Members of WikiProject edit counters, good news!
[edit]- Version 3.40 of Flcelloguy's Tool has been released: all edit summary bugs are quashed. Also, Version 4.00 is under development, and this version will allow for direct downloading of a user's contributions - copy the source code at the Java Sandbox and at bottom of the Tool's page to test out the new version. I've marked a few things that need to be done - if you're interested in doing any of them, please feel free to contact me. Titoxd(?!? - help us) 05:31, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit]I would like to see it as an article. I've placed my intention of what the subject should contain and why it is appropriate as an article on the deletion page you created. Terryeo 01:04, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for a quick reply. I did see you were doing janitor work, properly listing what you found to be improperly listed. I understand :) Interesting delineation you have created with this page Terryeo 01:24, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
I removed your copyvio tag from this article. Permission was granted on the talk page and I confirmed it via email. Feel free, however, to nominate it for deletion. Regards, howcheng {chat} 07:48, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
Speedy Deletion Tags
[edit]If I removed a speedy deletion tag, it was purely by accident. Which article are we talking about?

The link you sent didn't work. Could you describe it for me?
Czolgolz 19:41, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
Okay, but unless the article was about the Iraq war, I didn't edit it.

Anon Attacks
[edit]- You don't want to face the truth. You're applying double standards and you don't want to face the arguments. Instead you keep censoring your talk page in order to disguise your behaviour. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.151.181.249 (talk • contribs) 10:42, 13 February 2006.

Please do not add nonsense to my talk page anymore, and if you do, my talk page will be semi-protected. Thanks. --lightdarkness (talk) 15:25, 13 February 2006 (UTC)
I haven't added any nonsense to your page! Please stop raising these false allegations. Thank you.

Speedy keep
[edit]Since you know how to do the speedy delete (per Brian Cox..yadda), do you think this Societal attitudes towards homosexuality could be a speedy keep? There's one guy trying to delete an article that's been around since 2003. I'm trying to learn how to do this stuff and thought this would be a good opportunity to as someone who knows how to do this. --DanielCD 05:32, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
Wow. (blush).
But really, I'm not afraid to pick the brains of someone who might be able to teach me something, admin or no. Thanks for the response! --DanielCD 05:41, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
- I did think you were an admin at first; I think I looked in contribs and saw some rollbacks and made the assumption. Anyhow, it looks like I caught the debate at this article on the tail end anyway, as it was already timed out (5 days) and is now finished. Good luck with your wikiendeavors! --DanielCD 15:12, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
Yea, that will win us an additional week on the list. As long as it can get three votes a week, it will remain on the list. As others are reviewed or fail to get votes (and are hence removed) it will work its way to the top. So yes, your vote will add another week of time and increase the needed votes to six (the treshold at which another week will be rewarded). It's when an article fails to get three votes in a one week time period that it gets dropped off. And really, three votes a week should be needed to demonstrate interest.
I'm thinking such a key topic as this will survive, as I think we should have solid information on this (especially since it's a common Wikipedian affliction!) In addition, anything you might have to add as far as input at the article itself (even placing a missing period) would also be appreciated. Thanks for the note and interest! --DanielCD 01:49, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

Rorschach Inkblot Test
[edit]Hi - The Rorschach Inkblot Test page is rife with misinformation. Additionally, the image heading hte page is a copyright violation (Copyright held by Verlag Hans Huber, Switzerland) and is an ethical violation of test security.
I have written to Wikipedia about this, but received no response.
Importantly, there is so much misinformation on the page that it would be better to remove the whole thing. I will work up a better introduction. In the mean time, the current page must be scrapped for both ethical and lawful reasons.
Innocent people stand to be harmed by the misinformation on the page.
Thanks. -—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 4.155.195.18 (talk • contribs) 05:47, 19 February 2006.
WikiProject: DCOM
[edit]Hey lightdarkness, good to hear from you. *looks up WikiProject so he knows what they are* XD A WikiProject for the DCOMs? I'd be happy to be a part of that! I haven't watched very many of them (from the list, maybe four or five that I've seen most or all of) and don't have cable (meaning that my DC exposure comes in spurts as in when I, say, visit my grandparents), but I'd be willing to do general copy-edits (like adding IMDB links) for the ones I'm unfamiliar with.
For High School Musical, having it downloaded onto my computer has allowed me to do things like the plot outline (or the song descriptions on the Soundtrack page), and a healthy obsession with the movie has made me want to do so ^^. I do have The Even Stevens Movie on tape (haven't watch it all yet), and I'm pretty sure that my library carries some of the DVD's (e.g. Kim Possible: So the Drama), so... count me in! Think we'll be able to get 5-10 people involved? Weien 00:32, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
Reply: VIP vs AIV
[edit]Hi Ugur Basak. I noticed you added an entry to Vandalism in Progress. That page is only for very specific cases, as described by the page's guidelines. Your alert would be better placed on Administrator intervention against vandalism (WP:AIV), where it will usually be processed within minutes. Many alerts that are incorrectly placed on Vandalism in Progress are never dealt with, simply because they become old before an administrator gets to them. Thanks for your efforts. :) --lightdarkness (talk) 00:37, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks Lightdarkness. I was asking myself why noone block them:) I add it to my watchlist. Thanks for your help--Ugur Basak 00:58, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
Hey Lightdarkness, after recently reporting a vandal to WP:AIV I noticed you cleaning up some of the IP addresses from the WP:VIP page and overall trying to streamline the entire process. Great work! Thanks for working on this, as every now and then I have to take a time out from editing articles to request a spanking for some anonymous user :P TKarrde 01:35, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

AIV vs VIP
[edit]Yeah, I think I accidentally put my request on vandalism in progress because I was in a hurry and clicked the wrong link. Thanks for letting me know. I know WP:AIV is a lot faster as you can tell by looking at how long some of those requests have been on the VIP page. Thanks again. ¡Dustimagic! (T/C) 04:01, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
Sigh; I hadn't noticed that somewhere around December that AIV was created, and just mechanically did things the old way. Thanks for the heads-up. --moof 04:31, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Um, well, I thought I knew how to report vandalism, but I guess I didn't. Procedure must have changed, ne? In any case, thank you so much for stopping that. I'm supposed to be working on a paid job, but here I am frantically reverting a vandal. I couldn't bear for those pictures to be left up -- they were a direct insult to real living people. Re: AIV vs VIP
[edit][1]: Wow, I am here two years and didn't notice this page yet. Thanks.
The WP:VIP could be a bit more catchy on this: for me colored boxes (as the green one on VIP) got associated with someone's shouting to get more attention for a neglected topic. And I had learned to ignore them. Pavel Vozenilek 13:25, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
- Perhaps you may change that funny box to "Current vandalism? Go here ...", written by large font. (I won't, no time.) Pavel Vozenilek 13:32, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
Ya know, i spent around half hour trying to find the place where to report that vandal who was changing pages one after another every couple days for weeks already. Those guidelined and policies sometimes don't say directly what belongs there what not. So does a person who is busy (once every couple days counts as "in progress", doesn't it? Caus' person is 'still' busy - vandalism is 'still' in progress) changing pages counts as "In Progress" or not? Following my logic it was a vandal in progress and i reported it appropriately. That page
Administrator intervention against vandalism" i never found :/.
I think the reporting system needs improvement, something like a 3-step system: 1) IF vandal is active NOW, then report here... 2) IF vandal is active once every couple days, then here... etc. That way it would be much easier to understand where does it belongs to be reported... Robert 19:09, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
- So i was actually correct :P Vandalism was happening (quoting you): "who have been vandalising over many weeks, doing the same type of thing". He was doing the same type of thing - adding same type of lines (promoting his city and state) and making some subtle changes (changing dates, and other numbers). And he was, most likely, from static IP, caus' i did the trace and it traced to the residential address at an ISP. I stand by my decision to add the vandal to the page i added him to..

First Time User
[edit]Hi, Lightdarkness. I am not quite sure how to categorize the photo of the Orange Bowl I uploaded. I took the photo on vacation a couple of weeks ago, so I guess it is mine. I would like it to be shared by the Wikipedia community (GDFL), but I'm not sure how to categorize it. Also, I successfully uploaded it to the Orange Bowl Stadium page, but didn't save it because I didn't want to butcher the look of the page. I'm still in the trial and error stage.
Any advice you have would be helpful.

Running Late
[edit]Thanks for the advice, LD. I am running a little late and have to go to work, so when I get home tonight I will attempt to follow the instructions you've laid out. As far as the Orange Bowl page is concerned, I was able to upload the photo to the page without making the page look rediculous. I went to another wiki page, copied the edit code they used, and applied it to Orange Bowl. Worked like a charm.
I am a HUGE wiki fan and have a ton of photos to contribute from my travels. Hopefully you can keep an eye on me and walk me through any more problems should they arise.
Thanks again.
