Cory in the House

Concerning the edit you made at Cory in the house, do you have a reliable source stating as such or is this just your own research? warrior4321 05:57, 13 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edit to the page Avatar (2009 film) appears to have added incorrect information and has been reverted or removed. All information in this encyclopedia must be verifiable in a reliable, published source. If you believe the information that you added was correct, please cite the references or sources or before making the changes, discuss them on the article's talk page. [edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, including your edits to The Final Destination, but we cannot accept original research. Original research also encompasses novel, unpublished syntheses of previously published material. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your information. Thank you. Wording, like "currently thought to be" is still considered original research and can't be included. Unless and until we know, for sure, there will be a sequel, it can't be any other wording than "it is". 132 03:46, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Also, please see WP:CRYSTAL. Thank you. --132 04:20, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Crash!.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free image with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria.

If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the image can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{non-free fair use in|article name that the image is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the image. If the image has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. — dαlus Contribs 22:37, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Uploading non-free images

[edit]

[The following is not an automated message. I wrote it personally]
Hi Moviedude, it seems you are still uploading and adding non-free images to articles, after being warned multiple times. Is there something you don't understand about non-free images, fair-use and copyright? I admit it can be confusing, and if you don't fully understand I can recommend someone who can explain it in detail for you.

I also wanted to apologize for some of my foul edit history verbiage to you, since they do come off rude.[1][2] [3] [4] There was no basics in biting a newcomer and I'm sorry if they offended you. —Mike Allen 05:46, 20 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Just letting that you know that Skier Dude hasn't logged on since the 18th, so when he comes back, he should respond, if not let me know and I'll dig up some documentation and try to explain it. —Mike Allen 00:33, 24 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Skier Dude has not around for a good few days, so you may find it useful to read WP:FURG and also my image copyright information page that has a section on fair-use together with other links you may find useful. Cheers ww2censor (talk) 20:08, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Pam_Beesley.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Pam_Beesley.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 23:44, 12 February 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. feydey (talk) 23:44, 12 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please link to the exact source. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. The copyright for the photo is most likely owned by the company who created the promotional item or the artist who produced the item in question; you must provide evidence of such ownership. Lack of such evidence is grounds for deletion. The promo image tag should only be used for images of a person, product, or event that is known to have come from a press kit or similar source, for the purpose of reuse by the media. Currently these conditions are not fulfilled, please add proper sources and authorship - otherwise the image is removed. feydey (talk) 09:24, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Transformers3milwaukee.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Transformers3milwaukee.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Huntster (t @ c) 03:37, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

To clarify, you have uploaded the photo as being in public domain, yet you give Fox 6 Milwaukee as a source. That automatically would place the image under copyright. When I look on the Fox 6 website, for that image they give credit to "Rita Flores Wiskowski", and such an image doesn't even show up in her Flickr photostream (and all her photos that are there are copyrighted non-free). So, please provide evidence that the photograph is public domain, or it will be deleted. Thanks. Huntster (t @ c) 03:43, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This site has the photos and list SplashNewsOnline.com as the photo credit. I think it's obvious it's not public domain. Hope this helps. Mike Allen 03:56, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. The lack of a confirmed source simply removes all doubt that this image is obviously public domain. Huntster (t @ c) 04:35, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well... I thought it was pretty obvious. You wanted a source where it was found and I provided you with the best one I could find. An image like this is usually not in public domain and is probably a CSD candidate for using a false license. Moviedude can you provide a link of where you found this picture? Mike Allen 04:56, 18 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

http://www.fox6now.com/news/witi-100713-transformers-milwaukee-pg,0,7154112.photogallery

I've seen the pics used in the gallery published on other websites, like Superherostuff.com and Comicbookmovie.com, as well as alot of other local news websites in Milwaukee.

(Moviedude346 (talk) 23:09, 19 July 2010 (UTC))[reply]

Thank you. At the bottom it states, "PHOTO COURTESY: Rita Flores Wiskowski", which links to her Flickr account. I can't find any of the images on her account. I would have advised contacting Rita and seeing if she was in favor of releasing it as Creative Commons. All of her images are copyrighted, so I highly doubt these would be in public domain (which is by default when you upload images to Flickr). You can still contact her and ask about the images she took. That's what I would do. Mike Allen 01:44, 20 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Moviedude, just wanted to say how much I appreciate the improvements you've been making to Wolf Brother - keep up the good work :0) ~dom Kaos~ (talk) 09:17, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

great stuff - that page looks a helluva lot better now! Just one comment - do you have any idea what the Nanuak actually is? I've read the book several times but can't find a physical description of it: Googling the word just throws up hits pertaining to the Chronicles. I'm guessing it's some kind of precious stone. Any suggestions? ~dom Kaos~ (talk) 16:40, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Teh sabers.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Teh sabers.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 04:05, 15 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
