Resolved

Concerns are mainly over shoddy referencing and absence of data that should probably be there. see Wikipedia:Featured list removal candidates/List of Final Fantasy media. Circeus 02:56, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

Come on people, we need to get this sorted out. Is anyone up for writing a proper lead? I can get the ISBN numbers sorted out (hopefully). --Teggles 20:05, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Sure thing, I'll do the lead stuff. I got good experience from List of Kingdom Hearts media. :) Axem Titanium 20:10, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Result: List has been demoted. — Blue 02:14, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

Farewell for now

Resolved

I think it's time for me to bow out of the WikiProject for a month or two; real-life stuff is forcing me to cut back on Wikipedia time, and I don't want to keep making false promises about working on articles and preparing others for FAC. — Deckiller 21:20, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

Take care. Axem Titanium 17:03, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

I have school soon, so I will still be working after school. Greg Jones II 17:05, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Also, Bluerfn has left. Greg Jones II 17:06, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Deckiller, I will take over on the FA pushes from here on out. Greg Jones II 17:46, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

New plan

Resolved

I have a new plan. My new plan is to get the remaining articles to FA status as well as updating all the articles that need help. I am going to be the main pusher of FAs from now on until Deckiller gets back. What do you say? Any comments or objections? Greg Jones II 18:34, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Without Deck around, what will we do now? Greg Jones II 18:54, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

What were we doing in the first place? I assume Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy XI were the ones that needed pushing. --Teggles 05:00, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
The FAC for FFXI failed. We need to get FFV, FFII, FFIII and FFI all up to FA status. Greg Jones II 12:09, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
I would assume getting FFIII to FA status is quite a pain as it's only released in Japan. Looking forward to how you manage to pull that one off. --Mika1h 17:48, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Can't the article contain both original FFIII and FFIII DS?KrytenKoro 18:09, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Could be. Greg Jones II 18:13, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Even if FFIII DS isn't merged, perhaps information about it could still pertain to the original FFIII and be used to improve the FFIII article to FA status. Take FFIV DS for instance: Tokita stated in a recent interview that 75% of the plot had been cut in the original game because of space issues and that these lost plot points will finally be implemented in the DS remake; this information primarily concerns FFIV DS, but the 75% stuff could still be mentioned in the original FFIV article's Development section. Perhaps this logic could apply to FFIII too. Kariteh 21:58, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Correct. Greg Jones II 22:58, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

Redesign of the project page

Resolved

Recently, Wikiproject Simpsons and now Wikipedia:WikiProject Harry Potter have been redesigned to be more accessible and navigation friendly. I think it would be a great improvement to go over to that kind of format. What say we do? Judgesurreal777 17:02, 10 September 2007 (UTC)

We already have a portal, which is underused quite severely. I am for doing it if anyone likes to assist. — Blue 17:24, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
I would help out if I have the time, Blue. Greg Jones II 17:38, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
It's great to see you're still holding up. I've actually had enough with the attitude in this Wiki, but if the Wikiproject remains inactive, we'll have all the articles we worked on rotting, so I'll stay on once in a while, just for pruning purposes. — Blue 17:41, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

The new face

All right, I've created initial designs of the new face of the project page in my sandbox. If anyone wants to contribute do so there. — Blue 18:40, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

All right then, everyone. Good luck. Greg Jones II 19:34, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Cut the good lucks. Do something more physical there. It's taking shape, but I got some quirks to fix. I'll go around it later. — Blue 19:37, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
Thank you. Greg Jones II 19:56, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Comments before it goes online

Well, with PresN's contribution, the new face is looking much better than before. So, Wikiproject, I want to see some discussion going:what are your comments? Should we put that in front now? — Blue 06:57, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Looks much better, more organized, it may give use a fresh burst of energy :) Judgesurreal777 17:16, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Oh right, I have comments:
  • If we could have our Wikiproject's Stats table it would be very great. Do we do this ourselves or let an editorial do it?
  • Maybe there's too many words in our goals,
  • One section - Template needs to be reconstructed (or possibly removed).
I'll push the move to one hour from now till I fix these things. — Blue 04:53, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Seems that I have much comment to start with the move, correct? I will change the front page in an hour from now; if there's no comment by then the move will occur. Let's see to it. — Blue 04:53, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Hmmmm, the format makes it awfully hard to edit individual sections... Axem Titanium 21:38, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
Initially, I thought it would hamper any vandal attempts, but seeing that it would put difficulty to us as well, it is fixed. — Blue 02:24, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
Don't seem to be working, sorry. Just puts a lot of = signs. Axem Titanium 02:31, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
Refresh your page, and find a way to fix the wordings which have now been decentered from their initial positions. I'm off to work. — Blue 02:36, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
Looks good. Axem Titanium 04:12, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
Is that right? The decentered wording doesn't seem to be damaging to visual IMO. A job well done! — Blue 05:33, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Help merging Characters of Kingdom Hearts

Resolved

Hi, some editors and I have been trying to clean up the Characters of Kingdom Hearts article to get it up to GA. The separate character articles, Sora (Kingdom Hearts), Riku (Kingdom Hearts), Kairi (Kingdom Hearts), Xehanort, Organization XIII and DiZ, are currently in very poor shape that contain only plot info and little to no references. The general consensus has leaned towards merging them all into the main character article. However, we're kind of at a lose as to get it going; what info to include, what info to condense, and all that stuff. Basically, since the various Final Fantasy character articles have gone through a similar transition, we were hoping that an editor or editors that helped or are familiar with those mergers could help us out. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. (Guyinblack25 talk 22:32, 10 September 2007 (UTC))

I will help out while I can. Anyone else? Greg Jones II 01:41, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

Alert!! Conspiracy!!!

Resolved

Let me explain. An article was posted on IGN a few days ago on the fact that the DS remake of Final Fantasy IV would have voiceover acting. At the bottom of the page the author references a DS remake of FV and FVI, and that they will most likely have voiceover too. I emailed the author, and have gotten no response, and I have heard no other information on this anywhere else. Is this true? Do they know something we don't that slipped? Thoughts? Judgesurreal777 21:11, 3 October 2007 (UTC)

Just a side note, Judgesurreal777, FV and FVI should be FFV and FFVI. Greg Jones II 22:06, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
True. I think we should look around, see if this is a fact, and if so, have a party! Judgesurreal777 22:26, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
If you're talking about this article, I believe the author is suggesting that because FFIVDS is getting a voice cast, remakes of FFV and FFVI are likely to occur. I'm not sure if his logic follows but I'm pretty sure he's not confirming that remakes exist. Axem Titanium 22:28, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
But he does use the phrase "upcoming remakes"...that sounds like a statement of fact, which begs the question of is this a misstatement, a hope, or a leaked fact? Judgesurreal777 02:08, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
The author is merely making an assumption, thus the phrase "can only assume". If you are thinking of writing this up in the related articles, believe me when I say how blasphemous it is. Cease and desist this teetering towards a gaming discussion. — Blue 07:19, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
Of course I'm not, I'm just saying, keep your ears open, maybe sometime soon we'll hear something official!Judgesurreal777 15:56, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

VG Sources Guideline Proposal

Resolved

At Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Sources, there is a proposed guideline on sources in articles in the scope of WP:VG. Your edits and comments are appreciated. User:Krator (t c) 15:19, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

Template

Resolved

Looking at the DQ template, the FF template is really to sparse IMO. While they do provide links to a page with more links, I find it to be cumbersome to have to go to a page with all the links and then find it, where as the DW template presents most of the games within the series. While doing that would possibly make the FF template too chunky (especially given how much larger the FF series is than the DQ series), I think that some more information should be included. My (revised) proposal:

Butterfly0fdoom 02:23, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

I think that because FF is so much bigger than DQ, a single nav template would not be able to cover such details without becoming too large. The FF series template was once much larger but it was discussed and severely reduced here. The problem I see is deciding which games/spinoffs/subseries "deserve" to be on the main series template and that problem is most easily solved by allowing readers to find what they want on the List of FF titles page. FFT failed FA

Resolved

Final Fantasy Tactics failed to be promoted. Well, it may be my mistake for the most part. I was actually under the impression that the WikiProject was still active, albeit slowly, and that the FA for FFT would have support. Plus, I slacked: I nominated and even read the opposition, but forgot about in totality, though I have my own personal reasons. Five days went by with one oppose and no comments from the WikiProject, and the article was then not promoted, maybe because nothing was done, I dunno, the bot just archived it... Oh well. Nothing can be done except wait until my personal issues are resolved before the next attempt. — Blue 20:39, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

No wonder it did. I felt dissapointed by that failure. Failure is not an option. Greg Jones II 09:14, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

Plan of Action

Ok, I have a plan of action, which was inspired by Jones and his leadership to get more energized at our wikiproject. For the next month, so by October 18th, we want to accomplish this;

Help fix

Get to Good Article Status

Get to Featured Article Status

Our spirit, though dimmed by strife and by returning to school, will shine again when we dig in and accomplish great things on our wikiproject! Judgesurreal777 17:28, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

I would also like to add additional accomplishments as well along with Judgesurreal777.

Get to Featured Article Status

Think we can do that, everyone? As leader of this Wikiproject, there will be no turning back. Any other comments? Greg Jones II 20:11, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
A concrete plan. Well thought of. Post it in the Project's front page so we'll know what we need to do. — Blue 04:32, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
I thought this was a collaborative effort ? aka no leaders? who made you leader? — Blue 03:46, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
When Deckiller left, I was shocked.Deckiller was the main pusher until he left and since then, I took over for him. After all, this is a collaborative effort. Greg Jones II 19:03, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
I think its not an official position, probably more accurately the "currently most active" one, doing a lot of the heavy lifting for the FA pushes and GA noms that Deck did. Judgesurreal777 21:01, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
I apologize, I am but a follower awaiting proof of Sjones leadership. My confidence in Tyler is larger than in him, but if the FA pushes and GA noms are successful under Sjones like it did under Tyler, only then would I have no doubt. — Blue 07:13, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
I just want to let you know that have made self-nominations to KH, CoM, KHII and FFIX earlier on in the past couple of months. (See here, here, here and here). Greg Jones II 01:06, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

(indent) Self nominating is one thing, being around to monitor and supervise the Wikiproject is another. — Blue 01:44, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Compilation of Final Fantasy VII

I want to make the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII a Featured topic. Can you give me some help? Any help on this issue will be very much appreciated. Greg Jones II 01:49, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Are you planning to include Characters, Music of Final Fantasy VII and Gaia? --Teggles 06:10, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I am planning to do that as well as all of the Compilation articles. Greg Jones II 10:03, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
I'm going to be frank: you're in for a hell of a job. Count on a FARC of Final Fantasy VII, count on bitter arguments with Characters of Final Fantasy VII, count on not succeeding. That's very pessimistic, but let's be realistic, Final Fantasy IX is probably a better choice. --Teggles 12:41, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
Just getting all the games in Compilation is going to be hard enough. FFVII is teetering on and off FA, as Teggles said. Maybe a title that isn't being actively developed right now? Axem Titanium 20:16, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
How about Final Fantasy IV? Get the music article to featured status, merge the hopeless characters article, and you'd have a featured topic. Judgesurreal777 04:30, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

Aerith Gainsborough

The Aerith Gainsborough article has been cleaned up some and I think with some copy editing, it could pass GA. The "Appearances" section needs to be trimmed of excessive plot info and the "Musical theme" is lacking sources. Perhaps someone familiar with the character and Final Fantasy VII could help clean it up, and then nominate it for GA. (Guyinblack25 talk 05:22, 10 October 2007 (UTC))

creating arguments that "Aeris" is either a mistranslation or aesthetic change. doesn't have a cite. What arguments? Where? hbdragon88 22:56, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
We know they exist. The problem is, they're central to forums and fansites. That's very difficult to source properly. A reliable site discussing it possibly could be found. The text has been removed, though. --Teggles 23:33, 13 October 2007 (UTC)
I wasn't disputing that they existed. I know they probably do (right now I'm reading a GameFAQs topic about the effeminate qualities of male FF characters). I was looking for the almighty reliable source that mentioned it. hbdragon88 06:30, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
I left some notes on Aerith's talk page on some ideas I think need to be taken care of to get the article to GA. I'd do some myself, but I've never played FFVII and unfamiliar with the story. Perhaps an editor more familiar with the character can handle it and nominate it for GA. (Guyinblack25 talk 20:26, 17 October 2007 (UTC))

Final Fantasy nominated for GA

Go ahead, Wikiproject. Final Fantasy is nominated for Good Article. — Blue 03:39, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

Changes in the interface

I've recently made a bold move by placing the Participants listed in the WP:FF Participants link into the WP:FF main page. The WP:FF may have reason to create a separate page for participants, but this doesn't occur to me now, and people can see that there are editors in the WP:FF and it is still active. I hope this is no problem.

The question is now, what should we do with the redundant Participant page? It still list the past participants name list. I think it may be used as a place for the Hall of Fame. Thoughts?— Blue 04:51, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, a nice hall of fame page would lift our spirits :) Judgesurreal777 20:49, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
IDK, I think I'll wait until the Assessment Status Table is ready first. — Blue 21:03, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Does anyone think it can be renominated now? — Blue 21:56, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

It still needs work on the lead, per the FARC. Bah, college apps suck. They're like mosquitoes vampiring my time. Axem Titanium 21:58, 26 October 2007 (UTC)
I will put a maintenance tag for Template:introrewrite now. Greg Jones II 22:19, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

FFIII DS

User:Ryu Ematsu removed references to release dates for Final Fantasy III (Nintendo DS), which are actual news reporting the event of the release. That's destructive behavior IMO, but any thoughts? — Blue 14:28, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

I can't believe it. As what an administrator pointed out to Bluerfn on his talk page, stripping articles of reliable references is considered destructive behavior and that has attracted serious penalties by the Arbitration Committee. Any other thoughts, comments or objections? Greg Jones II 15:38, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
That's precisely the point. I learned from my mistakes. If this user does it again, please don't hesitate to report him as a vandal and such. — Blue 03:25, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

is this goodbye?

I think my time in Wikipedia will come to an end soon. An editor who was not satisfied with the things I do have resorted to reporting me to the higher-ups. Might as well. I have gotten a bit sick with adhering to regulations. I pray it may not happen, but alas, if it was fated. It was great working with you, Wikiproject FF. I miss the good old days FAing articles with you and the rest. — Blue 20:18, 30 October 2007 (UTC) Forget that, I don't know why I bothered. — Blue 21:32, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

I hate seeing wikijerks drive good editors away :( Anomie 00:39, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
I agree, Anomie. Bluerfn, I will still be here and I am sorry about all of this saying goodbye. Greg Jones II 01:06, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
This is not goodbye for me at WPFF. Anyone agree with me? Greg Jones II 01:30, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

Do you guys think I am leaving? I scratched the remark because I know I am better than those wikilawjerks, and is staying.
