Moving articles[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I'm wondering why you moved The Rules of the Game to The Rules of the Game (movie)? The parenthesis description is only needed to disambiguate an entry. Unless there is more than one article with the same title, you can use the title without putting anything in parenthesis. This is no big deal, but the most common meaning of a title is usually the one that has the pure title, and in this case I would guess that would be the movie.

The other problem with moving articles is that it creates double redirects. So if there was already an article that redirected to The Rules of the Game it won't get redirected a second time. This could be fixed by moving the article back, but it is hard to move them back. You have to get an administrator involved to move it and keep the page's history intact. Another option is to edit all the pages with the double redirects. Requesting that the page be moved back is probably preferable, and less work.

Thanks for the response. I put a note at the beginning of both articles that should help people get to where they want to be. I'm also going to request moving The Rules of the Game (movie) back to where it was before. BTW, here's a tip for an easy way to can sign comments on talk pages.
