Sorry for bothering you, but...

New Page Patrol needs experienced volunteers
  • New Page Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles. We could use a few extra hands on deck if you think you can help.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; Wikipedia needs experienced users to perform this task and there are precious few with the appropriate skills. Even a couple reviews a day can make a huge difference.
  • If you would like to join the project and help out, please see the granting conditions and review our instructions page. You can apply for the user-right HERE. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here)(click me!) 20:39, 1 March 2020 (UTC)

Reverted your removal of "Humanities" as a category on Anthropology

Hi there, I just wanted to reach out to ask about your rationale for removing "Humanities" as a category on the page Anthropology. --Pinchme123 (talk) 14:50, 14 March 2020 (UTC)

Did you get an opportunity to find an example? -- CommonKnowledgeCreator (talk) 19:29, 19 March 2020 (UTC)

German Army templates

I started messing about with the German Army templates you listed at TFD a while back. I got through the first three named divisions when I thought to check what the length would look like fully fleshed out. My oh my, that's a big template. I guess I was wondering if you felt that this sort of merge was still necessary, because honestly I think the current structure, while not ideal from a "top-down" or "who belongs to who" standpoint, is a lot more succinct and (more importantly) short. Let me know what you think. Primefac (talk) 21:53, 19 March 2020 (UTC) (please ping on reply)

Thanks for the collaboration! While indeed large, it seems like this template could be motivated as beng such an exception, don't you think? Although perhaps with armies listed in in collapsible-by-default horizontal rows? PPEMES (talk) 21:59, 19 March 2020 (UTC)

Information icon Hello, I'm Catfish Jim and the soapdish. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Secular Franciscan Order have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the help desk. Thanks. Catfish Jim and the soapdish 18:00, 20 March 2020 (UTC)

TFD

Just as a note, if you're going to nominate a bunch of templates for (more or less) the same reasons, you might as well bundle them into one nomination unless you think a specific template might be more controversial than another. Mostly this saves on space and avoids people having to give the same opinion multiple times. It's not always vital, but I just dropped today's log from 62 nominations to 39. Primefac (talk) 20:26, 22 March 2020 (UTC)

Ok, thanks! PPEMES (talk) 20:32, 22 March 2020 (UTC)

To the above I would add that nominating a large number of templates for merging in quick succession is seldom a good idea. For brainstorming ideas for merges, a better place would be the templates' talk pages. Any TfM discussion for a template that's in use leads to some level of disruption, so there's the expectation that when a TfM is initiated the nominator will present a clear vision for what the merged template should look like (this can be especially tricky for infoboxes given their often intricate syntax). Also, it's always a good idea to preview the template to see how the tfm notification is displayed, and to be aware of the uses of Template:tfm's |type= parameter. – Uanfala (talk) 20:51, 22 March 2020 (UTC)

I am sorry for the bi-product of the hatnotes above templates when discussed. However, I have tried to follow the regulations. If there are any specific templates you insist are not good faith-nominated, please let me know. Please feel free if you have any other feedback, positive or negative. I'm looking forward! PPEMES (talk) 21:34, 22 March 2020 (UTC)
Oh sorry, one more thing: using edit summaries is almost always a good idea, but when the edit concerned is a nomination for TfD, the edit summary is a must. You don't need to use the detailed summaries recommended at WP:TFDHOWTO, something as simple as "nominated for merging" would do just fine. – Uanfala (talk) 01:51, 23 March 2020 (UTC)
"Must"? Excuse me? PPEMES (talk) 05:32, 23 March 2020 (UTC)
This is in the instructions for listing templates at TfD. The idea is to get the attention of people who are watching the template. Sending something for deletion or merging is probably the most significant type of edit, and if that's not flagged up in the edit summary it risks slipping between the cracks and people not noticing it. If you use WP:Twinkle, it autogenerates the edit summary. – Uanfala (talk) 20:38, 23 March 2020 (UTC)

While nominating infoboxes for TfD, please use |type=infobox parameter in the tfd nomination template you place on the template page, so that the notice displayed on articles transcluding the template is of the appropriate size. If you use WP:TWINKLE to make the nominations, it will automatically take care of things like this for you. SD0001 (talk) 18:35, 23 March 2020 (UTC)

Full dress uniform

Dear User:PPEMES, I didn't notice that "orders of chivalry" was mentioned in the last sentence of the lede but I do see it now that you pointed it out. Thanks, AnupamTalk 18:33, 24 March 2020 (UTC)

No problem. Thank you for your contributions. Enjoy! PPEMES (talk) 18:38, 24 March 2020 (UTC)

Infobox merger discussions

Appreciate your efforts for intiating infobox merger discussions. Keep up the good efforts, Im in full support of meaningful mergers of Infoboxes. Capankajsmilyo(Talk | Infobox assistance) 01:53, 24 March 2020 (UTC)

Thanks! PPEMES (talk) 08:13, 24 March 2020 (UTC)

I see you're TfDing the career templates now. Can I ask what your expected outcome is? These templates exist precisely because of WP:INFOCOL and it's not obvious what you even want here. Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward) (talk) 21:20, 24 March 2020 (UTC)

Yes, two. Am I misinformed about something in that context? PPEMES (talk) 21:25, 24 March 2020 (UTC)
The entire point of these templates is to reduce duplication. See Wikipedia:WikiProject Infoboxes/embed. The "outer" templates are a compatibility layer meant to address existing uses. They can, if required, be substituted in existing articles, but it doesn't appear from the nominations that this is what you're proposing. In fact it's not at all clear what you are proposing. Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward) (talk) 17:39, 25 March 2020 (UTC)
If it's a proper wrapper, it's my mistake. PPEMES (talk) 18:29, 25 March 2020 (UTC)
