Linda Kaplan Thaler

Thanks for your answer regarding the page on Linda Kaplan Thaler. I am aware of the "risks" of being "closely associated" with this person, but I made a point of writing a fair and objective description of her life and her personal life, so I think I should be fine on that side... Should I simply recreate the page, and add a line in the "talk" discussion saying that I release the text under the GFDL? Would that be sufficient? I would ask the admin directly, but I cannot find his/her identity on the deletion log or anywhere unfortunately. Thanks for your help!! C.G

Newark Bears (1926-1949)

The website that the bot claims the article is plagiarized from is itself one of the many sites that ripoff Wikipedia. I simply took a paragraph from the Newark Bears article, moving the info regarding the older team to differentiate the two teams. If you notice on this ripoff page, it says "from Wikipedia."

The graphical nature of the wikipedia credit on that page is likely confusing the bot. I've already removed the speedy delete request. Kuru talk 20:49, 10 May 2008 (UTC)

QQ Games Speedy Deletion

Hello, you nominated the QQ Games article for speedy deletion and then posted

"I withdrew this speedy but intend to propose it for deletion under notability standards if the case for notability isn't made in the article itself. Please see the talk page. – PranksterTurtle (talk) 09:10, 12 May 2008 (UTC)"

on my wall. Unfortunately, before I had a chance to discuss the matter on the page's talk page, it was processed and speedily deleted. Please advise me regarding where we go from here on this matter as I believe the page was notable, and would have worked to establish this.

Lucielle (talk) 08:51, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Not just retrieving the article

I am aware of how to retrieve the article, but I'd also like to hear your reasoning regarding why it does not meet the web notability guidelines. It is mentioned in numerous blogs, some of them with a fairly decent Alexa ranking, it's associated with, and seems to be sponsored by AIM, which is certainly notable in itself, as this would make it a competitor of things like Yahoo Games, MSN Games, etc.

Article about Go Voyages

Hello ! After your message on the article I just edit on Wikipedia, would you mind telling me if it's better now ? As a matter of fact, it is my first utilisation and I probably did something wrong. In fact, I just wanted to create the english version of our french page about Go voyages. So after updating the french wikipedia page, I tried to create an english page containing the translation. Thank you very much for your help ! And sorry in advance for my approximate english !! Sincerely,

CecileGov (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 18:11, 18 March 2009 (UTC).

Actually, my message should have properly proposed deletion under WP:CSD#A7, which basically says that there isn't anything in the article that says why Go Voyage is important or significant. If you can come up with a plausible explanation of why Go Voyage should be included in Wikipedia, then I'll remove my deletion tag. Please let me know if you have any other questions. – PranksterTurtle (talk) 18:17, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

Explanation about Go Voyages'Article

Thank you for your answer. I would say Go Voyages is a trusty web travel agency and It is one of the most popular in France. Go Voyages is newly proposing its services to different european countries. But european people don't know this enterprise yet as french people. That is why it is really important people can find some reliable information about this enterprise. Isn't it ? CecileGov (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 18:35, 18 March 2009 (UTC).

Wikipedia shouldn't be a primary source for people to find out about your company, and it definitely isn't a place for advertising. If Go Voyages is that popular when compared to other companies in France (and you can back that up with reliable third-party sources), say so in the article. I also suggest that you have a look at Wikipedia's standards for company notability.
As a side note, it would do a lot more good if we had this conversation on the article's talk page rather than on my talk page. It's doubtful an admin would look here before making the decision to delete or not. – PranksterTurtle (talk) 18:41, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

www.themafiaunderground.com

hello you requested a deletion for my page titled www.themafiaunderground.com..........Why so?

I requested a speedy deletion because there was not a claim for significance or importance on the article itself. Please see Wikipedia's standards for web notability, and let me know if you have any more questions. – PranksterTurtle (talk) 19:51, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, but once you hit the "save page" button it isn't your page any more. I was copyediting for clarity and NPOV, which, IMHO, is completely noncontroversial. – PranksterTurtle (talk) 16:02, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

I know it is not my page but I wrote it well and you deleted a part of it and changed the info in the box. —Preceding unsigned comment added by AKM722 (talkcontribs) 16:23, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

I deleted part of it for clarity and removal of NPOV, which is part of copyediting. I didn't delete anything visible in the infobox, but only made it so that your citation actually pointed somewhere. I think I made the article better, and I intend to keep on doing so. Do you want to call in a neutral third party to mediate this? – PranksterTurtle (talk) 16:49, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

Teleprompter of the United States

Hi. I moved the article Teleprompter of the United States to Teleprompter usage by Barack Obama because most of the people who want to delete it are saying that it's just about what Rush Limbaugh said. They are wrong. Before Limbaugh used the phrase, lots of mainstream news sources reported on the subject. I have added some of those citations to the article. Even without any mention of Limbaugh, this is still a notable topic and deserves its own wikipedia article. Grundle2600 (talk) 01:14, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Tom McGillis

I've declined your speedy as the article, while horribly written, does assert notability by mentioning that McGillis is the creator/executive producer of several animated series. COI ALERT: I actually know Tom, so I might be slightly prejudiced, but looking at this within the speedy guidelines I couldn't delete. Certainly you should feel more than free to take this to WP:AfD. Meh, it happens. Speedy deletions are tricky, though I must admit I almost always assume I'm going to be deleting when I see an article where the last name isn't capitalized (though I always check). Fortunately, this time it was someone who works in my field. AniMatetalk 23:56, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

My regrets

As I look out over the things having been done, I have very many sorrows in my iron heart. I have Latin teacher dying of lechtrechonodes and she is in the belief that nobody cares anymore about Sallust and I am trying to show her other wise. I see that I have erred! I will be a good person from ever more and shall not trouble anybody.

However I have friends with same concerns but different sufferings who may have learned differently. I hope they will be good, but two things are not the same: learning by hearsay and by experience. 128.197.244.207 (talk) 13:03, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion of Integration Point, Inc

Integration Point, Inc is a corporation and when writing the article on this corporation - I followed the similar format of one of our competitors, Management Dynamics.

Under the reason for speedy deletion, it stated A7 - that it was written as an advertisement.

My question to you, how can I edit Integration Point, Inc to merit as a Wikipedia article, in other words - how is Management Dynamics page so different from the one I created on Integration Point?

This is my first time creating an article on Wikipedia, so any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

ThanksJmiles1107 (talk) 13:06, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

Hi there! It seems that Integration Point, Inc. was deleted both because of criteria G11, which says that it was written like an advertisement, and criteria A7, which says that it was about a company and made no argument for inclusion in Wikipedia.
The first criteria would be relatively easy to meet -- just leave out a lot of the discussion about the products and really strive to use a neutral point of view.
The second one is significantly more difficult, and I would advise you to read the notability standards for companies. From the standards:

A company, corporation, organization, team, religion, group, product, or service is notable if it has been the subject of significant coverage in secondary sources. Such sources must be reliable, and independent of the subject.

If you can come up with these sources and they cover the company in some depth, then if you do end up creating the article again, make a case for notability by referencing them in the text.
Also keep in mind that you seem to have a conflict of interest in creating this article. While this does not mean that you absolutely can't create the article, it's not a very good idea. The general thinking is that if a company is notable, somebody not associated with the company would take the time to make an article for it.
The Management Dynamics article managed to survive the initial new page review because they did have secondary sources that referenced them. I still think it's borderline for notability (I might propose it for deletion), but they did make their case.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me here. – PranksterTurtle (talk) 13:20, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

Integration Point, Inc

Thank you for your suggestions and comments. I will continue working on this article and add in notable secondary sources, as well as address the advertisement issue. Hopefully, the next post of the article will meet the Wikipedia standards.

Thanks again! Jmiles1107 (talk) 18:37, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

I declined your request for speedy deletion of David B. Lacquement. He is a major general. This is a claim to significance/importance. A7 has a lower threshold for inclusion than W:N, the article only has to make a claim to significance or importance. I couldn't help but notice that some of your other CSD's have been declined. No problem. As a side note, I'm cheating and using Zotero. Uazikoff (talk | contribs) (Added reference; removed not working link; added some info) What does that (+499) mean? Thanks! Raffaello BG (talk) 15:31, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
It means that someone added 499 characters to the article. It's a way to judge how much somebody has changed an article. For example, a change that's +5 or something small will generally be a typofix; -4000 or thereabouts is most likely somebody deleting a section. – PranksterTurtle (talk) 17:20, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

History of Marshfield, Massachusetts

You people and their bots move just TOO fast! As the history of Marshfield section was getting way too long for the town's main page, I created the History of Marshfield, Massachusetts. I cut and pasted the history, but had to make sure it made the transfer okay before removing from its prior page. The27thMaine (talk) 18:19, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Ah, gotcha. I've added the split-to and split-from tags to the relevant talk pages. If you have the splitting desire again, I suggest you add those first (or put a similar notice on the talk page). Re: History of Marshfield, Massachusetts. Just so you know, the last two revisions by an IP address ([3]) that you reverted ARE actually the author of those words. M4 Survival Rifle

I have hand written notes re M4 from when I researched the AR7 and M6 Scout years ago, but my references are in chaos: I have moved twice and not completely unpacked both times. At hand right now Numrich Gun Parts catalog #27, page 1027 M4 Survival Rifle, has a list of parts and a short history confirming my notes, for what that is worth. (Numrich appeared to have most M4 parts except the barrels.) Although USAF was US Army Air at the time the M4 was developed, I suspect any ref manuals will be US Air Force.
