The 6th Los Angeles Meetup event will be the Great American Wiknic of 2012. Please help us get this event going! And read about our event last year!

Update: We are at BBQ location F (same place as last year) on the custom Google map below (in the #Map section below). There will be Wikipedia signs posted too. howcheng {chat} 16:55, 23 June 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]

What, Where, When, and How?[edit]

What: Picnic!
Where: Pan-Pacific Park [ info ] [ map ]
When: Saturday, June 23, 2012 - all day!
See also: Our Facebook event

Pan-Pacific Park is pretty large, so let's plan to find tables/grills at the north end (closer to Beverly Blvd). On weekends, the park gets busy with picnickers and barbecuers, so we need some plucky volunteers to get there as early as possible to hold some tables, preferably with a grill, but if someone wants to bring a (medium or large) grill, then we can afford to be less picky. If nobody can get there early in the morning—say by 9:00 AM (I can't, I'm coming from Ventura County)—then we will need someone to bring a grill because those tables will likely be taken by others (we got lucky last year, but we can't count on that again). We should also have signs or something so that we can recognize each other. :) Also, it would be nice to get a better headcount than just "possible" because people bringing food will need to know how much. Thanks. howcheng {chat} 18:10, 21 May 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I've created a custom Google map. The map contains place markers for all the locations with a BBQ pit and without, and I've named them all. So on the day of the event once we have a spot, I plan to update this page (and the map) to state where we are and hopefully that will make it easier for people to find us. I will also have my phone number here so that you can call me for help. howcheng {chat} 00:09, 11 June 2012 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Please add your name using three tildes (~~~). Also feel free to add to this list as you see fit.

  • LiPollis (talk) 13:14, 11 June 2012 (UTC) - I am partially disabled and experincing a set-back in treatment so I may have limited mobility. I'll do my best to try and get there early (w/my spouse) if I come so even if I have to leave, I can try and nab some tables. I've never eactually been to the park so if organizer wants to contact me on talk page, that would be great.Reply[reply]
