Reply to your Articles for Creation Help Desk question[edit]

Hello, StillEvolving! I'm Jcc. I have replied to your question about a submission at the WikiProject Articles for Creation Help Desk. jcc (tea and biscuits) 22:06, 26 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your advice Jcc and especially your encouragement - I will work some more on it. How would I go about providing verification for education - I have looked a few other pages but I do not see examples of this - for example Eleanor Mariano has a link from her school to the wiki of the school but here is nothing that proves she goes to that school. StillEvolving (talk) 22:52, 26 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Well, where did you get the information from about his school? Normally 'proof' might come from a name-drop in a news article, or the subject's autobiography. With regards to the Eleanor Mariano article, the section has been tagged since 2012 and in theory any editor could remove the uncited information. jcc (tea and biscuits) 18:36, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Jcc - some general education info I got from his website or LinkedIn page - I put such up there as general background, as I did not think they were contentious - I figured one could go to the college/institute to verify further but this is not published for immediate access in the public domain. Shall I just delete things like education if there is not a readily available link ? Thanks again for this help. StillEvolving (talk) 14:43, 28 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The guideline on using LinkedIn as a source says that it can be used if the subject's LinkedIn is verified, but if his is not, then just removing it will be easier. On another note- do you have any relationship which might result in a conflict of interest with Robert? If you do it's best to declare anything now to avoid problems down the line. jcc (tea and biscuits) 16:10, 28 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Jcc - sorry for the delay -Summer heats up for me busy-wise. Re conflict of Interest - I do not think I have a conflict but maybe you can tell me if you consider that I do and I will be happy to do what ever is right. I met Dr. Darling a few months ago through some temp work that I do (bookkeeping/admin). I thought his background was fascinating and would be a good addition to Wikipedia. At that point I had edited a few pages and was looking for topics to contribute. I did seek his permission and I also asked him for a photo which he provided to me. If you can tell me whether this would be considered a conflict and if so how I indicate this I would appreciate it. Re LinkedIn Thanks for the guidance on LinkedIn. I do not see where his page is verified so I have removed all of the background things that I found there. I have only left the things that can be verified by third parties. Please have a look and let me know what other changed I may need to make. I appreciate you working with me on this. StillEvolving (talk) 13:52, 23 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, the article looks a lot better now. With regards to conflict of interest, what I've done is place a note on the Draft talk page saying that you are professionally connected with Dr. Darling. This doesn't affect your ability to edit the article. I've also moved the article to mainspace, where it can still be further improved. Best wishes, jcc (tea and biscuits) 08:46, 25 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
