Next Meetup

[edit]
  • It was suggested that the next meetup be in May. A bbq was considered, but as it can be a little cool in May it may be more prudent to have it inside. Mark Elliott said the Centre for Ideas should be OK if required. - Cuddy Wifter
    • Which is why I suggested 'wait until the end of the year' before we had a BBQ. After we've had meetings in the Centre for Ideas all year, being in the Mornington Peninsula would make a nice change. What about country meetings? Like in Geelong or Ballarat or Bendigo? I agree about having the thing inside as May can be a little cool. I wouldn't want to catch a cold from a fellow Wikipedian. --EuropracBHIT 03:24, 22 March 2006 (UTC).[reply]

I will be overseas 7 to 21 May, and in Canberra for the following two weeks. So only the first Tuesday will work for me. Adam 10:32, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I might also be overseas for most of May, though it's tentative at the moment (conference organisers messing around combined with the not knowing exactly when my niece or nephew is going to be born in England). Angela. 02:25, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I hope the child gets born soon. Who has done a study on Wikibabies? --03:48, 25 April 2006 (UTC).

Just a reminder to any Wikipedian "Football Fanatics" that the 2006 World Cup runs from June 9 to July 9 in Germany. In particular the kick off times for the Socceroos matches are:

  • Japan - Monday June 12 at 11pm
  • Brazil - Monday June 19 at 2am
  • Croatia - Friday June 23 at 5am

Please adjust your sleep times accordingly! - Cuddy Wifter 07:13, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not exactly a football fanatic (at least not of the round ball) but for years the World Cup seemed so far away and unattainable. Maybe we could catch some of the screen in Federation Square? If our families approve of us being out there late at night, or in the early morning in the case of the 23rd June one. Thank you for reminding us Cuddy!
Maybe we can focus on improving Socceroos articles. --Bronwyn Gannan 07:42, 25 April 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Meetup: when?

[edit]

I assume most people still like Tuesdays. But I don't know! --Bronwyn Gannan 09:26, 23 April 2006 (UTC).[reply]

I guess that the meetup won't happen without some initiative. I see that nobody has voted against 27 June and this is 3 months and a couple of days after the last meeting. Furthermore, while it would be cool to go somewhere else, I didn't see a specific suggestion. So I asked User:Mark Elliott to check whether the CfI is free for us on 27 June. -- Jitse Niesen (talk) 09:54, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I'll check the CFI's availbility tomorrow and report back. Mark Elliott 23:06, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The venue should be fine - technically it can't be booked as it is a commons area, but no one else has flagged that they want to use it - uni is on break so I don't think we'll have any competition at all. Mark Elliott 01:41, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well done Jitse and Mark. OK, so it's the 27 June at 7.00pm at the CFI lounge, Victoria College of the Arts, 234 St. Kilda Road (grid E 11 on this map). People waiting for a definite date can now add their names to the list. If you have any topics you want to discuss add them to the Ongoing Discussion below.
