Hello, RoyDickson. You have new messages at Rjanag's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.
I see you recreated the Harvey Barnhill article without having responded to any of my comments. I have deleted it again, because it was the same as the article that had problems, and you did not address the problems. If you still don't understand why it was deleted, click the link in the "you have messages" box above to see the message I left you a week ago. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 06:47, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
I replied to you over a week ago and you apparently did not read it: User talk:Rjanag#Your deletion of my page "HARVEY W. BARNHILL". Before you come asking me what's going on, please take the time to read that message (as well as the links I put in it) and understand why your page was deleted. All the explanation is already there. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 18:15, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

I didn't change the section heading to "notable pilots", another user did, see here. Likewise, I didn't remove the list of names (although I supported its removal). Furthermore, I didn't remove any of it without comment; I started a discussion at Talk:History of aviation in Alaska, and you never responded.
Your accusing me of being "rude" and deleting your work without comment is, in of itself, rude. Likewise, your shouting at me is inappropriate, as is your refusal to read any of the numerous explanations I have given you here. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 19:06, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

I believe the editor you seek is User:Fuzbaby, however, I too can assist you in building your list. .Smallman12q (talk) 03:17, 6 August 2009 (UTC)

Someone to work with

Smallman12q (talk) 20:13, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

You stated at User_talk:Rjanag#ALASKA AVIATION HISTORY that you were looking for someone to worth with. Well...I'm willing. Let me know what it is you need help with, and I'm sure I'll be able to work it out with you. I hope that your conflict with User:Rjanag hasn't deterred you from Wikipedia. Feel free to comment either here, or at my talk page. Cheers! Smallman12q (talk) 20:13, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

His user name is User:Fuzbaby; that is very clear in the link that I already gave you [1]. Please read the brief Wikipedia tutorial to learn how to navigate around Wikipedia and to edit articles properly.
Also, please don't bother Fuzbaby with messages yelling about his removal of your stuff, until you have read the article talkpage (which I already linked for you above) to understand why the information was removed. If you disagree with the removal, the appropriate place to post a complaint is at the article's talk page, Talk:History of aviation in Alaska, rather than by bothering individual users. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 20:14, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

New images

URGENT: the sources for both these images need some work to conform to Wikipedia's copyright guidelines. Right now the image pages both say "own work by uploader", which I'm sure they are not—it's highly unlikely that you took these photographs in 1934. It's more likely that you found or scanned them from a book that you hold copyright for or is in public domain. If that is the case, the images are still fine to use, but you must specify those sources on the image description pages. If not, they run the risk of being deleted. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 01:56, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

That's fine, you just need to update the image description pages to say that the 'author' or 'creator' of the images is your father (whatever his full name is) and that you now hold the copyright and agreed to release them as copyleft (the two license templates already take care of the second half, youjust need to update the author information). It is possible that someone in the future might as you to confirm this through OTRS e-mail, but I don't think that's necessary at this point. The two image pages that need updated are located at commons:File:McGeeStinson01.jpg and commons:File:McGeeStinson02.jpg. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 17:14, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
To recap what Rjang has said, you need to put your father's name under the "Source" field. It is possible that someone may request further information/verification (WP:PERMIT), but you needn't worry about it until it happens. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. (I'm happy to see that you're willing to share these photographs with wikipedia and the world=D).Smallman12q (talk) 18:46, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

Sandbox

All you need to do is click the link to User:RoyDickson/Sandbox and create the page and start editing. The reason your link to USER:ROYDICKSON/SANDBOX caused an error message is that Wikipedia page titles are case-sensitive; your userspace is not USER:ROYDICKSON, it is User:RoyDickson. rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 17:20, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

The template should be changed to reflect a warning with regards to CAPS lock and title case. Perhaps something like:
  • Remember that Wikipedia is case-sensitive. Please check your title to make sure it is in the proper case.Smallman12q (talk) 21:42, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
I'm sorry, I don't know what template you're referring to? rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 21:46, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
My apologies; I was referring to the template/warning that displays "Unauthorized" at USER:ROYDICKSON/SANDBOX.Smallman12q (talk) 11:58, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Star Air Service

I noticed that you're devolping an article titled Star Air Service. Currently it has an excessive amount of external links...consider using those external links as references. Ideally, an article should have no more than 10 external links. Otherwise, the article looks good. Keep up the good work! Smallman12q (talk) 21:38, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

I see that you have cleaned up the article(both the external links, and the usage of references). I would recommend that you nominate the article for Did You Know at Template talk:Did you know under the September 8 section as there is a 5-day deadline for new articles...(or the article has to be expanded 5x within 5 days (See Wikipedia:Did_you_know for further "rules"). If you need any help, let me know...and keep up the great work!Smallman12q (talk) 20:35, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

Star Air Service

Nice article. You might consider listing a fuller history of the aircraft operated if you have sources. See similar on Robert Campbell Reeve and Reeve Aleutian Airways. Mjroots (talk) 18:55, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Given the number of different aircraft, it would probably be best to create a branch article entitled List of Star Air Service aircraft.Smallman12q (talk) 22:49, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Additional images for Star Air Service

When you're done developing the Star Air Service article, consider requesting copyright permission, Alaska's Digital Archives to use their images in your article. Just thought it might be something "interesting" and different for you to do. Cheers=D.Smallman12q (talk) 22:45, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Star Air Service Accidents

You should add a section at the end entitled Accidents and list related accidents in that section.Smallman12q (talk) 22:53, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

An exciting opportunity to get involved!

As a member of the Aviation WikiProject or one of its subprojects, you may be interested in testing your skills in the Aviation Contest! I created this contest, not to pit editor against editor, but to promote article improvement and project participation and camraderie. Hopefully you will agree with its usefulness. Sign up here, read up on the rules here, and discuss the contest here. The first round of the contest has already started, but a new round begins each month, and points are cumulative so you can easily catch up. Since this contest is just beginning, please give feedback here, or let me know what you think on my talkpage. - Trevor MacInnis contribs 01:11, 18 September 2009 (UTC)

Resolved

Smallman12q (talk) 22:30, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on File:StarAirServiceIreneIrvine.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [2], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. ww2censor (talk) 03:40, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

Non-free files in your user space

Hey there RoyDickson, thank you for your contributions. I am a bot, alerting you that non-free files are not allowed in user or talk space. I removed some files I found on User:RoyDickson/Sandbox. In the future, please refrain from adding fair-use files to your user-space drafts or your talk page.

File source problem with File:Star Air Service LogoB.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Star Air Service LogoB.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 22:17, 24 March 2011 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Magog the Ogre (talk) 22:17, 24 March 2011 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Star Air Service LogoB.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Star Air Service LogoB.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Diannaa (Talk) 06:30, 2 April 2011 (UTC)
