I see you edited my correction regarding Shock. I have re-edited it, as I believe that I am correct and that the hyperventilation is a mechanism to blow off CO₂ to correct the acidosis - it doesn't matter whether the pathology is a metabolic acidosis as the acute way of correcting acid-base balance is through respiratory control - renal control takes days to correct itself (although it will eventually). The mechanism of O₂ concentration rising will not correct the pH of the blood, it will merely prevent a worsening clinical picture. Dan 10:55, 3 February 2007 (UTC)

I guess you're wondering who I am and all that. I'm currently training to be a nurse in Australia, but I'm here for a different reason, really.

Currently, English NursingWiki has around 90 articles, in comparison to the German NursingWiki, which has well over 2000 articles. I was wondering if a group of technically minded nurses would mind commiting some information to it and helping it grow.

It's a little bit different from Wikipedia, in that it's designed for content that Wikipedia cannot have, such as steps for drawing up a nursing plan and the like, but I'm finding it a valuable resource already in my education, and I think it could become a very valuable resource very quickly if it had a group of nurses comitting their knowledge.

I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Blood Donation

Back in December of last year, you added a "globalize" tag to this article. I'd like to try and fix it up. There are some obvious US-centric points on donor eligibility to fix, but what else in the article did you find inappropriate? Just glancing through the NHS's online blood donor eligibility thing [1], I see a few differences in timeframes that I can add into the article.

AABB's newsletter recently did a bit on blood donation around the world and I'll be looking into that (sadly, it's not openly available online [2]) to try and pick up on differences. I'm not sure what they covered as part of third-world countries, though I know they have some interaction with PEPFAR (The US program for HIV/AIDS relief, mostly active in Africa) and that's another aspect I'll try to include if I can find some clear references.Somedumbyankee (talk) 00:15, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
