”'Happy Birthday”! Mailer Diablo. Birthdays are happy events,
Times when dreams come true

Cultural prejudice
[edit]Why have you deleted "Cultural prejudice"? Do you think by any chance that it's an empty idea (that such a thing does not exist and consequently it does not need an entry in Wikipedia)? Jim 12:18, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
Could we undelete either Jeffrey Paul Hedquist and/or Hedquist Productions, Inc.?
[edit]On 12:14, 17 August 2006, the entries proposed by me for Jeffrey Paul Hedquist and Hedquist Productions, Inc. were deleted.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Hedquist_Productions%2C_Inc.
The primary reasons were 'Not Notable, advertising, vanity article'.
I realize that this was some time ago, but I am very short on time available to contribute to Wikipedia, and I find my own ignorance of Wikipedia procedures (even after availing myself of all online help) very frustrating. Most of my entries have been deleted, and I do not agree with the reasons given for deletion.
In the case of Hedquist, it is stated on the archive of the debate that "Clio Awards sound impressive, but they give out huge numbers of them every year - "hand them out like candy"".
I believe this deletion is inconsistent with other Wikipedia entries and is not warranted, as Jeffrey Hedquist is someone notable.
It is inconsistent, for example, when compared with the Wikipedia entries regarding the Academy Award (Oscar). Wikipedia lists AMPAS with a voting membership of 5,830. The AMPAS web site (http://www.oscars.org/) lists 113 nominations from these members for the 24 awards in 2007 awards, or some 21 per cent of all entries nominated receiving an award.
By comparison the Wikipedia entry for Clio Awards states there are 19,000 global entries with some 190 awards (1 per cent) being given in at least 10 categories. These are not claims that the Academy Awards can make. Clearly the Clio Awards are even more discerning than Oscars (they are often referred to as the Oscars of the advertising world), and far more competitive and difficult to achieve. It is the Oscars that are "handed out like candy" by comparison.
To conclude my argument of consistency, I believe that Wikipedia should either delete all references to Oscar winners, or it should allow entries on Clio winners. One or the other.
And as far as Hedquist is concerned, should I repeat myself that he has been the recipient of not one, but two (2) Clio Awards.
Also, I have clearly failed to demonstrate that Jeffrey Paul Hedquist is someone notable. His Clio Awards notwithstanding, Hedquist has received more than 712 advertising awards - IBA, ADDY, Hatch, New York International, Sunny, Silver Microphone, Mobius, RAC, London International, ANDY, EFFIE, The One Show, and hundreds of regional awards. This is not insignificant, it is notable. Hedquist is a primordial force and reference in radio advertising. Additionally, as a member of the National Speakers Association, Hedquist is a sought-after speaker on advertising matters, having given over 130 seminars across the US, from New Hampshire to Washington State, to the majority of all state Broadcaster's Associations.
What can I do to ensure a reference article on Hedquist is carried by Wikipedia?

Moral Quandry
[edit]I've been having a moral quandry of late and, as you welcomed me when I first created my profile on Wikipedia, I was hoping you might be able to help me solve it. I'm torn on where the line lies between fact and opinion. For instance, some information on the article global warming is simply wrong unless read from a biased perspective towards global warming. But wouldn't an article about global warming accept its existence? I don't believe it's as serious as the article states so what do I do? There are more examples but write me back first. Thanks again. Eris11 20:09, 25 May 2007 (UTC) 20:09, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit]Retrieve delete article (Hunter Street Baptist Church)
[edit]Could you possibly pull up the deleted content from the old Hunter Street Baptist Church article? The article was deleted after an AfD (see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hunter Street Baptist Church) which you handled as an admin. I was not terribly active in Wikipedia at the time of the AfD, otherwise I would have objected to its deletion. I'd like to se what was in the article that was objectionable (or whatever). The church is the largest in metro Birmingham, Alabama, and perhaps th entire state ('m looking into that). Once I see what was in the original article, I'd like to fix any problems and propose the article for a deletion review, or whatever you do when you want to resurrect a deleted article — I've never done it before. Thanks! Realkyhick 18:39, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- Regarding WP:NOTE and WP:RS and Hunter St. Baptist: Yeah, I'm pretty picky about that myself. I spend a lot of time on new-page patrol and slap on a lot of sources, nn and verify tags (not to mention speedy delete tags). I suspected that had something to do with the original deletion of this article. Thanks a million! Realkyhick 19:56, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- When you get a chance, take a look at User:Realkyhick/Userbox and give me some feedback on the progress of sources and such, and anything else you think would help. Meanwhile, I'll get back to new-page patrol. Thanks! Realkyhick 21:12, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks very much for your help. I'll get to work on the inlines, then go forward with the review. Cheers! Realkyhick 17:02, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Well, here goes nothing....
An editor has asked for a deletion review of Hunter Street Baptist Church. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article or speedy-deleted it, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Realkyhick 04:37, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

FC Barcelona Squad deletion
[edit]Hi, I created the FC Barcelona Squad article that you deleted as admin. I'd like to know the reason for deletion. If it was consensus, I'd like to clarify that any one of the Delete arguments was based on a Wikipedia:Deletion_policy#Reasons_for_deletion. I believe some people was just bias against me because previous discussions on Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Football, and people who could have argue to keep it didn't have much time to see the article since it was AfD just 4 hours after it has been created. Please, take a second look at the discussion. I'm 100% sure the article adds to Wikipedia. Thank you very much.--ClaudioMB 15:26, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
- To demonstrate you how complicated this deletion process was, the other article AC Milan squad was up for around 6 months without one single complain. But, just few hours my article was up, even people who had contributed to the AC Milan squad article vote to delete it. Also, as a example of poor reason for deletion, there were 7 solicitations for deletion that say the FC Barcelona Squad article was a duplication of the Fc_barcelona#Current_squad. Please, just look both to see how different they were. They probably were talk about the AC Milan squad article. Trying to compromise, I even asked to separate on two independent deletions discussions, or give more time to the article mature, but there weren't one single attempt to compromise, just rude talk like "you are on to a loser here" or "Could you please stop your crusade?". I really ask you to look it carefully and I'll be available to clarify any point here or on the discussion that seems not clear. Again, thanks.--ClaudioMB 03:30, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit]I gotta ask, how bad of a policy violation does an article have to be before it gets deleted? The article literally is nothing but a plot summary. How can it stand even if people who like it! vote keep? Otto4711 00:35, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
London Square Mall
[edit]Did this article really need deletion? Was it hurting anyone or anything? Users actually DID put some work into this article, regardless of whether there are a bunch of references. Wikipedia is nothing if not a tremendous source of trivia. I am dismayed to find that there are people with nothing better to do than prowl around the site looking for things to trash.
Futhermore, print encyclopedias do not cite every single source of their information, the standard to which you believe Wikipedia should be held.
Browsing your page here, I notice you do a lot of deleting. Do you ever contribute anything besides removal of articles? Globe199 01:17, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Timmy White
[edit]Why in the world did you keep this article from being deleted? What you should have done is merge it with the Steven Stayner, or Kenneth Parnell articles. White is notable for only one event. I thought wikipedia was against having articles about people known for one thing. The article was created out of whim. No assessment was made if he was indeed notable as say for example Elizabeth Smart. Fighting for Justice 02:41, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
