Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Flag of Lithuania has been reverted.
Your edit here to Flag of Lithuania was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8giqpUe7W2Y&index=4&list=PLGi516TrwSqANoRNFBg0PlSpFHJBx8iMw) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy, as well as other parts of our external links guideline. If the information you linked to is indeed in violation of copyright, then such information should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file, or consider linking to the original.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to Flag of Lithuania. Wikipedia is not a collection of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links may include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Jim1138 (talk) 20:43, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Flag of Albania. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia.

@Jim1138: Hi Jim. I'm not sure why these links are considered inappropriate. They are directly related to the page content. I notice there is another link to a website called 'Flags of the World' which appears on every world flag page, so I'm puzzled as to why one is acceptable and the other isn't. Thanks. Wikiadz (talk) 20:57, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia does have its problems. One bad external link doesn't justify another. See wp:ELNO, wp:selfpublished, and wp:YouTube (some overlap) Jim1138 (talk) 21:28, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Jim1138: Hi Jim, ok I understand. Having read the section about YouTube, I notice it mentions 'copyright' a lot. If I was able to prove that I own the videos would it be ok to have them on there? Or is it a problem that it's my personal channel? I can't see why really. The videos are informative, educational, relevant to the wiki page material, and people enjoy them - they say it helps them to remember the flag. Thanks. Wikiadz (talk) 21:49, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is often one of accountability. On YouTube, one can say most anything with little chance of repercussion. The most that could happen is the account is taken down. Nobody should trust a YouTube video unless it is released by say, New York Times, CNN, etc. If they mess up, the NYT's reputation would be tarnished; they have (or should have) editorial oversight. Someone to double and triple check that information has been properly vetted. In critical cases, checks to make sure it is not some false-flag operation. This seldom happens on wp:selfpublished sources. Hence, WP:NOTRS. Hope this helps. Cheers Jim1138 (talk) 22:31, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
