[edit]Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Nicholas Lowe
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Nicholas Lowe, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. DGG ( talk ) 06:28, 26 December 2015 (UTC)

❯❯❯ Raydann(Talk) 17:42, 7 January 2023 (UTC)- Hi Raydan, I am very disheartened by the fact that my article has now been moved to draftspace. Please can you give me some advice? Also, I am not sure why it is considered to be promotional and what the conflict of interest is? Many thanks, Tim. Tim B Haigh (talk) 11:55, 11 January 2023 (UTC)
Nicholas Lowe moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Nicholas Lowe, is not suitable as written to remain published. It appears there is a WP:UPE or WP:COI conflict. Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, and have addressed the UPE/COI issue, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. As per WP policy, please do not move into mainspace yourself. Onel5969 TT me 22:52, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
- Dear Onel5969, Please could you give me some help and explain why there appears to be a UPE/COI conflict? Also, please can you give me an example of information that has to been referenced? Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Tim Tim B Haigh (talk) 15:26, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
Nicholas Lowe moved to draftspace
[edit]Thanks for creating Nicholas Lowe. Unfortunately, it is not ready for publishing because it is promotional and reads like an advertisement and you may have a possible Conflict of Interest. Your article is now a draft where you can improve it undisturbed for a while.
Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Mako001 (C) (T) 🇺🇦 14:15, 8 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hi there Mako001, I must admit this is very disheartening to have the article published and then removed after a few hours, to be honest I do feel like giving up with this. Please could you give me some advice on this as I am not sure what the conflict of interest is? Please can you explain? Also you say that it is promotional and reads like an advertisement and again please could you give me some advice on this as I have changed the article following previous comments and cannot see what os supposed to be promoting? There is no reference to any company or product and he has retired from practice.
- The article was approved and accepted on 7th January.
- I look forward to hearing from you.
- Kind regards and many thanks, Tim. Tim B Haigh (talk) 17:41, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hi,
- Firstly, when you make comments or ask questions, unless the person you're addressing has your talk page on their watch list, they won't necessarily see that you've commented, hence why you're not getting responses to your comments. You need to 'ping' the person; see template:reply to (and note that simply putting an @ in front of the user name won't work).
- Now, I can see that this Lowe article has been back and forth between the draft and main spaces for quite a while, and I'd like to get to the bottom of it. One of the reasons why it was moved back to drafts is that there is a question of a possible conflict of interest (COI) which hasn't been clarified.
- So let me ask in simple terms, how would you describe your relationship to Lowe?
- I will also post a separate message below with information on COI and advice on how to manage it.

Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Tim B Haigh. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. DoubleGrazing (talk) 06:45, 12 April 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Nicholas Lowe
[edit]Hi @Tim B Haigh: How goes it. There seems to a question hanging over the Nicholas Lowe for conflict of interest. Do you know the subject personally? scope_creepTalk 10:14, 21 May 2023 (UTC)
- Hi there, thank you for your message. No I don't know the subject personally and I am not sure why this question has arisen. I did once meet him and use his services, several years, which is how he came to my attention and after a bit of research I thought that he would be suitable subject for me to try a Wikipedia entry. I hope this clarifies the situation. Many thanks, Tim. Tim B Haigh (talk) 10:23, 21 May 2023 (UTC)
- I can't speak for others who may have queried this, but the reason why I did (which you never responded to) was that simply by looking at this talk page, and your edit history, you clearly have a strong interest in the subject, having attempted several times over the years to create an article under different titles. Not only that, but eight years ago when you registered your account and started editing, one of your first acts was to write on your user page
"I have been asked by friends to assist them with their Wikipedia entry"
, followed soon after by creating a draft on Nicholas Lowe. That is why this question has arisen. HTH, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 10:36, 21 May 2023 (UTC)- Ok, now I understand the issue. I can't quite remember now why I tried to create the article under a different name. I was very much trying to feel my way, and to be honest have been quite disheartened at time by comments made. With regard to the comment "I have been asked by friends.... etc" has come across as a misunderstanding, as I had discussed with friends the possibility of trying to create this page, whom thought it was a good idea. It was not meant to read as the subject being the friend! That was my mistake. Thanks, Tim. Tim B Haigh (talk) 20:28, 21 May 2023 (UTC)

[edit]@Tim B Haigh: Following up on the coi discussion above. Regarding the image, it seems to be have been taken in the subject study, and its been uploaded yourself. Can you explain the context around that please. scope_creepTalk 11:32, 1 June 2023 (UTC)
- It is an image I found in an article online that did not appear to be copyrighted or licensed. Is this a problem? there appear to be plenty of images of him on the internet. Does it need to be referenced to an article or a source? Thanks Tim. Tim B Haigh (talk) 11:53, 1 June 2023 (UTC)
- Where on the internet did you get it from? Only asking as a quick Google image search finds just the one copy, the one here on Wikipedia.
- You certainly should not be uploading images as your own work, if they aren't, in fact, your own work. Someone is likely to own the copyright, and they probably won't be too pleased if you go and release their property into the public domain.
- Of course, if it was you who took the photo, that changes things. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 12:02, 1 June 2023 (UTC)
- I will see if I can find where I found it. But I can assure you that it was not taken by me! I didn't mean to upload as my own work. Thanks, Tim. Tim B Haigh (talk) 12:04, 1 June 2023 (UTC)
- Yes. That is fine. I was a wee bit worried there. It is only problem if it was copyrighed at some point and that will need to be addressed at some point. Assuming WP:AGF, I'm happy. scope_creepTalk 13:20, 1 June 2023 (UTC)
- But the article appears to be moved back into draft again!..... I can't win with this. Tim B Haigh (talk) 13:23, 1 June 2023 (UTC)
- I was planning to start the process to delete the image, but its started by DoubleGrazing which is good. I think question of coi has been addressed. The article was moved into mainspace prematurely as the discussion around COI was still ongoing. But I think it has been addressed now. scope_creepTalk 13:26, 1 June 2023 (UTC)
- So can it be moved back into mainspace again? Thanks, Tim Tim B Haigh (talk) 13:28, 1 June 2023 (UTC)
