WDGL (98.1 FM, "Eagle 98.1") is a classic rock music formatted radio station licensed to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The station, which is owned by Guaranty Broadcasting, operates at 98.1 MHz with an ERP of 100 kW. Its current slogan is "The ROCK Station." It is the flagship radio station for the Louisiana State University athletics broadcasts. Along with four other sister stations, its studios are housed at the Guaranty Group building on Government Street east of downtown, and its transmitter is located south of the city near the east bank of the Mississippi River.

History

98.1 signed on the air in 1968 as WAFB-FM and was the sister station to WAFB-TV. The station was affiliated with ABC Contemporary radio until the mid-1990s and Unistar Radio in the late 1990s. Their previous formats were easy listening, soft rock, disco, top 40 (as WGGZ, "Z98"), and oldies ("Oldies 98.1"). In 1995 they flipped to classic hits as "Eagle 98.1, Rock and Roll Classics" but would later shift to a classic rock format several months later.
