Thank you @The person who loves reading!
It has been some time since I drafted the Plastic Free July edits so I'll dust it off, follow your tips and then submit it for posting.
I am interested about being "adopted" by a more experienced editors. I'll follow this up once I have finished the basic PFJ edits.

Thanks for your contributions! I took a quick look at the draft article, and found some external links in the body of the article. It's better to create an external link section to list all external links there, because external links normally should not be placed in the body of the article per WP:External links. Happy editing! The person who loves reading (talk) 14:44, 16 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much @The person who loves reading!
I'll create an external link section now and then remove the links from the body of the article.
Do you think the draft article will then be ready for submitting as a post?
I can add the photos to the next version as I'm finding the rules about them a bit tricky to understand. 'Willow106 (talk) 03:50, 18 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Most draft articles are declined not because of content reasons, but because of the lack of reliable, secondary, and independent sources with significant coverage, not just a passing mention.
Some sources are reliable, but some sources are not. According to this request for comment (Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 244#RfC: Wound characteristics of military-style rifles), the New York Times is a reliable source. According to Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 274#RfC: "CNN" (October) and Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard/Archive 307#RFC on CNN, CNN is a reliable source. Articles on Forbes written by their staff are considered reliable, but articles on Forbes written by contributors are considered unreliable. Thank you, The person who loves reading.
I inadvertently submitted the article. Can I retrieve it to make the changes you suggest?
Also, I am unclear about your advice regarding reliable sources. How else do I show the information presented is from reliable and unbiased source/s? I thought the footnotes and references would be adequate. Or, is it something else I need to do? I will read the links you provided in case they answer my question before I hear from you. Willow106 (talk) 13:50, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I can't find an article that's be submitted, so I'm unable to answer the first question. However, there's a draft article named Draft:Plastic Free July being previously deleted because of speedy deletion criteria (CSD) G11. Only administrators can retrieve its content, and it's almost impossible because it is deleted by G11.
You can check whether a source is reliable or not here. You don't need to show the information presented is from reliable and unbiased sources - a WP:WAFC participant will check when you submitted this article for review. Here are some policies and guidelines related to reliable sources: WP:RS, WP:V, WP:CS. You can find a full list of policies and guidelines here. Some important policies and guidelines related to new articles: WP:N, WP:TITLE, WP:MOS, WP:SS, WP:NPOV, WP:NOR, WP:C, WP:CV, WP:DP. The person who loves reading (talk) 18:01, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
When you submit your draft for review, this article needs to be moved to draft namespace. I can help you perform the page move (User:Willow106/sandbox --> Draft:Plastic Free July) if you wish. You can also do it because you're autoconfirmed. The person who loves reading (talk) 18:11, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, The person who loves reading.
I've looked at the policies you provided and, from my novice view, feel the page complies. I've added a title to the draft page and think the draft page is ready for submitting for review, unless you have picked up on any other suggested changes.
I would appreciate you help performing the page move when you have time to do so. I am finding the Wikipedia writing experience rather tricky to navigate and your insights very helpful.
Thanks again. Willow106 (talk) 02:14, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! The page has been moved to the draft namespace. Just a note that pages in draft namespace will be deleted if not edited for 6 months by speedy deletion criteria G13. Your user sandbox has been automatically changed into a redirect to the draft page, and you can delete the redirect to write another article or test edits.
There are some useful links on the draft template. There are also some tools to help edit articles and find sources in the editor resources section of the draft template. When you're ready, you can submit the draft for review, and wait for a WP:WAFC participant to review the article. This usually takes 4 months or more. However, you can also directly create this article in the mainspace and wait for a WP:new page reviewer to decide whether the page is suitable for mainspace (since you're autoconfirmed). New page reviewer will review your page within 3 months, and tag the article for issues, list it at WP:AFD if the reviewer believe that this article should not remain in the mainspace, or WP:CSD the article if it meets the speedy deletion criteria. If you're interested in whether the page is searchable via a search engine, see WP:INDEXING. The person who loves reading (talk) 02:43, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you The person who loves reading.
I've submitted the draft article for review. Unfortunately I didn't find the mainspace option in time. Is it possible to submit to Mainspace also?
Either way, I will keep editing it. I notice there is an option to seek further feedback on the draft article. Do you suggest doing this?
Hopefully, the article will be posted soon. Willow106 (talk) 13:47, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You can delete the submission template and move Draft:Plastic Free July --> Plastic Free July to get this article in the mainspace. I can help you move into the mainspace if you wish, but you can perform it since you're autoconfirmed. Drafts are easily declined because of the lack of sources, but you can't list an unsourced mainspace article to AFD if the article has multiple reliable, independent, and secondary sources with significant coverage. If you want it to be searchable via the search engine, moving it to the mainspace is a good option. If it is in the mainspace, after 90 days, it will be searchable by search engines. However, if it is in the draft space now, you will need to wait 210 days (almost the maximum).
You can seek further feedback if you decide to keep it in the draft space, but you may need to wait for a long time. If you want to seek help, you can ask it here since this project is more suitable to the draft topic and more activities are found here than other WikiProject talk pages. Thank you, The person who loves reading.
I have just moved the article to the Mainspace. I also ticked the box for Watch Source Page as well as the Move Talk option. I didn't specify deleting the submission template. Do you suggest I correct or tidy up anything at this stage?
Meanwhile, I'll keep working on the article, which is now in mainspace, and will also try adding some photos and graphics.
It is exciting to get to this stage. Thanks again for your help! Willow106 (talk) 01:03, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello The person who loves reading,
I would appreciate your kind offer of help as I didn't work out how to remove the template when I moved the article into the mainspace. Would you please do this and also give me tips for how to do it for future reference?
Thank you Willow106 (talk) 02:40, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
When you move the article to the mainspace, you will probably see these kind of templates: {{Draft topics|technology}} {{AfC topic|org}} {{AfC submission|||ts=20230531093554|u=Willow106|ns=118}} {{AfC submission/draft}} . I already deleted them in the article. The person who loves reading (talk) 14:02, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your help with removing the template and for providing the guidance, The person who loves reading. It is helping me become a more useful contributor.Willow106 (talk) 03:54, 3 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:PFJ-Badge-Choose.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:PFJ-Badge-Choose.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 05:30, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Plastic Free July moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Plastic Free July. Unfortunately, it is not ready for publishing because it is promotional and reads like an advertisement and you may have a possible Conflict of Interest. Your article is now a draft where you can improve it undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. signed, Rosguill talk 22:48, 6 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
