Hallow

The article D.Gray-man Hallow was created was as a originally episode list and then got moved. You think it should remain like that. I also have some source about the first D.Gray-man series but I don't know they warrant a split from the manga section. Several parts from D.Gray-man include content from the TV series so I wanted to hear your opinion. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 22:12, 13 November 2023 (UTC)

@Tintor2: I think that it would be a good idea to make a D.Gray-man (TV series) article, given that there are enough sources out there to warrant notability. Regarding Hallow, if there is enough coverage, it could be structured as the Psycho-Pass 2 article, i.e. include plot, production and episodes sections in the same article. Xexerss (talk) 23:20, 13 November 2023 (UTC)
Cool. I'll work on it in my sandbox.Tintor2 (talk) 23:58, 13 November 2023 (UTC)

My first sandbox example page?

I was planning on using TADC characters as the example for how a character page works, considering that they originally had them. Is it okay? DorkLore (talk) 23:20, 15 November 2023 (UTC)

@DorkLore: Yes. You can use your sandbox page however you want as long as long as you're planning to edit constructively. Xexerss (talk) 23:43, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
Yeah, but I might want to use a made-up anime as a sandbox example for how the manga pages work. Is that fine? DorkLore (talk) 23:56, 15 November 2023 (UTC)
@DorkLore: It's preferable that you add references and such while testing. For stuff such as character sections, where is not necessary to include references (besides from voice actors and such), I suppose that is fine if you want to practice writing about made-up characters, but I don't think that's a good idea if you want to improve your editing skills in other aspects that clearly need published citations. Xexerss (talk) 00:13, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
Ok. I’m currently working on a Pomni page. Are the colors of the character infoboxes still allowed? DorkLore (talk) 00:14, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
Also, about the references…even if it’s a made-up anime used for an example, should I like make some sources? DorkLore (talk) 00:20, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
@DorkLore: Sorry, I don't really know about the infobox colors. I suggest you to ask at WP:TEA. Xexerss (talk) 00:23, 16 November 2023 (UTC)
I asked them. DorkLore (talk) 00:25, 16 November 2023 (UTC)

One question

@Xexerss Did you find any good sources for create two seinen manga Tenkan Hero Wars and Tokyo Duel? Venom5122 (talk) 05:03, 19 November 2023 (UTC)

@Venom5122: No. I'm not planning to create those articles and I never said that I will. Xexerss (talk) 08:34, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
So when are you going to work on them? Because they are similar to Record of Ragnarok Venom5122 (talk) 09:34, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
@Venom5122: Honestly, I don't know if you're deliberately ignoring what I say or you're just trolling. Anyway, I don't think I will create those articles in the time being, so stop asking me about them. Xexerss (talk) 09:39, 19 November 2023 (UTC)

Under Ninja

Hello, I saw your comment about broadcast delays being non-relevant to the topic at hand. I just need to understand where are you coming from, not just citing sources that prove this point. I already had a problem with one user who's very excessive on this "bug", so please state if you need any sources, I would be glad to give it to you. Otherwise, I'm reverting the undoing of that small note. KANLen09 (talk) 19:13, 23 November 2023 (UTC)

@KANLen09: I think this needs further discussion at WP:A&M's talk page if you want. But anyway, I don't see the point in noting delays of some minutes when they don't have any effect on the actual release date. We note when a series airs at midnight just to clarify the actual release date. Per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Anime and manga#Media: "For shows that are broadcast on or after midnight in their country of origin, use the actual airdate instead of the advertised media date. For example, an episode advertised for April 2, 2015 at "24:30" or "深夜00:30" has an actual airdate of April 3, 2015 at 12:30am, so use "April 3, 2015". Add a footnote if the cited references cannot sufficiently explain the situation."
I'd like to know what kind of useful information does the article provide when noting that an episode, instead of airing at 00:30 aired at 00:35? This may be worth noting if, for example, an episode instead of being broadcast at 23:30 was broadcast at 00:10, now, that would really affect the actual release date, but the other short delays seem rather anecdotal. Xexerss (talk) 20:03, 23 November 2023 (UTC)
It's just an unwritten rule that only applies to the change in broadcast time, especially in Japan where the time change does not affect the time of day. If you go to check on Japanese TV programming broadcasts (for Under Ninja from TBS) the timing has always been different due to programming shifts based on the TV network's scheduling.
And just for the record, I have never once encountered any sort of issue with anyone about this for quite a long time, that is until a certain user who is rather egregious with this measure, which cites sources even when in Japan, it's literally on the same day. Also, the WP:A&M only states for the actual premiere date, not minor changes like these.KANLen09 (talk) 20:12, 23 November 2023 (UTC)
@KANLen09: I just showed you what WP:A&M says to evidence when it's relevant to mention time related issues. I propose again to discuss this at WP:A&M's talk page if you still have issues. Also, another editor removed this kind of edits before, so I don't think I'm the only one who find these notes rather superfluous. Xexerss (talk) 20:22, 23 November 2023 (UTC)

Jujutsu Kaisen

Revert because? The next paragraph is the same. Homei (talk) 13:50, 19 November 2023 (UTC)

@Homei: What do you mean? The content of the synopsis section is about the series' universe. Per MOS:PLOTSOURCE, that kind of content does not need to be sourced with in-line citations. What you added, on the other hand, is just original research from your part, and has nothing to do with synopsis. Xexerss (talk) 13:56, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
I see. Thanks for the reply.
I deleted the original research.
The original definition of Jujutsu Kaisen as Sorcery Fight in the intro is unsourced though. Homei (talk) 14:04, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
@Xexerss jisho is the most extensive Japanese dictionary in the English language. Any word that can be found is a sourced word, any word that cannot be found is a neologism. There is no proof of existence of Kaisen as a word. Why was it translated as Fight in the intro section? Homei (talk) 14:11, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
@Homei: It's just a rough translation. It could be discussed at the talk page if it should be kept or removed. The thing is, if the dictionary doesn't give any definition, you cannot say that it is a "newly coined term from Sino-Japanese roots meaning "turning" and "battle"" if there's nothing in the source provided supporting that statement. Xexerss (talk) 14:14, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
@Xexerss What about this source: https://www.dexerto.com/anime/jujutsu-kaisen-the-true-meaning-behind-the-title-explained-2206740/
There are countless sources like the one above. I would consider it relevant. Homei (talk) 14:17, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
@Homei: Based on Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources, I'm more inclined to think that is not a good source. Xexerss (talk) 14:21, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
@Xexerss What about https://www.cbr.com/jujutsu-kaisen-meaning/ Comic Book Resources? Which in turn cites https://sekaikokeshi.com/jujutsukaisen/. I think CBR is notable for pop culture. Homei (talk) 14:38, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
@Homei: I suggest you to better discuss it at the article's talk page. I just say that if a translation of the title were to be added, it would be better to leave it as an explanatory footnote at the lead of the article instead of making an entire section in the body. Xexerss (talk) 14:52, 19 November 2023 (UTC)
Sometimes I'm a bit flustered about making contributions, but it was still nice going through the whole review process. 👍 Homei (talk) 20:15, 29 November 2023 (UTC)

Gojo being based on Naruto character is from the Jujutsu Kaisen fanbook. Akutami reflects there that everybody kept insisting he used Kakashi Hatake instead.Tintor2 (talk) 23:11, 21 November 2023 (UTC)

@Tintor2: It's preferable to directly cite the book instead of Anime Senpai in that case. The website mentions two unofficial Twitter accounts as sources. Xexerss (talk) 00:05, 22 November 2023 (UTC)

Question about a MOS

Hello, Can you tell me which MOS says we should change titles like "volume List" to "Volumes" and "Episode List" to "Episodes"? I want to know where and in which articles I should do this change. Parham.es (talk) 11:05, 27 November 2023 (UTC)

@Parham.es: It has something to do with MOS:TV standard formatting. I'm not the one who started to apply those changes, but they seem to be more appropriate for conciseness' sake. Xexerss (talk) 15:14, 27 November 2023 (UTC)
I see, so my question is should I also do this for articles like "list of x episodes"? like Classroom of the Elite Season 1, or you think I should just do it for normal anime articles that have the episode and volume list in their main article. Parham.es (talk) 15:50, 27 November 2023 (UTC)
@Parham.es: I'd say that it's preferable to change the heading from "Episode / Volume list" to just "Episodes / Volumes" in the lists of anime articles as well. Xexerss (talk) 15:59, 27 November 2023 (UTC)
Alright then, one last thing, I know this is irrelevant and it's just me nitpicking but based on template:Series overview if we want to add a special episode to the Series overview table it should be like what I just did in here, but before I change it, it was like this: https://w.wiki/8HsB
Just wanted to know your opinion to see If what I did is okay. I mean I did it exactly the way its template suggested it. Since it's just one single episode I rather the table just say special instead of special and then in front of it it says 1 episode, Also If we want to do it with episode count, it should be "S" not Special. again, this is nitpicking but want to know your opinion on this. Parham.es (talk) 16:24, 27 November 2023 (UTC)
@Parham.es: What you did looks fine to me. Xexerss (talk) 16:37, 27 November 2023 (UTC)
Alright then, thanks for everything. :) Parham.es (talk) 16:38, 27 November 2023 (UTC)

ʻOkina and apostrophe

Hello,

Regarding this edit (Special:Diff/1188489329) to The JoJoLands, I reverted it because the ʻokina is not interchangeable with the apostrophe; it is a consonant in the Hawaiian alphabet. Use of the ʻokina in Hawaiian names and places is preferred according to MOS:HAWAII.

Hi @Xexerss, I'd like you to make the article for the manga series Koori no Jyouheki (a.k.a "Ice Castle Wall" or "The Ramparts of Ice"). It's a manga series that was written by Koucha Agasawa before she began You and I Are Polar Opposites. I've considered making the article in the past, but I've always felt eluded by the fact that it was published on Line Manga. It recently began releasing volumes in Japan thanks to Shueisha. It was also voted highly on AnimeJapan's manga to anime poll earlier in the year. Would you please consider making it? SimonLagann (talk) 10:58, 13 December 2023 (UTC)

Because I don't understand where to put it and where not. If you look at the Dandadan article, there is in the infobox but not in the introduction. In many other articles there isn't at all Fleyzk (talk) 10:05, 15 December 2023 (UTC)

@Fleyzk: See WP:OTHERCONTENT. The template can be added in the lead of the Dandadan article as well (it's just that no one has bothered to do so yet). There's nothing wrong with using the template once per section (including lead and the infobox). That being said, I don't understand why you're removing these links in several articles. I recall that you did the same in the Shangri-La Frontier article, referring to MOS:OVERLINK, even though that's has nothing to do with the former. For more information about its purpose, see Template:Interlanguage link. Xexerss (talk) 10:19, 15 December 2023 (UTC)

Some mass amount of edits for you I guess, Also why did you undid the 100% width with this table, now It looks cramped. Is there a way to make it automatic? because I'm not using the limited width in Vector 2022, that's just awful. Parham.es (talk) 11:23, 11 October 2023 (UTC)

To be honest I thought that too and that is why I undid my edit, then went to test it with the extended width style of Vector 2022 and with Vector legacy and that was when I found out the table looked cramped, thanks for your answer. Parham.es (talk) 11:34, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
I tried my best to edit as much article as possible for MOS:INFOBOXPURPOSE, but I might ask for your help if an edit war occur for this (even though there shouldn't be an issue since we have a MOS for it.) Parham.es (talk) 09:24, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
@Parham.es: Thank you. Yeah, this shouldn't cause an edit warring, and I've seen other editors editing in adherence to the MOS recently. Xexerss (talk) 09:38, 15 October 2023 (UTC)
I was searching for a similar topic on this anyways, since I've been editing based on old Wikipedia standards that somehow has changed with MOS:INFOBOXPURPOSE over the years of more complex episode lists and the "unnecessary" need to link the table of contents to the various sections already in the article (which IMO, is rather clunky and confusing if the article is spread too long).
Anyways, on a side note @Xexerss I've been taking notes on what should and should not be included as per WP:NOTDATABASE and WP:WHATISTOBEDONE, so this is my compromise for better editing going forward. KANLen09 (talk) 02:29, 26 December 2023 (UTC)
@KANLen09: Thank you. Look, as I said before, I understand how difficult it is to get used to the MOS after a long time editing contrary to what is indicated, but there is always the possibility to discuss the issue on the MOS' talk page to explain the disagreements that we may have. Please, take into account WP:COMMUNICATE. Anyway, I sincerely appreciate your response on the matter and compromise for better editing. I hope we can cooperate constructively from now on and put aside any kind of conflict we may have had before. Cheers. Xexerss (talk) 03:15, 26 December 2023 (UTC)

Another new article to create for you

Hi @Xexerss, there is another new article to create about a manga series by Michiro Ueyama serialized in Young King Ours GH since March 2020, can you create it? It's Akuyaku Reijō Tensei Oji-san, and it also has an article in Japanese: https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/悪役令嬢転生おじさん.

Thanks. Tebus19 (talk) 10:30, 28 December 2023 (UTC)

Frieren

I was just gathering sources in case Frieren's character can have her own article but the huge amount of articles primarily centered around rather than just reviews make it ridiculously easy for her to pass notability. However, I doubt there is that much creation información around her. Any thoughts? Tintor2 (talk) 00:29, 11 December 2023 (UTC)

@Tintor2: I support the idea of creating an article for the character, but it would be great to have some references regarding her conception and creation as well. I don't know if there are interviews and that sort of thing available out there. Xexerss (talk) 02:41, 11 December 2023 (UTC)
Made Frieren (character). Still has more potential but I took the best sources for the reception from other articles. Tintor2 (talk) 19:36, 11 December 2023 (UTC)

ANN's Encylcopedia Not Being A Reliable Source

Wait. If Anime News Network's encyclopedia doesn't count as a reliable source here on Wikipedia, then why was it permitted on "The Orbital Children" then? -Prince Silversaddle (talk) 02:38, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

@Prince Silversaddle: I don't think it was "permitted". Take into account that anyone can edit in Wikipedia without adhering to any to any MOS or guideline. I personally hadn't even noticed that, but it should be removed, or better yet, replaced with a better source. As for why it is not realiable, it's because it is a WP:USERG source, and just like Wikipedia, anyone can edit it. Xexerss (talk) 02:52, 5 January 2024 (UTC)

Images for some yuri titles.

Hi @Xexerss I wanted to ask you if you could add images for some yuri manga that got Wikipedia articles last year, most notably the ones created by @Radiotsixty. Titles like Futari Escape, Assorted Entanglements, Éclair: A Girls' Love Anthology That Resonates in Your Heart, Monthly in the Garden with My Landlord, I Married My Female Friend, I Don't Know Which Is Love, Yuri Life, Secret of the Princess, Mizuno and Chayama, Gokujou Drops, Tadokoro-san, Strawberry Fields Once Again and so much more. You should do these whenever you're free from your tasks. Thanks. Venom5122 (talk) 12:58, 8 January 2024 (UTC)

Sourcing of common knowledge

You recently removed my addition from "The Masterful Cat is Depressed Again Today".

If you review the content of the Wikipedia page for "I am a Cat", you should see the connection between the works is quite plain. The pronoun "wagahai" is not in common use; it remains in existence due to "I am a Cat". Both works feature a cat as a narrator. Jeimuzusan (talk) 04:47, 9 January 2024 (UTC)

@Jeimuzusan: What you're adding is pure WP:ORIGINAL. You must provide WP:RS to support whatever you're adding. If you're unable to do so, please, just leave the article as it is. Xexerss (talk) 04:50, 9 January 2024 (UTC)

Platinum End English VA Cast

Hey @Xexerss, I understand there are some missing/unsourced English VA in Platinum End. I will need some help citing the English VA that I only found on third-party websites like Anime News Network and Behind the Voice Actors. Please and thank you if you can. I will be working on the episode summaries for the List of Platinum End episodes in the meantime.

AnimeEditor (communicatordatabase) 15:25, 9 January 2024 (UTC)

@AnimeEditor: Hi. The thing is that I tried to find sources for the VAs that you added before removing them, but I couldn't find anything other than WP:USERG sites. According to the sources used on ANN, apparently they're credited on the Blu-ray release, but I'm unable to verify that. Xexerss (talk) 15:59, 9 January 2024 (UTC)
So we just leave them blank?
AnimeEditor (communicatordatabase) 16:05, 9 January 2024 (UTC)
Considering WP:NOTTRUTH, I'd say yes. If an editor can verify the credits somehow, they can reference the episodes with Template:Cite AV media. Xexerss (talk) 16:27, 9 January 2024 (UTC)

Mob Psycho 100 drama CD

Hi there! Thanks for all your hard work on anime/manga articles (and fixing my bad citations...). I was thinking of adding the tracklist for the MP100 drama CD that I added to the article, so I'll probably make that edit later tonight. There's a pretty popular fan-sub of the CD on Youtube, but I'm not sure if I should cite it/add it to the article since it's not official. Thoughts? Dognamedguinefort (talk) 20:09, 16 January 2024 (UTC)

@Dognamedguinefort: Hi. As far as I've seen, articles tend to include the tracklist of the series' soundtrack (e.g. in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba or Berserk (1997 TV series)), but I don't know of cases where the tracks from the drama CD are included (I don't think there is something that prohibits it though). In any case, the CD is assumed to be the primary source and doesn't usually require citations. Xexerss (talk) 20:22, 16 January 2024 (UTC)

Reverted edit in Delicious in Dungeon

Hi. You have reverted an edit of mine in the Delicious in Dungeon and removed a website and added another reference to a different paragraph. However, the location and the new reference do not really support the reason behind my edit (which I summarized as "a reference to the old d&d similarity"). If you go through the history of the article, you can see that the reference to the Dungeons and Dragons go way back. The text used to refer to AD&D at some point, because AD&D placed a more significant role to the tracking of supplies and equipment. Over the years the text got modified and ended up with its current form.

Since the description of the plot is not sourced, from the above mentioned history, it looks like it has been written casually by multiple wikipedia contributors over the years . This was not something I liked, so I wanted to find whether there are indeed sources that explicitly related the subject matter to "old versions of D&D". (A borderline case of WP:NOR: Who states that the subject matter is similar to the old versions of a particular game?). I agree that Kotaku is a much better source with a long history (and corresponding notability), but it is also not a book, academic article or newspaper, it is still a web blog. And it does not really address the weakness in the article that I was trying to address. Erkcan (talk) 13:29, 6 February 2024 (UTC)

@Erkcan: Hi. Kotaku is the only site I could find mentioning the similarity to D&D (though not specifically the old version of the game) that is, at least, listed as "situational" at WP:VG/S. Now, to be frank, I'm not sure about the reliability of The Nerd Stash. I couldn't find any precedent or discussions about the reliablity of the site, so I propose rephrasing the sentence (perhaps without necessarily mentioning the "old D&D" part) or discussing whether it's fine or not to cite The Nerd Stash. Xexerss (talk) 14:01, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
The statement that the subject material is quite similar to old D&D is actually apparent to me as well, but my personal opinion does not matter. There are discussions on reddit which also mention the same opinion (ex: [2]), as well as other blogs (ex: [3]), so it seems like the statement about the similarity is not a matter of opinion of a single person or two. Would it be reasonable to cite the Kotaku article together with the one from The Nerd Stash? Alternatively, we can remove the D&D related phrase altogether. Erkcan (talk) 16:31, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
@Erkcan: It's fine with me if it's completely removed. It's not a comparison that affects the plot itself to begin with. Xexerss (talk) 22:01, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
Done. Cheers. Erkcan (talk) 07:20, 7 February 2024 (UTC)

a User

Hi @Xexerss, This user is editing and reverting the edits without any explanation, Can you give the user a warning? M.A.LasTroniN910t@lk 16:48, 6 February 2024 (UTC)

Can it be used alone in the genre or should we use the Martial Arts genre? Because this manga is specifically about swordsmanship. M.A.LasTroniN910t@lk 09:26, 12 February 2024 (UTC)

@M.A.LasTroniN910: I don't know if that can be treated as a genre. I think that "martial arts" or maybe chanbara would be better, but if there are no sources explicitly using those terms, I guess it should be left as it is for the time being. Maybe you should ask at WP:A&M's talk page for other opinions. Cheers. Xexerss (talk) 15:18, 12 February 2024 (UTC)

A new section in info box for new seasons that have new name

Hello, As far as I know if a season of anime has name for it self, whether it's a letter like "S" or a word like "Alicization" (SAO) or even something like "2nd attack" which is something like 2nd season but a little different (anime studios like to play with words :D) will have its own section in info box. Also I found this article to back it up: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Infobox_animanga#Usage

I also asked this from other editors some time ago and the thing I found out is that sometimes we have exception but overall this is correct.

Now the problem that I have is that an editor has a different idea about this and they are backing their opinion by providing some other articles that probably should have a new section for their new seasons and don't for whatever reasons and because of this they say Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki should also follow them in this matter. I mean this doesn't even make any sense. First of all there are no rules that says every article should be a copy/paste from one another and second of all just because some editors didn't care to add a new section it doesn't mean we should use those articles as a model am I correct? We also shouldn't forget about the exception part I mentioned.

Anyway you can clearly see what I'm saying by checking this: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Bottom-tier_Character_Tomozaki&action=history Can you please tell me your opinion in here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Bottom-tier_Character_Tomozaki

I genuinely want to know your opinion on this matter.Parham.es(talk) 18:15, 13 February 2024 (UTC)

@Parham.es: Honestly, it is not very clear to me what the criteria is for knowing when to separate the components or leave it as one. In my opinion, if there are no substantial differences in the production and staff of each series (or season, whatever one may want to call it), and there is not a considerable distance of time between each one (i.e. more than four years), I generally would advocate leaving it as one component, regardless of the title. I'm not sure if there is a universal approach for this though. For example, an editor considered that the the two seasons of Black Lagoon (TV series) should have been combined as one component. In the Kaguya-sama: Love Is War (TV series) article the subtitles were placed at top. Perhaps the latter option would be reasonable for the Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki article, but that's just what I think. Xexerss (talk) 19:01, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
I see, Kaguya-sama is actually a good way to handle this, because as I said in the talk page of Bottom-tier Character Tomozaki article I am kinda on the same page with the other editor since they made a valid point about information being repetitive, Alright then, will go with Kaguya-sama's style.
Thanks for the help, it's always appreciated. Parham.es (talk) 19:08, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
Just wanted to say that I might not even use Kaguya-sama's style since we just have a season 2 right now and it might confuse some people that this section of infobox is just for Season 2 and season 1 doesn't have any, so I'll wait for a season 3 for this specially since the name of the season 2 is so close to being 2nd season. Parham.es (talk) 19:21, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
It sounds fine to me. Xexerss (talk) 19:23, 13 February 2024 (UTC)

Kurapika

Made an article for Kurapika. Still has far more potential considering the character plays a major role in the first movie (which I gotta first watch to edit that) but I couldn't find any google scholar article that heavily discusses the character even though I've seen some Hunter X Hunter essays focused on the androgynous aspect and personality of some characters. For the image I simply cut the silhoutte from a volume cover since it had the chains and red eyes but maybe the image could be better edited. Feel free to edit anything. Awards

I was curious about it. Should the awards from anime news network and animetrending also be mentioned? The first I used in an article was one Askeladd won in 2019 which helped backup his notability . Same with 2023 Thorfinn. While I'm not sure about animetrending, I have Ishiguro talking about it Last weekend when Heavenly Delusion won anime of the year. You find them worth it? Cheers. Tintor2 (talk) 16:30, 11 March 2024 (UTC)

@Tintor2: I think it is. I recall that the site was discussed a couple of times previously. The awards have been mentioned by Anime News Network and the site has been cited by them multiple times as well. Anitrendz have their own editorial team and have conducted several interviews with key figures in the field. I at least consider that they are a reliable source and the awards warrant notability. Xexerss (talk) 16:48, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
I see. What about listing the awards from the anime news network editors? At least I use them plus the commentary like with Frieren's title character which is also kinda new Tintor2 (talk) 17:19, 11 March 2024 (UTC)
I guess it's fine to mention them as well. Xexerss (talk) 17:38, 11 March 2024 (UTC)

Dr. Stone - Dr. STONE

Hi, I think that the stylized logo of Dr. Stone should be Dr. STONE, because even if it looks like "Dr.STONE", if official sites like Manga Plus and Crunchyroll write "Dr. STONE" it means that it's supposed to be written like that. Why should a simplified logo mean more than an official title? Fleyzk (talk) 14:02, 14 March 2024 (UTC)

@Fleyzk: But stylization refers to how the logo appears on the volumes of the series, not how certain platforms write the title. That's why in articles such as One Piece or Bleach (manga) stylization is denoted by "stylized in all caps". Also, stylization is usually denoted only when the series' title is rendered in Latin script in the original language (Japanese), so, in this case, it makes more sense to follow this instead of following the stylization used on some platforms. New article to create for you

Hi @Xexerss, need to separate the episodes for Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy as its own article. I'm afraid that the main page may be overloaded with the episodic content. KANLen09 (talk) 15:36, 9 January 2024 (UTC)

Although I admit that I myself have done splits for tables with the same amount of episodes before, MOS:TVSPLIT suggests that it should have around 50 to 60 episodes to warrant said split (I made those splits before familiarizing myself with the MOS). The truth is that there are a lot of articles that don't adhere to the MOS, but since WP:OTHERCONTENT is not an argument, I suppose that there are no issues with it right now. In any case, the 'Post-expand include size' of the article is currently at 407,735/2,097,152 bytes, so the table is not a problem right now (perhaps someone will do the split later on anyway, but I have to decline for now). New article to create for you

Hi @Xexerss, there's an article I'd like you to create for the manga series Gang King by Daiju Yanauchi. It was initially published in Shonen Gahosha's Young King magazine from 2003 to 2013, before switching publishers to Kodansha and resuming in Magazine Special in 2016, then got transferred to Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in 2017 and finally finished in Evening magazine in 2021. Can you create it? SimonLagann (talk) 16:52, 10 March 2024 (UTC)

@SimonLagann: Hi. I'm sorry, but I'm not interested in creating articles for the time being and I can't promise that I'll create it in the short term. The series may be notable, but given that it is a long-running series, gathering the sources to create it may take more time than I have at my disposal right now. Non-English anime licensee

This wiki doesn't have the template about Non-English anime licensee since not every anime can be license to the English anime licensee such as Crunchyroll, especially to the Asian markets where English wasn't their main language. (Crunchyroll did have English dubbing for some of their anime that was carried by another licensee in the Asian markets, such as Muse Communication and Medialink) VernardoLau (talk) 06:53, 23 March 2024 (UTC)

@VernardoLau: Hi. Sorry, but I don't quite understand your point. From what I understand, Medialink and Muse Asia have licensed a number of titles for English-speaking territories in Asia (there are English-speaking territories in South Asia and Southeast Asia, as you can see in their articles). I assume that when Medialink or Muse Asia post in English on their social networks that certain titles have been acquired it is because they are intended to be distributed for English-speaking audiences in the English-speaking territories where these companies operate. However, seeing that the Instagram publications regarding Muse Asia's distribution of Undead Unluck was only posted in Chinese, it seems unlikely that the acquisition is intended for English-speaking audiences. From what I understand, English is not officially spoken in Taiwan, and although Hong Kong does have a significant portion of the population that speaks English, just judging by the publication alone, it doesn't seem that the series' acquisition is intended for English-speaking audiences in those countries. Revert

Hey, wanted to respond to some points in your revert message on the Medalist (manga) page since it seems there's some misunderstanding.

You said "PV has not premiered yet" – but this is incorrect, because it had. I added it shortly after the premiere at 11 p.m. JST that day; the video was live and publicly viewable, and not region locked to Japan or anything like that. It also had official English subtitles and title metadata set by the studio, which were also viewable at that time. As a result, I honestly don't know what you're talking about or what this message means.

You also wrote that "the video is from a Japanese account, not an English one" – yes, because this is a Japanese show produced by a Japanese studio. Is that surprising…? And what's the issue? It's not likely that any English-language license will be announced in the near future, thus most sources regarding the show are going to be in Japanese. The source language of a reference has no bearing on its ability to be used in a Wikipedia article and, in fact, one should pretty obviously expect most sources about a show from Japan to be in Japanese, especially when it's nearly a year away from airing. –Fpmfpm (talk) 11:35, 22 March 2024 (UTC)

@Fpmfpm: 1) When you added the citation the video was not available for viewing yet. 2) In the 'language' parameter you added that it was in English, when obviously it was not. Xexerss (talk) 21:00, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
1) Yes it was.
2) I guess the citation tool got that one wrong and I didn't catch it. Would have been easier for you to simply fix it rather than remove it entirely!
Re: your edit message "Are you planning to post here every time a trailer is uploaded before the series is released?" – No, and why would you assume this? I think it's worth mentioning the first-ever trailer's release, nothing more. This is also done on many, many other anime-related articles (both shows and films – which your userpage says you're well-versed in editing, so I'd expect you to know this too. Here are some examples: Weathering with You, Summer Wars, Darker than Black, Children of the Sea (film), Chainsaw Man, Kids on the Slope, The Quintessential Quintuplets Movie, Laid-Back Camp (season 1), Shirobako: The Movie, Suzume, Onyx Equinox, The First Slam Dunk, Fruits Basket: Prelude, Devil May Cry (TV series), Sarazanmai, Exception (TV series), Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean. Happy to provide more if needed! As a result, I'll plan to add this back into the article shortly unless you still have objections. –Fpmfpm (talk) 12:08, 24 March 2024 (UTC)
@Fpmfpm: See WP:OTHERCONTENT. I at least don't see the encyclopedic value of simply mentioning the date when the trailer was posted (I think that the information provided by the trailer is more relevant than the trailer itself). It doesn't seem such a significant event compared to the other content mentioned in anime section (for the Medalist article at least). Xexerss (talk) 12:28, 24 March 2024 (UTC)
I'm aware there doesn't need to be consistency between articles, but there is a reason dozens and dozens of other editors have all come to the same conclusion that the information about a first-look teaser is often worth mentioning due to what it signals in a show's development timeline. I do understand where you're coming from, and think that it'd be helpful if you could try to understand why so many people view it as natural to include in articles like this as well. I agree – sure, I think we can say that the cast list, staff information, and exact on-air date were also revealed on that day, because along with the trailer's premiere revealing loads of new information, the official website was updated at the same time, and now today a second key visual has been released as well.
It's worth preserving that this is all happening now, in early 2024. Shouldn't the article aim to give people some sense of this production timeline, not just… serialization started in 2020, and then… boom, out of nowhere, the show premieres in 2025? It's natural to wonder: what happened in between, and when? (I just realized that the article doesn't even mention when the anime adaptation was announced, which should also be fixed, IMO.) The flurry of activity recently – fronted by the first-ever trailer releasing, letting people finally see the manga in a near-final animated form, full-color, with music and all – is a critical, key time in the show's development/production. If we're aiming to keep the article and that section comprehensive, it should be (briefly) mentioned, not overlooked completely or intentionally avoided. –Fpmfpm (talk) 12:52, 24 March 2024 (UTC)
@Fpmfpm: What do you mean with "the article doesn't even mention when the anime adaptation was announced"? The article literally has the sentence "An anime television series adaptation was announced on May 18, 2023"; isn't that enough? Most (if not all) TV series release trailers, key visuals and such to make themselves known to the audience, but I ask what is the point here of just mentioning the date a trailer was posted? What would our readers miss by not knowing this event? Xexerss (talk) 13:04, 24 March 2024 (UTC)
Let's see, my point is that I can see the relevance of mentioning when the announcement of an adaptation is made (for the mere fact that receiving an adaptation is something noteworthy), the staff (mainly to support the information that appears in the infobox), and the premiere/airing dates (likewise, for the infobox and for the eventual creation of episode list sections/articles). I don't see, however, the relevance of just mentioning the dates, without further context, when a trailer (or a key visual or similar) of a series is released. It's not that I'm strongly opposed to mentioning the event, it's just that I don't understand its relevance for the article and what is the encyclopedic contribution that it provides. It's also worth mentioning WP:NOTNEWS, and therefore, it's not like we have to mention every event related to the anime release to "give people some sense of this production timeline". Xexerss (talk) 14:11, 24 March 2024 (UTC)
OK. You clearly care about this a ton more than I do for this one single article, for some reason, so we can do it your way; I'm too lazy to keep arguing. I'm sure it'll get added in by someone else at some later point who hasn't had to deal with all of this, and you can keep being a cop to watch out for that. Take care. –Fpmfpm (talk) 00:37, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
@Fpmfpm: Sorry, but you were the only one who came all the way to my talk page for this whole thing instead of moving on, and I'm just explaining my reasons for removing what you added. You can think whatever you want about me for that. Xexerss (talk) 00:49, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
