History

The Milwaukee Journal Company began operation of WSAU June 20, 1947. Along with the purchase, the Journal Company absorbed the previous owner, Northern Broadcasting Company.[3] Originally broadcasting on 1400 Khz with 250 watts, later moving to the present 550 Khz, the frequency of the now defunct WOSA, which was owned and operated by Congressman Alvin E O'Konski, who later founded WAEO-TV, Rhinelander.
