic.

Almost all Cannes Festival winners films are with its original posters here. This is an enciclopedia and we must be as exact as we can. And that poster isn't even a film poster but a DVD cover. And the writings aren't about a DVD, but the film. The same thing about When Father was Away. An US DVD Cover as leading poster for a serbian movie picture when we have the original? Hi Laughing Man, As I get the impression that there is an edit war unfolding, I took the liberty to jump in. I have edited the infobox to quote directly from the NATO press statement. Please note that the Casus Belli implies that "a government [needs] to demonstrate that it was going to war only as a last resort", therefore the non-acceptance of the Rambouillet terms is the casus belli, that what ultimately led to the war unfolding. Just tired of all the POV pushing, wasted energy, pointless arguments etc. There is too much shit to deal with. I spend 90% of my time here cleaning up shit which is promptly returned, and less than 10% writing something new. The point of Wikipedia has become Wikipedia itself to a large extent. I just don't feel that there's any point contributing under the present system - there remains a lot to be done, but I'll only do it when/if the system is fixed. I appreciate that Wikipedia is an open system, but it gives too much power to any old fucker with an internet connection. I've heard of Citizendium, hopefully it will deal with the problems, but I remain sceptical. The problem is that Wikipedia works becuase it's basically open to anyone with an internet connection, and yet that's the main problem. Striking a balance is bloody hard. I've been meaning to leave for a while now, but I always wanted to tie up just a few more loose ends. Now, when Belgrade has been the Main Page FA. is as good a time as any. He has not even responded to my talk requests so I am assuming that he either does not how, or perhaps does not have a good understanding of the English language. In any event, your actions of blocking this user are against the username policy or blocking policy (please point out where it states otherwise if these two Wikipedia policy pages are inaccurate), and I do not understand why you are delaying to unblock this user with the genuine possibility of alienating an editor who has done many positive contributions (in articles where we need editors). Well, the block would likely be endorsed—the user has only a few edits and such actions are fairly routine. The case should have been handled a bit more gently, though. Yes, the account was created at April 18th but wasn't used since, so it's disputable whether it counts as "an existing user". I'll try to explain him the situation more gently. Hi, I didn't reply at the time I should've, but I've remembered to do that now, seeing your contributions on the List of Serbian NBA players. That's exactly what I thought should have been done, but was too lazy to do it myself. Thanks.

I am familiar with the deal between Red Star and Real Madrid, but can't find any reliable source on the internet except for the one you've cited. The deal was signed last weekend, between Dragan Stojković and Predrag Mijatović, during the Stojkovic's visit to Spain, but some experts, such as Slaviša Jokanović, said this contract isn't as important as the management claims, so I am not sure what's its actual relevance. Officially, Red Star's younger coaches will be trained in Madrid, and Red Star's players from the youth categories will be tested by Real. The deal is probably more important as a part of the marketing campain ran by Stojkovic, than it can really help Red Star or Real. We can include it, though, at the end of the article, and when the deal proves its significance, we can put it in the opening section.

As for Radnicki, I can only say that, logically, there's no reason for double mention of Kragujevac in the article name, but I have no information on the subject. As far as I am concerned, it shoud be chaged, but I'm not absolutely certain.

Ah, I'm feeling very discouraged right now... PANONIAN keeps bothering me with the size of the template. He wants in 300px instead of 400px (which is used in the Europe and U.S. labelled template map)... I just don't know how to deal with this guy, he's not responding to reason. Please, do not remove external link Osijek Online because tis is very imortant portal. It is independent city portal created by voloteers of Osijek and exist for a 6 years. Meny people from outside of Croatia visit that portal and in my opinion it deserved to bee a as external link, rahter then still cammera of Jware company. Thnx. Usernames

I'm perfectly content with my actions, and the blocks allowed for new User IDs to be created. The names violated Username rules, and the blocks were correct. And how else do we get new users to create another User ID except by "biting" them when they first create their IDs? Wait till they've made tons of edits, then make them change? Well, the user in question (Mihailo.stojanovic@amis.net (talk · contribs · logs)) did not violate any rule, as the policy clearly states, "Existing usernames with the sign are not blocked, but editors should be encouraged to change their names"... There is nothing that clearly states otherwise except your ex post facto interpretation. I would not object with your actions if the user was not in good standing, or causing disruption, but this was not the case here. Your actions have alienated an editor with great potential since you just didn't give him a chance. For this particular user it seems as if it's too late since as the article domain the user was contributing to has had no activity since your block. Contributing to Wikipedia appears futile

Thank you for your comments Laughing Man. In contrast to Wikipedia, regular publishers are happy to publish original contributions or research, and it is also normal to be allowed to quote other sources already in existence. Given that Wikipedia neither appears happy to publish original research, nor information quoted (and referenced/sourced) from elsewhere, and the extraordinary negativity of many of its administrators, who appear to enjoy berating contributing individuals for their contributions to Wikipedia, and yet also appear to assume that it is my full time activity, when in fact I am busy with my own 'real' life of academic research, and only contribute as and when time allows, the conclusion that contributing to Wikipedia is a futile exercise, looms large. If this is how Wikipedia wishes to treat contributors, then Wikipedia's future is in doubt. I for one am appalled at User/Zoe's attitude towards my contributions, and feel deeply offended by User/Zoe's threats to block me from contributing/editing, it is not I who vandalises, it is User/Zoe (et al) who came along and vandalised many hours of my efforts to contribute in many fell swoops, repeatedly. It appears some are quick to criticise, and eager to delete the work of others, with scant regard for the time and effort that was freely given. You are the only person at Wikipedia who seems to talk any sense. Thank you for your suggestions and aid. I would be grateful if you could ensure (as you know I am trying to do) that all articles that I wrote and contributed, are deleted from Wikipedia, and that my user account is also deleted. Wikipedia's contribution rules are just too lunatic, for an academic researcher such as myself, who is used to being able to publish his findings. I am used to having my original academic research papers received with gratitude, warmth and delight. I am not used to a publisher suggesting that I am not a reliable source. It appears that User:Zoe does not understand the concept of original research being reliable, and if User:Zoe were in charge of all the publishers in the world, humanity's recorded knowledge would never have accumulated, as User:Zoe wouldn't even accept the first caveman to discover how to make fire as a reliable source, never mind a Phd Academic Researcher's reliablity as a source of original research. It is therefore serendipitous that professional publishers do understand that an academic researcher such as myself is a very reliable source. Adieu.

12 million Serbs

Laughing man, I understand that Serbs live in Serbia, but why are we using a statistic for citizens of Serbia that is incorrect. Why not just say that over 9.5 million Serbs exist but we don't know the exact number? Horvat Den 19:39, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

I believe that the Ministry for diaspora Republic of Serbia is a reliable source, and the numbers they supply is 7 million in Serbia and 4 million in diaspora. The current version with the range already reflects your concerns over the exact number not being known. Nobody is saying it isn't a reliable source -- it might be -- but the source isn't saying that 12 million ethnic Serbs exist in the world, you (or whoever added taht source) is deriving it for themselves through faulty means, probably unintentionally, but we still shouldn't keep it on there. diacritics in cats

Hi, yes I can definately help you out on this. The reason why I removed the diacritics from the categories is because it affects the sort key. For instance, if you have Örebro, Oslo and Ottawa for instance they should be sorted in that order, but if you put the Ö in the categories, this affects the order and they will be sorted as Oslo, Ottawa under the O, Örebro will be sorted under the Ö, after the Z and will as a result be totally misplaced according to where people expect it to be. Therefor we sort without diacritics. Now is the chance for a disorder with Danko Lazović almost nothing, but as these are the guidelines I think they should not be there. Ah you found the answer yourself :) Anyways, I don't know wheter a bot could easily do that kind of work, but I do know about User:Gene Nygaard who does a lot of work on making sure the articles have the right sorting key. I will just change and improve the articles whenever I come across them or when I see them happening on my watchlist, like in your case was the fact. I just changed nationality for Montenegrin players playing in Serbian League clubs.I've changed it only for players I'm absolutely sure are from Montenegro. However, I can make some stubs for those players in near future. And as far as my sources are concerned,they are mostly clubs' official websites and other footbal sites, and also I use my knowledge about European football, especially in MNE and SER... Cheers! Hi. I noticed some vandalism by User:BOSNA_U_SRCU_SRBIJA_U_KURCU, mostly of an anti-Serbian vain. Who can I ask to translate their user name? I don't speak the language it is in, but it may be a violation of Wikipedia:Username. If the "u" is a verb, it seems to say something like "Bosnia is X and Serbia is Y".
