Foreign-language redirects

[edit]

When creating redirects from foreign languages, please mark them with the {{R from alternative language}} followed by the code of the language. This will ensure they are categorized properly, thank you. - TheChampionMan1234 (Soon to be Champion) 00:19, 26 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Province

[edit]

Hello, why you reverted my edit on Şanlıurfa Province article? | Serchia (talk) 16:23, 23 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Because,Şanlıurfa Province page is a province (only official name; provinces is official structure) and Şanlıurfa page is a city (with official and non-official names) page. --Kmoksy (talk) 16:29, 23 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Redirects

[edit]

Hi, I wanted to explain a little about why some of the redirects you've created are being nominated for deletion and others are not. First of all, remember that this is the English-language Wikipedia, so the focus is on English. But if an article is about a subject that is region- or language-specific, then redirects in languages related to it are okay. (For instance, many articles about South Korean pop singers have Korean redirects to them.) But if a topic isn't special to a particular place, people, or language, then only English redirects are allowed. That is why redirects to banana, apple, and oak need to be in English only. Those are commonly found all over the world. For the reasoning behind this policy, read WP:RFOREIGN. And if you have any questions, please feel free to ask me on my talk page. Happy editing! — Gorthian (talk) 20:00, 18 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting help

[edit]

Hi greetings,

I have been looking for update and expansion support for 2 following articles in draft namespace with information about Sorani (Kurdish) language (as part of effort to include world wide view), since some of online sources are indicating word 'Afrat' is used in Sorani to mean woman/wife and that word 'Afrat' meaning woman seems to share etymology with Awrat, Avrat, Avret, Aurat.

and

  • Aurats (article to cover cultural women)

Please do have a look at the article, do update, expand, correct inaccuracies, suggest and discuss better article titles

Looking forward to your kind support.

Thanks and warm regards

Bookku (talk) 01:53, 29 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bookku, I don't have much information on the topic. The word Afrat in Sorani Kurdish generally use to describe women. It is not used to describe a culturally distinct set of women. I added some information to the table from Draft:Aurats (word). Serchia (talk) 15:27, 31 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Serchia: greetings again, First of all thanks for your proactive support. Basically these articles need a bit of support regarding cultural and historical usage of the words.
At least you know the language. Others, without any background at all have been stone walling every effort of the article in nascent stage itself and that is adding to more confusion and inaccuracies in describing the subject.
I don't know what happens in future, but since there is some shared history about this word and I wish subject gets a fair chance before getting rejected entirely, So whatever encyclopedic information either remains in same articles or gets merged some where else and remains on Wikiprojects in some form.
Thanks again and warm regards Bookku (talk) 11:01, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Domestika, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Systran translations

[edit]

Hi Serchia, regarding to your changes: Systran website shows only paired translations. For example, Turkish only translated to English, French, German and Spanish. Shouldn't we include it in the "Paired translations" list below?--Joseph (talk) 05:07, 7 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Muhammad Talab Hilal

[edit]

Hi Serchia, I have been searching for someone who speaks Arabic. I created an article about Muhammad Talab Hilal which I guess is important that it exists because then people who search the name will find good sources about his activities. He was not only a police chief he was also Minister of the Interior. And this sourced with the New York Times. But in the Arabic article on him, there is his date of birth and death, probably also other info but I can't read it. I can google translate and then I have an overview but I'd prefer to be sure. Could you help to add the missing parts? Ahhh, and I noted that an editor has deleted the part about the Arab belt policy in the Arabic Wikipedia. It could now be re-added and sourced rather good with all the sources I have brought in the English Wikipedia article. Paradise Chronicle (talk) 01:21, 11 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Paradise Chronicle:, actually my Arabic language understanding is not good too, so I think I can't be very useful regarding this matter. Serchia (talk) 12:46, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
