Welcome to Esperanza!

Welcome, Trampikey, to Esperanza, the Wikipedia member association! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member, you might be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is the StressUnit, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Possibles.

I encourage you to take an active voice in the running of Esperanza. We have a small government system, headed by our Administrator general, Celestianpower, and guided by the Advisory Committee, Titoxd, JoanneB, and Freakofnurture.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Celestianpower by email or talk page, or the Esperanza talk page. Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users on our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). If you're new to IRC, please see the IRC Tutorial, which was written by one of our members. I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to be!

Re: kids names

Thanks, well it is a bit taxing doing it this way but i will try to explain, sorry if this gets extrememly boring. i went to this BBC site here. it gives actor credits for each episode of EastEnders, so if you can establish roughly which episode/month the actor appeared in then its kind of a process of elimination. I did this, noted the names I didn't recognise from the list, then clicked on their names. It then tells you which episode that particular actor featured in for their whole time on the show, and also which actors they appear with most often. After that it's just more process of elimination. Unfortunately they dont tell you the actors character though. Doing it like this was easy enough for Jack Evans, Kofi and Louise, because they featured quite a lot so its easy to work out (from the episode descriptions and their length of stay etc), but its not so easy for the babies like Cindy Williams as she only appeared in a few episodes. Gungadin 17:30, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

Re:

Yeh it shouldn't be a problem for Aleesha and Freddie, as we have the exact days they joined and subsequent plots to tally with it. The ony problem will be if they have changed the child actor over the years. The pappas family from earlier this year may also be tracable, as I notice we dont have their actors names either.

It's still possible to pinpoint the actors of the minor baby characters, for instance with this eaamon jr baby - he will probably be with loads of unknown names in that episode in Ireland, but its possible to eliminate some names by clicking on the actor, and seeing what other shows they've been in. If they have featured in a show from say 1980, then that obviously wont be Eaamon, also you could check the actors credits on IMDB. The only problem with this is that some actors have not appeared in any other shows, so you can't eliminate them adequately, so its not fullproof. I had this problem with Cindy Williams. There were several possibilities in those eclipse episodes, but I got bored with checking them all, so I gave up. Gungadin 18:21, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

bobby beale

I think Bobby is played by Kevin Curran Gungadin 18:40, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

Re:

Yep, they all look right to me. I had a look at the Josh Alexander one, and I noticed that the one on IMDB only features in American programmes, so I think its probably safe to say that he isnt the EE character. Cool! they must nearly all be complete now Gungadin 21:36, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

re:

yeh good idea, maybe we can email them. Gungadin 12:19, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

The only thing i can find is this [1]. but it doesnt say that everyone will get a response and they dont give an email address for some reason, seems to be more for feedback and complaints. I dont honestly think they will reply anyway. The only other thing I can suggest is posting a message on this site [2] requesting the info from one of the users. A lot of the people on there seem to have access to old episodes, so some of them may be able to help with the information. What do U think? Gungadin 23:00, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

Can I ask a question about this? I haven't looked into what you've been doing but do the pages actually say such and such a person played such and such a character? Because if not then I think what you're doing may be against one of the fundamental rules of Wikipedia: No original research. Just thought I should point that out as you may not be aware of this policy. Thanks. Sweetie Petie 12:43, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

I have re-deleted this - having a page on a future character seems rather daft to me - let's have it when the character starts! --Brookie :) - a will o' the wisp ! (Whisper...) 15:53, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

I have put the {{future}} tags on the articles on "upcoming" characters (your word) because they have not aired yet. If they have, then the articles should reflect that. Until then, please don't remove the notices which state what the first sentence of each article says: it's scheduled to happen, but it hasn't happened yet. Thank you. Sourcing on images

Hey Trampikey I noticed that some of the images on The Christmas in EE article are coming back as unsourced. I had a word with JPS a while ago and he told me that for screenshots you need to include the program, rough date it was aired and actor and give a fair use rationale. Ive added one to Image:Mark 91.jpg and just thought I'd show you so you dont get any unsourced image problems in the future. :) Gungadin 13:40, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Ray EE.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Ray EE.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

A new EastEnders-related article

Hi, Trampikey, I just wanted to suggest something regarding the EastEnders wikiproject. I have a suggesstion that a new article in the same format as List of EastEnders buildings called List of EastEnders spin-offs be made. This would be good so that there is information about the special spin-off episodes that EastEnders made. The spin-offs that could be included in this are The Return of Nick Cotton special, The Pat and Mo Ashes to Ashes special, The Ricky and Bianca special and the Frank Butcher special Perfectly Frank etc. Do you think this is a good idea? Get back to me when you can about whether this could be a new project for EastEnders. Thanks. (Shakirfan 15:39, 14 June 2006 (UTC))

I think it's a good idea but I don't know anything about those particular spin-offs. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 15:54, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

No worries. I know about the Nick Cotton spin-off and the Frank Butcher spin-off. Unfortunately I don't have enough info on the Pat and Mo special. I forgot to mention the Civvy Street special too. I will get started on this very soon. (Shakirfan 18:39, 14 June 2006 (UTC))

Thanks

Thanks for the Barnstar, its nice to be appreciated, and You deserve one too for all your hard work.

For your tireless work creating new EastEnders' articles also.

The Osman children

Hey, I was thinking of writing the articles for Rayif and Murat Osman, but I cant find any specific info on them and I doubt they will differ greatly from Emine Osman anyway. Do you know which of the two boys is older? I think Emine was the eldest out of all three. also, do you think it's worth making the Osman children just one article? as in redirecting Murat and Rayif to the Emine page and changing the title to fit all three kids names in? Gungadin 17:26, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

lol, good idea! I'll just make a couple of stubs. I will try and have a go at updating some too. Gungadin 17:46, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

A short Esperanzial update

As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.

As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

re

The article list is eastenders cast members by year of exit. so its a list for the actors who appeared in EastEnders isnt it? so why should it make any differnce if their character doesnt get its own page? Gungadin 22:33, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

Trampikey, why are you turning it around to be characters? I thought we agreed to vote on or discuss major changes such as this. Also, why can't minor and non-notable characters be added to the list? Since when is notability an issue in this project? Several non-notable and minor characters already have their own pages and you protested against my page for minor characters so I stopped working on it. -- AnemoneProjectors (talk) 12:00, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

List of EastEnders cast members

Was that last message meant for me? I havent kicked up a fuss about including pages on random paramedics, so I dont know why your last response was aimed at me.

As for not including pages on minor characters, I totally agree, but I dont see why they cant be featured on a detailed list (which is completely about cast members of EastEnders). Nobody owns this project and we are all entitled to have our own opinions on how to improve it. As for making a minor character page, I think that's a great idea, and I still don't want to include paramedics in that either! Characters like Liza Moon and Ayse Osman, who are not likely to feature again and whose articles are only a couple of sentences long don't need their own page in my opinion. Gungadin 18:26, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

I apologise if I offended you, I just didn't like your comment to him, I thought it was uncalled for as he's done nothing to you personally (as far as I know). It was obvious to me that he was petie from the moment he joined the project as AP, so it looked to me like you were reporting him after all this time just to be spiteful. I dont have anything against you and I dont want to cause any hostility, so im very sorry if I upset you and I hope we can all continue to get along.

As for the characters, no one was saying that it will definitely happen, I just thought it was a good idea. If not everyone agrees then fine it can be scrapped, but have a look at Petie's page that he created before you decide, it works really well in my opinion. Gungadin 19:20, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

How sad are we?

Racing to add Miniden to the articles instead of watching the episode! ;) -- AnemoneProjectors (talk) 18:47, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

I so knew someone was adding that straight away! Unfortunately I was busy eating! It's annoying being beaten! -- AnemoneProjectors (talk) 19:11, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Re: Darren and Keith

I know this isn't the place to talk about it (we should be discussing the encyclopaedia), but I thought it was so sad when Keith and Demi were saying goodbye. If you wanna talk about EastEnders, perhaps we could go off-wiki? -- AnemoneProjectors (talk) 20:49, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

Yes but I don't really want to print my email address on here... erm... could you activate your email link? You could just do it temporarily to email me with your MSN address, and then deactivate it afterwards, if you don't want it activated all the time. -- AnemoneProjectors (talk) 21:13, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

I saw an episode with him in from the 80s and remembered to check when the credits came up. They listed the characters surnames in the credits back then, shame they dont do that now, we wouldnt have all these character pages with only forenames Gungadin 23:41, 13 July 2006 (UTC)

Hey

Hiya Trampikey, I noticed from a link on one of the pics that you're doing a project of the original cast in your sandbox (really good idea btw). Anyway, I have got hold of a few episodes from early 1985. Would you like screengrabs of the original cast as they looked in the begining for your project? I thought it might look quite good to show them how they were back then. Anyway, if you want them let me know and I will be happy to upload them for you. I think I have just about everyone on the list - even Roly and Willy, lol Gungadin 19:20, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

Lou Beale

Hey there, I notice you have been adding information to Lou Beale's profile which is great. The only trouble you are posting information that has not been confirmed on or off screen as far as I'm aware. How do you know Ronnie was married to a Gail who ran the market stall before moving away? How do you know Lou had other children who all moved away in their twenties. If they truly had moved away wouldn't we have expected them to be mentioned over the years, or at least turn up at their mother's funeral!

Response to Trampikey

As You've probably watched a lot of my articles, I tend to keep stuff brief. That's my way of getting the ball rolling. If people want to add stuff, feel free. A lot of people on this site create stuff with gaping holes that usually require some additional assistance. After all, We all help each other out (excl. those who vandalise article)...

Conquistador2k6 22:00, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

re:Lou

Yeh probably. Weird that she just picked that name randomly though, I was wondering if it was mentioned elsewhere. It's a shame they dont re-screen civvy st. I'b be really interested to see that now. Apparently one of Lou's sisters appeared in EE at her funerl, Flo [3] (btw, type flo into the search bar), she allegedly mentioned that the others had all died, but I dont have any references to validate this though, just hearsay. August Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: To-Do List
The Esperanza To-Do List is a place where you may list any request, big or small, for assistance. If you need help with archiving your usertalk, for example, all you need to do is list it here and somebody will help you out. Likewise, if you need help with some area of editing on Wikipedia, list it here! Again, any matter, trivial or not, can be placed on this page. However, all matters listed on this page must not be of an argumentative nature. You do not need to be a member of Esperanza (or this program) to place or fulfill requests on this page. If you don't have any requests, consider coming by and fulfilling a few! This program has not been very active, but has lots of potential!
What's New?
In order to help proposed programs become specific enough to make into full-fledged programs, the In development section of the proposals page has been created. Proposals that are promising, but need to be organized in more detail are listed here. Please take a look at what is there, and help the proposals turn into programs.
To improve both the layout and text of the front page, in an attempt to clarify the image of Esperanza, the front page is going to have some redesigning take place. Please take your creative minds to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Front page redesign to brainstorm good ideas.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
  1. In order to make sure all users who join Esperanza are welcomed, a list of volunteers who are willing to welcome new Esperanzians is at Wikipedia:Esperanza/Members#Esperanza_welcomers. Please add yourself if you are interested; we want to make sure all new Esperanza members are welcomed!
  2. The In development section of the proposals page has been created.
  3. Proposals page: Some proposals have been moved to the aforementioned "In development" section, some have been left as a proposal, and others have been archived. For those proposals that were a good idea but didn't necessarily constitute a program, General Esperanzial Actions has been created.
  4. Two small pieces of charter reform will be decided on in a straw poll at Wikipedia talk:Esperanza/Governance. One involves filling the position of any councillors who may leave, the other involves reforming the charter.
  5. Until cooperation with the Kindness Campaign is better defined, it remains as a proposed program.
  6. There is a page for discussing the front page redesign.

Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may add yourself to Wikipedia:Esperanza/Newsletter/Opt Out List.

Hi, Trampikey. Next time, please report such incidences to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism; there should be multiple admins at a time monitoring that page, so vandalism reports are usually taken care of more quickly (I was offline when you left that message). I'm going to let this one slide, as Fob182 seems to have stopped, but I'll issue a block next time he vandalizes, or report to WP:AIV if you get to it first. ;) Regards, Sango123 13:37, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

She could vandalise and people would think it was me at a glance! Trampikey (talk to me)(contribs) 17:04, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

Try not to assume bad faith. If somebody new to Wikipedia doesn't realise the problems that can occur with usernames, they might pick a username similar to somebody else's without realising the problems they might cause. J Ditalk 17:06, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
