Using bgcolor[edit]

How to add a background color to the cells in Series overview of Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi#Series overview?? - Pritam Shaw (talkcontribs) 06:39, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Pritam Shaw. Thanks for reaching out to to the help desk. The table that you are trying to edit on Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi#Series overview is not actually a fully customisable table. It's a template called {{Series overview}} which is used on many articles regarding television series. The template doesn't support adding background colour to individual cells at the moment so I'm afraid you are out of luck. You might want to read more about it at the template documentation. Regards, Field Marshal Aryan (talk) 10:16, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Pritam Shaw: There is another way to do so, using the {{TBA}} template, however, I would advice against using it as the table is pretty neat the way it is and doesn't need to be really fancy. Field Marshal Aryan (talk) 10:28, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Logo transparency[edit]

How to make the background of a company logo transparent? - Pritam Shaw (talkcontribs) 06:44, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The same way as you make the background of any other image transparent. If the image is a PNG, any reasonable image-editing software should be able to set a colour to transparent. If it's a JPG, I don't think it can be done, you'll need to convert it to PNG first. If it's an SVG, It should also be easy. If you've already uploaded the logo, and let me know where it is, I can do the conversion for you. Maproom (talk) 08:12, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
thumb, Thankyou - Pritam Shaw (talkcontribs) 09:14, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Done. The anti-aliasing in white (and a bit of pink) isn't good, but it's not too noticeable – it'll look worse if it's ever used on a dark background. If you want to avoid this problem, sent me the original image, and I'll change the background to transparent before the reduction in resolution. Maproom (talk) 14:32, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Moving page[edit]

Please move Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 5 to "Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi (season 5)". The Infobox has a fault due to name, it displays "Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 5" and again "Season 5". I tried it, but a page named "Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi (season 5)" already exists. Thankyou - Pritam Shaw (talkcontribs) 09:25, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Pritam Shaw: None of the seasons in Category:Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi have a name of that form. It seems either all or none should do it. You can remove "Season 5" from the infobox by removing "season_number = 5" in the code. PrimeHunter (talk) 09:46, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I want to do it with every season, to make it look as it is supposed to be "PERFECT". - Pritam Shaw (talkcontribs) 12:12, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Could anyone please help⬆️. - Pritam Shaw (talkcontribs) 14:32, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Pritam Shaw: Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 5 has a lot of sources with "Khatron Ke Khiladi 5" in the title. That appears to be the common name so I don't think the article should be moved. It's the same for sources in the other seasons. PrimeHunter (talk) 15:04, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
PrimeHunter, A lot of the sources are also saying 'khatron ke khiladi season 5'. I did a quick google search and and both of he terms are being used equally by the media. Most of the online streaming services refer to it as "khatron ke khiladi season 5/6 etc". The best bet for Pritam Shaw would be a move request or get input at Noticeboard for India-related topics. Faulty links[edit]

The list of shark attacks in Australia page goes to a page with a list of states.

You expect to click in to the state and have a list of attacks for that state, but it just goes to a general info page about that state.

Nothing about a list of shark attacks for each state.

It needs fixing.

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:8004:CC4:4A9F:A9D2:6121:160A:94D4 (talk) 12:00, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You're asking about List of fatal shark attacks in Australia. It has a list of contents at the top. If you click on "Queensland", for example, then you're taken to the section about attacks in Queensland. This is indeed titled "Queensland" with what seems to me an unnecessary link to the article about Queensland; but I don't expect to see a list of fatal shark attacks by clicking that link, because the (chronological) list of fatal shark attacks is already on the screen in front of me, within the article I'm looking at. (Am I misunderstanding something?) -- Hoary (talk) 12:13, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hoary, I guess you are right. OP just though that there are state-specific article which he would be lead to if he clicked on the links. The headings shouldn't be having links, though. Field Marshal Aryan (talk) 12:33, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed them. -- Hoary (talk) 12:51, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Creating a page without a redlink[edit]

Hello! I'm having trouble with creating a page and I need help. I want to create and set up a page for Beyoncé's new upcoming film, "Black Is King" - I was hoping to do this by creating a redlink on her page and using that. However, someone seems to have redirected the link, so when you search for "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Is_King" it redirects you to "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lion_King:_The_Gift#Black_Is_King" instead. I don't know how I am meant to create this page without using a redlink to set it up, and I don't know how to change the redirect link to a redlink. Please inform me if you can help and thank you to anyone who knows how I can fix this! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Timeheist (talkcontribs) 14:37, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Timeheist I would advise you to use Articles for Creation to create and submit a draft; if accepted, the reviewer will handle moving it to the main encyclopedia. This is a good idea especially if you have not created many articles, as it is more difficult than many people realize. 331dot (talk) 14:42, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Help with a Newspapers.com subscription[edit]

I'm not sure how actively monitored the talk page is for newspapers.com questions, so I wanted to ask if anybody may be able to answer my question over at Wikipedia talk:Newspapers.com#Help - newspapers.com is telling me I need a "Publisher Extra Subscription" to view any pages? Thank you. SportsGuy789 (talk) 17:16, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, SportsGuy789. I'm afraid that's really not the right place to ask: the talk page is for the purpose of discussing improvements to that article, nothing else. I suggest you try at the resource exchange. --ColinFine (talk) 18:39, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! I'll leave a note at their talk page. SportsGuy789 (talk) 02:13, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu article[edit]

You wrote that his father late kinjarapu Yerrannaidu was M.L.A of Tekkali instead of Harischandrapuram M. L. A — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anjaneyulu Bollineni (talkcontribs) 17:41, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Anjaneyulu Bollineni:, please bring your concerns, including reliable sources that support your proposed changes, to the talk page of the article in question. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 18:49, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Fabricated information about world leaders[edit]

I continue to want to donate when I see or receive your solicitations and notices but until you correct or allow to be corrected the erroneous information you provide on notorious political figures, I will not. You can start by reviewing and updated Mao Tse Tung. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.114.250.244 (talk) 18:07, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Anonymous editor, please bring your concerns, including reliable sources that support your proposed changes, to the talk page of the article in question. We aren't psychic and can't guess at what changes you want. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 18:50, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your donations. Nobody who edits Wikipedia has any knowledge of who has donated or how much: that is handled by the Mediawiki Foundation, which is a separate. There is no editorial board for Wikipedia: everything is done, and decided, by editors like you and me. If you think that there is something that could be improved in an article, you are welcome to bring it up for discussion on the article's talk page. --ColinFine (talk) 19:05, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
For example, if there is something specific that is wrong in the Mao Zedong article, go to Talk:Mao Zedong. If you don't see your issue already being discussed, start a new section. In the Summary/headline box, write a concise headline that describes your message. Then, in the edit box below, describe what you feel is wrong and provide a reliable source that can be used to cite and verify the information. Be as specific as possible. A general "this article is totally wrong" is not likely to result in any changes. Leave out anything about donations or how bad we volunteers are – none of that will help get the job done. Thanks. —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 07:12, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

someone named Rosguill keeps deleting my wikipedia page[edit]

I'm the actor Saverio Guerra and Someone named Rosguill keeps deleting my page, saying it's not confirmable. A simple google search can show you that it is. I've hade a page as an actor since 2002 and all of a sudden he's deleting my info. I'm on Curb your enthusiasm as Mocha Joe and was on Becker with Ted Danson. that show has a page and all my credits and who I am are verifiable.this is being done for some no valid reason and that's why I'm writing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Saverio Guerra (talkcontribs) 19:43, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Saverio Guerra: Rosguill is a trusted wikipedian who has been granted the right to review newly created articles to filter out the ones that meet Wikipedia guidelines from the ones that don't. If he deleted your page there must be some notability issue. I would advise that you contact him directly on his talk page regarding the matter. You should also consider disclosing that you have a conflict of interest regarding your article. Do reach out to me or the help desk for any more assistance. Regards, Field Marshal Aryan (talk) 19:56, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Saverio Guerra. I'm afraid that, like many people, you have a misunderstanding of the purpose of Wikipedia. Not one pesron in the world "has a page" on Wikipedia: Wikipedia has articles on many notable people (and other subjects). Those articles do not belong to their subjects, their subjects have no control over their contents, and they should be based almost 100% on what people who have no connection with the subject have chosen to publish about them. If an article happens to help the person who is its subject in some way, that is a fortunate accident, but Wikipedia articles are absolutely not for the benefit of their subject. The word "notable" that I used above has a special meaning in Wikipedia - see where I linked it (and Field Marshal Aryan also did). If you do not meet Wikipedia's criteria for notability, no article about you will be accepted, whoever writes it. If suitable independent sources exist to establish that you are notable, then it is possible for an article about you to be written. You are strongly discouraged from writing it yourself, because it is likely to be difficult for you to write in a sufficiently neutral way: basically, you will have to forget everything you know about yourself, and write an article based entirely on the published material about you by people who have no connection with you. --ColinFine (talk) 21:51, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Saverio Guerra: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Saverio Guerra is where discussion regarding the article's deletion (or not) are being held. Keep in mind that it's highly unlikely that editors involved, especially those with long and respected tenure here, have something personal against you. Casting aspersions like that will not help you. As far as the article's history, Wikipedia has a lot of articles that do not meet its standards. As time goes by, editors find them and either bring them up to code or propose their deletion if that cannot be done, as in the case of lack of notability – if the sources don't exist, there's nothing that can be done other than wait for people to write about the subject. The issue up for discussion is whether you are notable, as Wikipedia uses the term. That means we need (typically) three reliable sources that discuss you and your career in significant detail (not just passing mentions), independent of prompting by you or your representatives (i.e., interviews, PR, etc. are out). If you (or any editor) can provide that, the article can be retained (and hopefully expanded, summarizing what those good sources have said). I hope this helps. —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 07:38, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

May I propose a new move?[edit]

My proposed move of pantsdrunk to kalsarikännit was just closed as "do not move". May I now propose a new move to kalsarikänni (note the singular instead of plural form, by the absence of the ending "t") instead, as suggested by User:Urjanhai in the original discussion? JIP | Talk 23:04, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@JIP: the closing comment says "Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page." You could ask the closer to consider reopening the discussion as there were only two opposes on principle and one based on grammar, which you can resolve. New categories[edit]

Hi, I'm not sure if this is where to ask, but I'm sure I'll be pointed in the right direction if not. I wanted to make a new category "1963 in snooker". I made a draft but then got a message that "You do not have permission to move a page to a category page." If possible, could somebody create categories for 1961 in snooker, 1962 in snooker and 1963 in snooker? They should be like Category:1964 in snooker. If it's not appropriate to do this due to the current lack of articles for these, let me know and I can re-request at some later point. Thanks. BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 23:58, 11 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I've moved your draft. Categories, like files, aren't usually created in draft first - just create them in place. If you really think you need to save an intermediate version before making it live, it's ok to copy-paste from a draft or sandbox page if you're the only editor there. —Cryptic 01:57, 12 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
