I don't know if this is the right place to contact you. It is all still too complicated for me. The phrase that was rejected as a copyrights violation is actually just a description of what they do. If an organisation is big and has many tasks, who knows better what they do, than they themselves. So yes, I used their own words to describe what it is they do. Now, I have rephrased the sentence. But in order to keep the information correct, I cannot change it too much now can I... Or it will not be the correct information anymore. I am in close contact with this organisation that I am describing. I have actually run my contents by them before I posted them on this wikipage. So there really is no issue of copyrights violation in this case. So, to solve this 'rejection', what should I do best? Just put quotemarks around the sentence, or cite the source? But then I would have to undo my rephrasing again, now wouldn't I? Otherwise it is no longer a quote... This is all so complicated. Just because it is the same description of their organisation. It shouldn't fall under copyrights violation. This is just rediculous actually! It's not their data I copied. It's just the description of what they do! Please help. I feel like they people reviewing wiki are just doing everything they can to refuse my page instead of helping me get the page ready... Seishonagon3 (talk) 08:03, 17 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You should summarize the facts in your own words. Copy-pasting and then changing a word here and there is not enough. I don't see that the organization has released the content in question under a free license that allows everybody to re-use and modify it for any purpose, including commercial purposes. Whether it's "data" or "text they wrote on their website" (actually mere data may be less likely to be copyrighted than prose), they still own the copyright, and you're violating it. Thus the content is unsuitable for Wikipedia. I'll remove it from the draft.
Furthermore, you should summarize the facts as reported by independent sources in your own words - Wikipedia is not the venue to repeat what an organization says about itself, so the content would very likely still be unsuitable even if there was no copyright issue.
If you are in close contact with the organization, you may want to consider whether you have a conflict of interest regarding this topic. Huon (talk) 08:36, 17 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
