Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

[edit]

No problem on the template help. Yeah, I re-removed the spam link, though I think Armon will now object to your edit by itself. Unfortunately discussion on that page isn't really going anywhere either, with LittmanTAMU even stating that he doesn't want to discuss and would rather just keep the neutrality tag. The idea should be to eventually remove the tag, but alas, this is no perfect world. The Behnam 14:33, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pejman, the reason that you can't get what you want done in the article is because you are 'balancing' it by adding your own arguments and POV. We aren't supposed to do that. If you want to add those things, you'll need to find a reliable source that makes that case. Until then I suggest you drop it. Besides I don't think the points you are threatening your editing privileges by pushing are very important, so please just give it a break and let the article be. Thank you. The Behnam 21:54, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with The Behnam on this one. The MA article is a joke and attempts to mitigate the accusations are automatically faced with threats of blocking and such. Jayjg apparently owns the page and won't accept a consensus different from his POV. To his credit, he religiously abides by the Wiki's policies. There are more pressing and serious issues at hand on the article than the claim of anti-Semitism. Best of luck! Lixy 23:30, 1 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Given the topic, I doubt that there is any way to get a non-POV article. The guy denies the holocaust. He is so polarizing and divisive that getting a non-POV perspective would require aliens from outer space to mediate. Realistically, I think it best that the article have the disputed header up, at least until everything is settled. That could, of course, take a hundred years! It will probably always be an article raging with POV arguments on all sides.Gaff ταλκ 20:37, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Non-POV does not mean "neutral"!

The neutral point of view is a means of dealing with conflicting views. The policy requires that, where there are or have been conflicting views, these should be presented fairly. None of the views should be given undue weight or asserted as being the truth, and all significant published points of view are to be presented, not just the most popular one. It should also not be asserted that the most popular view or some sort of intermediate view among the different views is the correct one. Readers are left to form their own opinions.

If a person can fairly be described as a holocaust denier, and it is well supported, that is NPOV. -- Avi 21:20, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Then why just reverting the official response of his spokesman to the allegations? I agree, let the reader decide--Pejman47 21:44, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's not an NPOV question but a WP:LEAD question. -- Avi 21:48, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
the lead is the most important part of the article which must be NPOV and must summarize all the POV involved, isn't it?--Pejman47 21:51, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

I want to know if you'd be willing to participate in a mediation of any kind on Racism by country. I am agreeable to formal, informal or even rogue mediation, if you have a preference. If you're agreeable, I'll file a request and invite every other editor who's been involved, if not I'll probably be forced to seek arbitration given the circumstances. How am I ruining the article?!?

[edit]

How am I ruining the article?!? The whole point of Wikipedia is to give information about the subject of the article. Although I acknowledge that the information was slightly too detailed in some places and less detailed in other places but I think that most of what I put on the article was worthy of mentioning and deserves to be in the article. I will shorten it and put it back into the article. If you have a problem with it PLEASE LEAVE A MESSAGE ON MY PAGE OR WRITE YOUR CONCERNS ON THE IRANIAN TALK PAGE BEFORE CARELESSLY DELETING IT!!!!! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Manu kian maheri (talkcontribs) 17:09, 14 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

The only reason that the Iran article is over 100KB is because of it's lenghthy history section which we must shorten. But that doesn't mean that other sections should be deprived of useful information!

OK, I won't add any unnesassery information about iran. But i have made an Earthquakes in Iran article. It's not the best article in the world but we can imporove it.Manu kian maheri 15:09, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is the job of the editors of the article, to add references when they add material. Adding a tag to notify the reader and editors that an article is unsourced does not require that the person placing the tag add sources. Please read this about "Tagging unsourced material:"

If an article has no or very few references, but you are unable to find them yourself, you can tag the article with the template {{Unreferenced}}.

If a particular claim in an article lacks citation and is doubtful, consider placing {{fact}} after the sentence or removing the claim. Consider the following in deciding which action to take:

  1. If it is doubtful but not harmful to the whole article, use the {{fact}} tag to ask for source verification, but remember to go back and remove the claim if no source is produced within a reasonable time.
  2. If it is doubtful and harmful, you should remove it from the article; you may want to move it to the talk page and ask for a source, unless you regard it is as very harmful or absurd, in which case it should not be posted to a talk page either. Use your common sense. Do not be inappropriately cautious about removing unsourced material; it is better for Wikipedia to say nothing on an issue than to present false or misleading material.

All unsourced and poorly sourced contentious material about living persons should be removed from articles and talk pages immediately. It should not be tagged. See Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons and Wikipedia:Libel.

I have reverted your edit for this reason, to have the tag catch the attention of people inserting unsourced, poorly sourced, or not definitively sources material in the article.

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Assuming Good Faith

[edit]

I have no idea if Jayjg is an Orthodox Jew or not, but if you were to have looked at a Jewish Calendar recently, you would have seen that May 23 and May 24 was the Festival of Shavuos, which would prevent observant Jews from responding on those days. Please remember to assume good faith instead of making accusation; blatant or implied. Thank you. -- Avi 16:03, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what point you're making. It was a Holocaust denial conference, as many reliable sources have attested. It doesn't really make a difference if two or three people who don't actively deny the Holocaust attended, it doesn't change the nature of the conference itself. I'm afraid, I must insist that you justify your revert of Zoroaster. If you have a valid reason for doing so, please provide your rationale at the appropriate talk section.
Reverts are a highly destructive instrument, and since you presumably have a good reason for choosing to destructively revert rather than constructively improve, please be so kind as to enumerate these reasons so that they may be taken into consideration. Removing resourced info

[edit]

Hi,

Don't u think insisting to remove resourced info is not a good thing for you to adopt in the Persian Gulf page? I think removing resourced & more comprehensive info is not what we read in the rules of editing here.

Please notice that there was not any word has been altered or replaced by me. Only refs (of high quality and standards) were added to verifiy text related to Arabic names (as I know better than u in Arabic). For historical names, I added some other classical names widly-used even with refs in the past times as long as one user want to mention classical names but in his own way. Not only one name should be mentioned as it is tending to be of political background. Why you want to adopt the removal of names used for ~100-400 years as shown in the references?

Regarding the consensus, there was none as u can notice now in the talk page. For previous compromise(s), none of the Iranian editors considered sugestion provided by some Arab editors. This is not qualifying the proposal to be a compromise and we considered it manipulated and clarify that it has never been approved, as shown in our comments in the Talk Page.

It is better to keep referenced info and all widly-used historical names to follow the rules of edit in WP and avoid falling uder the vandalism due to repeated removal of resourced and comprehensive info.

On more thing, IP users looks keep destroying the article and vandalising it by removing refs and text. I did semi-protection not to allow any user (from any side) to do naive changes. Ralhazzaa 06:01, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Warning: deletion

[edit]

Please do not delete content from articles on Wikipedia, as you did to Persian Gulf. Your edits do not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use Wikipedia:Sandbox for test edits. Thank you.

Don't remove resourced info as WP requires. Otherwise, your repeated deletion of content from articles without providing refs will be considered as Vandalism (read difinition). Ralhazzaa 11:52, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Hotel-Room-video.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Hotel-Room-video.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:58, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You have just reverted the work of several days for many people (including mine), who have been working on this article diligently. Our work was done independently of each other. Some have changed pics in the history section or in the economy; some have edited text in many different sections over that period. Please note that your intervention is disruptive and somewhat unexplained. You have to be specific and you can't revert the work of everybody at the same time. Please provide more explanations on Iran's talk page for each individual edits that you have reverted. Thank you. 69.116.234.208 22:01, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Golestān Province

[edit]

Hi, I saw that you reverted my removal of iranica.com. On this specific page the link in the external link section is to the main domain of iranica.com, not to a specific document (not directly linked, see WP:EL). If I search on iranica.com, I can not even find a page specific about the province. Could you have a look at the specific link, and when you find a better link, add that link to the document (though, maybe it is better as a reference?). Hope this explains. --Dirk Beetstra T C 12:06, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
