There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are a few ideas:

To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. You can create your own personal sandbox for use any time. It's perfect for working on bigger projects. Then for easy access in the future, you can put {{My sandbox}}
on your user page. By the way, seeing as you haven't created a user page yet, simply click here to start it.
Please remember to:
- Always sign your posts on talk pages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes
~~~~
at the end of your post. This will automatically insert your signature, a link to your talk page, and a timestamp. - Leave descriptive edit summaries for your edits. Doing so helps other editors understand what changes you have made and why you made them.
[edit]Hello, I'm MichaelMaggs. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, A Visit from St. Nicholas, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. MichaelMaggs (talk) 22:15, 23 January 2021 (UTC)
Greenman (talk) 17:53, 21 February 2021 (UTC)Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Walt500. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Lucian W. Dressel, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. – NJD-DE (talk) 18:30, 25 September 2021 (UTC)
Crimson Cabernet moved to draftspace
[edit]You have created an article, Crimson Cabernet, on a topic you have a conflict of interest. Thus I have moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline, and there are no issues about the article being promotional, and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Please also have a look at the guideline on autobiographies. – NJD-DE (talk) 16:15, 9 April 2022 (UTC)
April 2022
[edit]Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. Please read above the message about conflict of interest, and take the appropriate steps. Your username makes it quite evident you have a connection with "Davis Viticultural Research" and the Dressel family. – NJD-DE (talk) 16:18, 9 April 2022 (UTC)
- HI, I understand and appreciate your concerns. I am a former Indy driver but now have a much safer job working as a consultant in a field that I have always loved, grapes and wine. I have clients from CA to NJ and have done work for many wineries over the years including Mt. Pleasant which Lucian Dressel owned 25 years ago. I think he is a very important figure in the Missouri wine picture. I would hope that my extensive background in the wine industry and my almost unavoidable familiarity with Dressel would not be a disqualifier for me to contribute to the article. Also it would appear that the weasel words have been eliminated. Do you agree, and if so, how could the statement be revised. Thanks again for your help, comments and clarifications. 50.40.99.135 (talk) 15:59, 18 June 2022 (UTC)
