If I had speedy listed it, somebody would have come along and removed the tag because it isn't one of the things listed on A7. I've had that happen many times before. That's why I listed it at AfD. Corvus cornix 02:25, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
Thanks
thanks for your offer to work a bit on Makuleke I would be grateful (you know how authors hate to tamper with their own work!). also re: the copyright issue. I have posted the licence on the original article, fixed the link and put a note on the talk page. Anything else I need to do? By the way, I'm originally from Georgia - Savannah actually.

Speedy Deletion
I added a speedy deletion tag to the article as there is no need for it, and is poorly written with very little fact or sources. It was not vandalism. Vandalism would be wanton disregard of any content and adding a tag to an article that is, without question, a valid article. Thanks Trodaikid1983 17:59, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
Sorry
Sorry, I will not do any more vandalism of that sort. Also, I did have more in it (the linux/windows thing was a joke for my co-worker) but, well, if you look at the "news" part it explains why it was so small. Anyhow, sorry, no more infractions, promise. Go ahead and delete this when you get it... I think this is how messaging works... I don't know... anyhow, back to programming. Also, if this isn't how you send message, put another thing in my discussion part to tell me it isn't. Else, I am just going on the assumption that I am doing this right. Dear L:
Thanks for the reply. Your reply got me interested -- what is a tethered modem?

- Thanks. What if I need fax capabilities in addition to dial-up Internet access, can tethered modem help me in that department? 129.97.225.195 03:34, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks again. What happens is that my parents don't know how to use email. So if they want to send any documents to me it must be done thru fax.
- Sorry I wasn't being very clear with my last comment. My parents are the sort of people who don't understand computers, period. :-) 129.97.225.195 19:04, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, actually, for the warning. I assume you saw my entry on the Help Desk, and I am glad you weighed in. I really do want to avoid edit warring and the like, but as I said I am somewhat ignorant of the ways of Wikipedia and could get myself in trouble. Hopefully now it has gained the attention of more informed editors than I. Eran of Arcadia 13:05, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
Reference Desk

I liked that :D SGGH speak! 19:26, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- Not sure I liked it, but certainly harmless. What I didn't like was "please pay attention to wikipedia policies when they are pointed out to you, such as WP:CIV and WP:SIG, you will be blocked if you do not follow them". I don't think block predictions belong at the reference desk. If at all, they can be addressed on the user's talk page. Just my take, you might disagree. ---Sluzzelin talk 22:44, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- I think it's fair to warn people of what could happen to them where they're making trouble, be that on a talk page or on their user page. I don't really mean "You" here, It's more like "anyone who", but there's no way to sound that that sounds right --L-- 22:49, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, I see your point, we get queries by all sorts of people who are no more familiar with policies than the average reader who doesn't edit. And of course, we get trolls too. I see the reference desk as one of Wikipedia's ambassadors (or maybe just figureheads), and expect a less officious and threatening, a more patient, and forgiving tone. I guess I'm a wikisofty here, and as pointed out, I don't expect everyone to agree. Peace. ---Sluzzelin talk 22:58, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Closing Afd
Thanks for helping out, but please remember to add a populated {{oldafdfull}} to the article's talk page so that people can quickly know that an afd has occurred for that article and look up the discussion. I did this for you at Sajeeb Wazed. Thanks again. Carlossuarez46 21:09, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
- If you still need to learn it, the easiest way is just to copy it from a prior exemplar and change the variables (and you can used Mr. Wazed's article as a source for future reference). Cheers. Carlossuarez46 21:16, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

I have mixed feelings about the content you're removing from Welcome to the Hellmouth. I'm not overly fond of the Translations section either, but maybe you should take it up with Project Buffyverse, as their template for creating Buffy episodes include many sections you've removed as unnecessary. Until the template is updated, it's likely that the sections will be re-added, possibly needing formatting and copy-editing all over again. Kweeket 00:35, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
- From what I've seen of the Buffy articles, they are total crap. Articles are not something you can just "template" together and leave empty sections for, each one requires thought and care, and though a template can be useful it should not be concrete. Anyway, I was only editing that to give a friend of mine who decided to join Wikipedia an idea of our policies and what stays and what goes. I personally have no interest in Buffy, although the state of every "buffyverse" article other than the main page for the series has shown me that the Wikiproject either doesn't care about making quality articles, or hasn't even tried --Lucid 00:43, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
- I agree that an article isn't something that can be "templated" together. However, the fact remains that many people look to the project templates as an example of what an article should look like, and until that template changes, the missing sections will just be re-added over and over because people think they are doing the right thing. I was just trying to be friendly, pointing out that if you think all those sections are useless then it would be more effective to get the "standard" Buffy article changed than chip away episode by episode. And yes, some of the Buffy articles are crap, but the whole point of Wikipedia is that they become less crappy if we all work together. I am not a member of Project Buffyverse, but I think they do try and do care, despite what you believe - I just think some of their goals and standards are counter-productive (for example, having a "to-do" list for adding quotes and trivia to articles). I have a serious problem, much like you.
I sit here almost daily, looking for vandalism. My new homepage is wiki, very sad. Anyhow, I didn't know you shouldn't leave comments in the page.
As for my progress on linux, I am currently working on a game. I am programming it in C and trying to make it easy to port from windows to linux (so far, all is well...).
Anyhow, this leads to my current question, how do I make a new sub-userpage so that it does not clutter my main page? I want to make like "clonedeath/whatever", how is that done? Thanks. CloneDeath 12:19, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Old username
Hi Lucid, sorry about the username turbulence. Don't forget, though, to re-register User:L to prevent any unwanted usurpers. You may need to use WP:ACC, since most single character usernames are caught up by the "too similar" filter. Take care, justen 04:02, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Regarding this: There's a differemce between a complete lack of references and a need for more sources [3]. —AldeBaer 16:36, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
- It wasn't initially my intention to replace it, as I noticed there are references and I think {{Unreferenced}} is reserved for cases when, as the template says, the article does not cite any references or sources (see also Template:Unreferenced#Usage). But when you reverted, I took a closer look and noticed the lack of inline citations and thorough referencing in general, so I changed it to {{Refimprove}} which should draw sufficient attention to the work that needs to be done. Tagging with {{Citations missing}} would also be appropriate, but I didn't want to double-tag the article. It's only maintenance tags however, and I wouldn't mind tagging the article with {{Unreferenced}}, only that I believe {{Refimprove}} is more accurate. —AldeBaer 23:35, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

- Do you want this thing to be in the infobox, or beneath it? I can't read your mind. I don't know what you mean by "stretching my userpage". Stretching bertically or horizontally? As frustrating as it may be, please just be explicit in stating what you want. Is there another userpage that has somehitng similar I can look at?
