Wikipedia wants YOUR help to improve our coverage of Black Lives Matter and related topics! For the entire month of June 2020, we are holding the Black Lives Matter article improvement drive, a collaborative effort to improve our articles on topics relating to racism, racialized violence, and the African diaspora more widely. Whether you're new to Wikipedia or an experienced editor, your help is greatly appreciated. The recent killing of George Floyd and others have exposed continuing racial divisions in the United States. This has manifested in widespread protests and movements like Blackout Tuesday which are important topics for Wikipedia to cover. One of the best ways to fight ignorance and bias is knowledge, and improving Wikipedia content on African-Americans and the African diaspora more generally helps to educate the world and counter Wikipedia's systemic bias.

There are tons of ways you can help out! The page below is divided into sections to help you identify places you would like to work. #Where to help provides lists of articles curated by editors and machines which could use improvement. If this is your first time editing Wikipedia, that section is a good place to start. #New or upgraded articles lists articles which are further along in their development and could use attention from copy editors, proofreaders, and reviewers. If you don't have much time to write, the articles listed there would benefit from minor edits. #New media lists recently uploaded images and other media that can be used in articles. If you have photos you can upload them under a free license to share with others. #Participants lists editors who have signed up to help with this effort. If you need advice or help, contact one of them on their talk page or post on the project talk page.

Rooney Rule -- "affirmative action" for sports executives. Start class.
Tabor-Loris Tribune -- currently stub/start. In 1953 this newspaper in KKK country won a Pulitzer for public service, for publishing over 100 stories on the KKK, which drove an FBI investigation resulting in 254 KKK convictions. Need more than a stub here.

Integrating public domain material

Google Books has many pre-1925 issues of The Crisis (NAACP publication) available scanned online.[5] All pre-1925 issues are in the public domain. Some of these include biographical profiles that can be adapted for inclusion in Wikipedia. They also often have photographs of prominent black people, which can be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. Note that some portions of 1925-or-later issues may no longer be in copyright either, but this analysis is a little more nuanced. See here.

Need help doing research on a topic or getting access to resources? There are a number of Wikipedians who are willing and able to help provide access to sources for use on the encyclopedia.
