Editor review
[edit]Hello there, Neuro. I had seen that you were unable to support my previous RfA (five months ago), where you had expressed some concerns. I wondered if you could comment on my current editor review. NuclearWarfare (Talk) (How am I doing?) 20:16, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
RfA
[edit]Nice work; I like this a lot. I'm thinking it would look better if you made it into 3 columns. But either way, great upgrade. ~ ωαdεstεr16«talkstalk» 13:26, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
- What happens when a user is up for RfA a 2nd or 3rd time? Does the code work for that? Also, some ppl are trying to access the links at WP:RFA rather than the subpage. Think anything can be done about that? ~ ωαdεstεr16«talkstalk» 20:31, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Help with bot archival of my talk page
[edit]Hi. I've off and on considered setting up a bot to archive my talk page automatically. Currently I manually cut and paste when things get too lengthy or they seem no longer pertinent. I've looked at bots before to help, but either they weren't very flexible, were so flexible that configuration seemed a nightmare, or they were so similar sounding that I couldn't decide. I noticed that you offered to help an RfA candidate set one up, and I'd appreciate your advice and possibly some help in setting one up for me if you have the time. No rush. Thanks! Oh. It would be especially helpful if the bot was interwiki-compatible (or at least available on other projects like Meta and Commons) since I tend to work there quite a bit, too. :-) —Willscrlt ( “Talk” ) 06:19, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for the suggestion and speedy reply. I have implemented it. Now I will wait and see if it works or not. :-) —Willscrlt ( “Talk” ) 12:02, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Ad?
[edit]Hi. :) Would you consider helping out Wikipedia:WikiProject Copyright Cleanup (known affectionately as WP:COPYCLEAN, at least by me :D) with an ad? There's a lot of grunt work with the project when we encounter massive infringements; we're currently balancing two and adding another, and we could use more able-minded Wikipedians. I'd be most grateful. If you don't have time or otherwise can't help out, please let me know, and I'll check elsewhere. (Seeing your talk page preferences, I won't watch here for reply.) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:17, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you very much! :D --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:39, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. I appreciate it. It's not urgent, and tomorrow works just fine. Or the day after even. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:04, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not at all sure what all that means, but it sounds pretty awful. :/ Please don't worry about rushing. This isn't a job that's going away, and it's not an emergency either. I just appreciate the help when you get the time. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 20:38, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

RFA toolbox suggestion
[edit]Chris, do you mind if I add/substitute the SUL utility to the "Wikis with this username present" section in your excellent RFA toolbox? The reason I think it is more useful and even better than the other linked tools is that it tells you whether the usernames are linked up via single-user login (and so belong to the same user). Otherwise, one never knows with a common username whether accounts on other WMF projects belong to the same person. The only information the SUL utility doesn't have that another tool (Purodha's) has is User ID, which tells you whether someone was the first, second, or millionth person to sign up for a project. But both tools give you the date of registration, which is probably more valuable information. Thus I'd suggest just substituting it for the other two tools, but it's your userspace, so it's your decision.--chaser (talk) 19:52, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. And don't worry; the intention is mostly to keep long conversations threaded.--chaser (talk) 21:00, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Hello,
I am the author of the screen image that was on the xfig Wiki page (and the maintainer of the xfig software) and I would like to know what you thought was copyrighted about it to have it deleted. I created the image from images that are freely available with the xfig software. Royal Society
[edit]Your work seems to be concentrated on the medals given out by the Royal Society. Have you looked into WP:FT, or was that your intention the whole time? Sorry if this is a silly question :) ResMar 18:55, 8 May 2009 (UTC)
- That's great. Now if I ever write something about the Royal Society's Medals, I'll know who to call. ResMar 23:46, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Haughey picture
[edit]I didn't upload that Haughey picture. Someone two years ago uploaded it over a picture I had loaded. The picture I had uploaded followed the standard rules that had existed on WP at the time and was not a copyright breach. Wikipedia subsequently changed the rules and then bots began sending messages to users of longstanding accusing them of breaching copyright for not following rules that had not existed when years earlier they had uploaded an image. That drove many longterm users with thousands of articles contributed off the site. (Whatever about telling users that the rules had changed and an old image they uploaded may no longer be allowed, and asking them to review the image, to insist - despite criticism - on sending messages explicitly accusing people of breaking copyright, caused high offence and a mass departure by users.) That, anyway is the background. The image that is there is not the one I uploaded and I am no longer having anything to do with images. I gave up posting to the site when I found that even my own images, I had given to WP were being deemed copyright breaches on account of the fact that the standard codes that are used now to indicate copyright had not existed then and the correct set for the time were used.
Do as you wish to that image. FearÉIREANN\(caint) 00:37, 10 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. :) Just checking back in. Unless I've missed it, I presume that you haven't been able to find time for the WP:COPYCLEAN ad. If it's not convenient, please let me know. I'll be happy to ask elsewhere. We really do have a rather urgent need for more contributors, though. We have far more work than we can handle. :/ --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:18, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

ThankSpam
[edit]Thank you for participating in my "RecFA", which passed with a final tally of 153/39/22. There were issues raised regarding my adminship that I intend to cogitate upon, but I am grateful for the very many supportive comments I received and for the efforts of certain editors (Ceoil, Noroton and Lar especially) in responding to some issues. I wish to note how humbled I was when I read Buster7's support comment, although a fair majority gave me great pleasure. I would also note those whose opposes or neutral were based in process concerns and who otherwise commented kindly in regard to my record. ~~~~~ |
An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is YTCracker. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/YTCracker (3rd nomination). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 21:05, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

hey
[edit]ping me when you get back... could use some help with template stuff. — Ched : ? 10:07, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
- sorry to hear about the semi-retirement for the communities sake, you always add so much in such a positive way. But I'll hope it's because you have good things going on in other parts of your real life. I have a couple templates listed at User:Ched Davis/templates, but don't know how to do the curly brackets and pipes and such. I just copy and paste, then adapt to what I want to do. Eventually, I'll get one of the stars merged with the pic., but that may take me a bit. Any suggestions or links to further my knowledge is always appreciated. ;)
- also, we're working on something at User talk:LessHeard vanU/rip-template and its corresponding project page, but again, templates are not my strong suit. Only if you're in the mood and up for it though. — Ched : ? 01:14, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
- OK, let's say I see The Defender of the Wiki Barnstar {{subst:The Defender of the Wiki Barnstar|message ~~~~}} How do I get those curly brackets that do something, ( {{1}} ) and how does that "subst:" thing work? If I wanted to make say User:Ched Davis/templates/friend a real thing, rather than just "edit" .. copy code, and paste to page. — Ched : ? 01:25, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
- hmmmm .. well, I guess the User:LessHeard vanU/rip-template is more important, but I don't think we're very far along in getting the wording down. We just started the talk page, so once it's a little further along, I'd imagine we want to do something to make foo=User:some name, once we get down the road.
- User:Ched Davis/templates/friend, maybe take the image, merge on top of this one - then be able to foo1=person getting and foo2=person giving. Hope I'm using those terms properly ;) — Ched : ? 01:43, 27 May 2009 (UTC)
- WOW .. that was fast! It would have taken me that long just to get the two pictures into PSP or Gimp, lol. I'll look through the diffs, and learn how you did it too. Thank you Neuro, I really do appreciate everything you do here, but especially how helpful you've always been to me! ;) — Ched : ? 02:16, 27 May 2009 (UTC)

Neuro, I know that you view an act like this in the concept that it was intended. I know that a copy paste function has little impression on you. RFA comment
[edit]Per your comment on my oppose, you can read this conversation (see his comment above mine) regarding Majorly's stated intent to restrict editors from RFA who oppose candidates for reasons he disagrees with. It's a moot point now, since his RFA is thankfully withdrawn. However, I did not appreciate your insinuation that I fabricated my reasons out of thin air, and I felt I should respond.
