Purpose

[edit]

This one day symposium will bring these academics together, along with Australian Wikipedia editors, to discuss best practice for using Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects as a platform for education within the Australian higher education system.

The symposium is essential for educators who would like to improve their understanding of how Wikipedia pages are developed and maintained, and to discuss their concerns about potential risks and how to avoid or minimise them. Teachers will learn about how Wikipedia is being used in education in Australian universities and join in conversation about the development of good practice models and procedures, as well as participate in interactive break-out sessions throughout the day.

Where to meet

[edit]

The event will be held at the Camperdown Campus of The University of Sydney.

Teacher's College building code A22. Level 3. Room 329 - Writing Hub Common Room.
