WMPV-TV is a religious television station in Mobile, Alabama, which broadcasts locally on digital channel 20 as an affiliate of Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN).

History

Founded in December 1985, the station is owned by TBN. The station broadcasts from a transmitter near Robertsdale, Alabama.

WMPV was the only full-powered station in the Mobile-Pensacola viewing area to transmit an analog signal past February 17, 2009, according to a list from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).[citation needed]

The station's signal is multiplexed:

21.2 Merit Merit Street Media

TBN-owned full-power stations permanently ceased analog transmissions on April 16, 2009.

WMPV-TV discontinued regular programming on its analog signal, over UHF channel 21, on that date. The station's digital signal remained on its pre-transition UHF channel 20.[2] Through the use of PSIP, digital television receivers display the station's virtual channel as its former UHF analog channel 21.
