Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Sevdabmusic, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you created or edited appears to be an article about yourself. Writing about yourself is a common mistake made by new Wikipedians.

As this is an encyclopedia, we wouldn't expect to have an article about every contributor. We require individuals to meet Wikipedia's definition of a notable person to accept articles about them. A page you created about yourself may well be deleted from the encyclopedia. If it is deleted and you wish to retrieve its contents, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

If your contributions to an existing article about yourself are undone and you wish to add to or change it, please propose the changes on its talk page.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Thanks for the welcome. This article about Sevda B was not written by her. This account is managed by an experienced webmaster and musician manager. Can you help me to get it moved to the mainspace? Sevdabmusic (talk) 23:58, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My article was deleted and the article the person that did it refused to restore it. My subject is a valid notable artist and my article provided the evidence that it meets the criteria. My article is not advertising or promotional and I have not conflict of interest nor am I being compensated in any way. Sevdabmusic (talk) 18:56, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Sevda B, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hello Sevdabmusic. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Sevdabmusic. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Sevdabmusic|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. DoubleGrazing (talk) 16:41, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I’m not a paid professional and have zero financial stake in anything. Sevda B is a notable musician and references were provided. This account was created just to make this page. Please undelete it. If you have specific objections, I will make the edits or you can if you prefer. This article is not self promotion nor is it biased in any way. The tone is neutral, facts, with 3rd party verifiable references were provided as well as 4 news articles on this artist. This page is nearly identical to any other musician. Deletion of this article is discrimination against this acclaimed artist from the country of Georgia. Sevdabmusic (talk) 17:10, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You say further up on this page that "This account is managed by an experienced webmaster and musician manager". 'Musician manager' very much suggests a financial interest in the subject, and I assume you are being compensated or rewarded in some way or another (or do you work purely on pro bono basis?). -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 17:14, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I’m just fan of Sevda B working out of the kindness of my heart with no financial or other compensation. Sevdabmusic (talk) 17:26, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So you're both a manager, and you're not. Kind of like a Schrödinger's manager, if you like...
Anyway, if you're not prepared to disclose your paid editing, then you at the very least must disclose your general conflict of interest. I will post another message below with instructions. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 17:32, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Sevdabmusic. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. DoubleGrazing (talk) 17:32, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Look, I’m not acting as a manager here. I was just letting the other administrator know that I have experience in working with this kind of data. I have nothing to disclose. Please undelete the page so that I can continue editing it. It was lot of work. Several hours and I would hate to have to recreate it or pay someone else to do it. I file complaint if I have to. Sevdabmusic (talk) 17:36, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This page is not for promotion or advertising. This page is for a notable artist. Sevdabmusic (talk) 17:37, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This artist has 4 news articles, 5 music videos, over one hundred published songs, and has over 10 million views on YouTube as well as many other major music platforms such as Apple Music, Amazon Music, Pandora, and Spotify with tens of millions of listens. Sevdabmusic (talk) 17:41, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Therefore this artist meets the criteria for a Wikipedia notable artist page. Sevdabmusic (talk) 17:41, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There is no evidence that this artist is notable. In any case, the draft has been deleted, so arguing that point seems rather futile now.
Your refusal to disclose an obvious conflict of interest may well get you blocked. But I guess that's a risk you're happy to take.
All that being the case, I don't think I can help any further. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 17:55, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This musician meets the notability criteria.
Wikipedia:Notability (music)
If you read the page you will see this artist had several news articles, has produced albums on indie labels, had won a music award, and has been on the radio in multiple countries.
There is no conflict of interest. I am just a fan volunteering my time to create a page.
Please restore the page per the Wikipedia guidelines. Sevdabmusic (talk) 18:53, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because your account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 19:51, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The chosen username is too similar to existing usernames or it used to be username of someone else that got renamed: Double dragon and Doubledragon. Please choose another username. You also need to provide a reason to be unblocked. Cabayi (talk) 20:43, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Ok change it to: Jandaba
reason to unblock: Previous account name seemed like a conflict of interest with name of article being created and managed by it. Sevdabmusic (talk) 20:52, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sevdabmusic, to be unblocked you'll need to provide convincing responses to each of the four bullet-points in the dirty yellow template above (• Disclose ... , • Convince ... , • Describe ... , • Provide ...). So far you've only addressed the last of the four. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 21:13, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I’m not receiving any kind of compensation.
I understand the reason for my block was that my user name seemed too close to the article I was writing.
I plan to contribute to Wikipedia by creating factual informative content about notable musicians. Sevdabmusic (talk) 21:54, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

How did you manage to take and upload File:Sevda B.jpg as an "own work" image without having a conflict of interest? The photo is quite clearly a selfie? 86.23.109.101 (talk) 22:26, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I requested it from Sevda B, told her I was a fan and writing an article on her, and it was sent it to me with full permission. Sevdabmusic (talk) 22:57, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Sevdabmusic If you have a COI just admit it. No point going back and forth. Mseingth2133444 (talk/contribs) 23:00, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You claimed it as you own personal work- if it's not, you will need to either replace the copyright notice to indicate that Sevda B released the image for use by anyone for any purpose with attribution, or request deletion of the image. 331dot (talk) 23:00, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK Sevdabmusic (talk) 23:02, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sevdabmusic, I hope you can understand that you resemble paid editors whom we encounter on the project daily who see Wikipedia as a form of free advertising, from your username, your claim of being a music manager, the draft article you worked on, they all are signs of a paid editor. It looks like you are being given a second chance if you respond to the questions/points (above) which I rarely see happen. And going to ANI to make an over-the-top complaint against a very experienced editor didn't help your case. If you are unblocked, I encourage you to bring any questions about COI or article creation to the Teahouse if you run into problems. And a photographic being "public" doesn't mean that you have permission to use it on Wikipedia. Liz Read! Talk! 23:37, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your advice. What is the next step? I am new to Wikipedia. Sevdabmusic (talk) 23:40, 19 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Based on the below observations by DoubleGrazing, there are still unanswered questions about you and the subject of the article. I judge that it is not the best interest of the project to unblock you at this time until we have adequately resolved in all respects you relationship to the subject of the article and addressed all WP:UPE and WP:COI concerns related to that. I also have concerns over the apparent issues with the BLP violations (the entire external links section was nothing but social media) and the fact that you had only one source for the whole article, and that source was only to prove an honorable mention. I'm not convinced unblocking you is in our best interest at the current time. TomStar81 (Talk) 21:58, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
External links were to major music platforms:
apple music, amazon, Spotify, pandora, etc for songs published on idie labels to show notability per Wikipedia notability standards
only instagram was social media.
there were four news articles. I was going to provide a reference for the radio interview too. Sevdabmusic (talk) 00:02, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
"[A]pple music, amazon, Spotify, pandora, etc" mean something exists. Existence does not imply notability. (Especially on any commercial or monetized website). See WP:EXIST. Third-party coverage by reliable sources makes notability. This does not include interviews. See WP:BLPSPS regarding subjects talking about themselves. Cheers. Greetings. I'm not admin, but I tried to make your strangely formatted 2nd unblock request visible to admin. I'd also like to point out the user name you've proposed was taken in 2015 (no live edits). Also, I doubt any admin will take your claims to be neither associated with this subject, nor possibly the subject herself (SELFie, "my article"), very seriously. Your first warning by WikiDan61 looks spot on, and your responses all facilitated the deletion of the selfie. Had you proposed to edit only about a totally unrelated subject matter, that'd be a start. Cheers. JFHJr () 05:11, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"This account was created just to make this page." Are there other accounts for other articles? Or just this one subject? Cheers. JFHJr () 05:50, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This is the only account. I put a lot of time into my article, and did a lot of research in advance into my subject while gaining permission from her to use her information. She is a rare and notable woman artist from the country of Georgia who deserves a page acknowledging her work. I want my hard work undeleted. I plan to expand on the article which contains notable artists, labels, countries, people, places, and things. Also I will provide reverse links and bullet points on related articles. I will manage my work responsibly and respond to any questions, comments, or concerns in a timely manner while following the guidelines. However I expect the same from other users on this platform. Making false accusations and claims without proof and passing judgement on others is not cool. In America we are innocent until proven guilty. The hypocrisy here is amazing. A couple of helpful users like yourself notwithstanding. Sevdabmusic (talk) 11:15, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Item 1) It’s not “your” article, it’s Wikipedia’s article. That means other people are going to edit it, add to it, subtract from it, rebuild it, etc. That’s how this site works. Best get in the habit of not using “my article” on site, particularly under these circumstances, but it’s going to read as you not letting this go. Item 2) anything related to Biographies of Living Persons (BLP) draws extra attention due to site mandates for editors, admins, etc. It would therefore be best if you stepped back from this artist’s articles when and if you get unblocked and spend some time diversifying your edits as a show of good faith. Item 3) the whole “innocent until proven guilty” thing on this site has markedly different parameters depending on hat on how you chose to edit. Some accounts are iPod facto blocked right out the gate for far less than working on artist related pages using artist related names. While site admins do have requirements for blocks, protections, etc, they are cleared weapons hot for anything the community may reasonably be expected to have issues with and this is one of those things. Sadly, no matter what you do on here, it’s likely that for the next few months your going to be on the admin radar since we’ve got our suspicions about this account and it’s purpose on Wikipedia. That’s just the way it is. If you’re a good neighbor you’ll shake that perception eventually, but you’re going to have earn it, that will require careful steps and cautious editing. 2600:1011:B18B:F:8A6:99B2:A133:D74A (talk) 15:50, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That would all be great if I get unblocked and the open source article is un-deleted so that everyone can contribute to it. Sevdabmusic (talk) 16:18, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As you were already notified here, and subsequently told at WP:REFUND, the draft was deleted for being overtly promotional, and as such is unlikely to be undeleted, whether you manage to get unblocked or not. And even if it were to be undeleted, there was zero evidence of notability when I reviewed it, so there remains a substantial chasm between any undeletion and actual publication.
I think we also still need to get to the bottom of your relationship with the subject of this draft. You started by presenting yourself as a "musician manager", then changed that to "just fan". Now you say you "gain[ed] permission from her to use her information", which implies you've had some sort of dealings with her. It seems the story changes with each iteration. What, in absolutely unequivocal terms, is the nature of your relationship? -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 16:55, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I already answered these inquisitions Sevdabmusic (talk) 23:58, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So the answer is that you're not sure about your relationship to the subject, since you're a webmaster, musician manager, just fan, and gained permission from her to use her information. And you believe that - in violation of the BLP mandates - your unsourced article should be published on our site which is why you are pushing for an undeletion of your article? In that case I feel better for declining your unblock request. TomStar81 (Talk) 00:04, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I’m glad I didn’t hurt your feelings after you were being overly judgmental and unfair Sevdabmusic (talk) 00:05, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am who you say I am.
I have experience with music data management and website so I know what I am doing and talking about.
I simple contacted the subject for permission. How else would you do that?
Compared to any other artist article what specifically is unsourced? I will add sources if needed.
If this is all the users article then anyone can edit it or critique it once it gets started. Go for it. Sevdabmusic (talk) 00:14, 22 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
