The Grand Mufti or Qazi Quzat of India is a Sunni Hanafi Muslim cleric in India. Unlike Grand Muftis in some Sunni Muslim majority countries, the Grand Mufti of India is not state appointed and has no official role in the Republic of India. Instead, the post is elected by prominent muslim organizations and institutions in India including Al Jamiatul Ashrafia, Jamiatur Raza - Bareilly, Manzer-e-Islam - Bareilly, Jamia Amjadia Rizvia - Ghosi and Barelvi Shariah Council on behalf of numerous delegated Barelvi scholars from different states of India.[1][2][3]


Prominent Sunni Muslims organisations in the country elected Mufti Asjad Raza Khan as the supreme leader of Barelvi Sunni Muslims with titles of Grand Mufti and Qazi Quzat in India by 67 scholars and jurists present at a recently concluded 16th Annual Fiqhi Seminar of the Sharee'a Council under Barelvi Shareef.[4][5][6]He has been elected to the same position of his father Akhtar Raza Khan who was the Grand Mufti and supreme leader of Sunni Muslims of India.[7][8] Akhtar Raza Khan died following a long illness on 20 July 2018.[9][10][11]


A group of people under Kanthapuram AP Aboobakar Musliyar from Kerala has appeared claiming the Grand Mufti and successorship of Akhtar Raza Khan after its students' union programme in Delhi and spread this over medias.[12]. However, the official Barelvi centers of Jamat Raza-e-Mustafa and other responsible authorities and institutions have denied this after Mufti Asjad Raza Khan was newly elected to the position on 31 March 2019 in the yearly meeting of their Sharee'a Council.[13][14][15] Controversies and uncertainties have run over this issue for weeks especially in Kerala between the different Sunni fractions before the official declaration and clarification form Barelvi Sharif.[4][16]

Hi SWADIQ D MUHAMMED. I'm not sure why you're making edits like this, this and this to Grand Mufti of India, but your edits are damaging the formatting and the layout, etc. of the article and you've been reverted each time. If you have concerns about the some of the content in the article, then perhaps you should try discussing them at Talk:Grand Mufti of India to let others know and see what they think. If you're able to establish a consensus among other editors to change something in the article, someone who is a little more experienced at editing will most likely be more than happy to do so for you.

In general, Wikipedia encourages us to be WP:BOLD when we edit and make good faith improvements to article; we may sometimes makes mistakes or be wrong, but that's OK as long as we try to learn from our mistakes and do our best not to repeat them. As you can see from all of the notifications/warning placed on your user talk page above, being BOLD hasn't worked out too well for you; so, now is the time to be WP:CAUTIOUS and discuss things with others on the article's talk page. If you keep making the same edit over and over again despite being advised that it's creating problems with the article's formatting, etc., your edits are going to be seen as disruptive and a Wikipedia administrator is going to eventually step in and take steps to prevent any further disruption.
