==What is considered as a racial slur==
I am trying to understand the wiki's NPOV that covers this problem. I understand you could be right person to ask more about this problem.

E.g. Having a topic with content that could be probably hurting people who belong to a certain community as mentioned at [[nigger]]. Can you kindly explain me if this article that is talking about certain race would not be probably hurting the sentiments of the people belonging to that community?

What exactly does this NPOV actually stand for. I hardly understand it.[[User:BalanceRestored|BalanceRestored]] 13:04, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Korak according to Wold Newton

Korak, born as John Drummond (I), is the son of Roger Drummond and brother of Hugh "Bulldog" Drummond. For some reason Roger Drummond could not keep John, and John Clayton III adopted John Drummond (I). So while Korak is a son of Tarzan, he is not the biological son of Tarzan. If I remember right the reason the Wold Newton researchers had a problem with Korak being the son of Tarzan was that Tarzan would have been 12 when Korak was born or something like that. Just FYI.
—Lady Aleena talk/contribs 01:43, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Believe me, the Wold Newton setting is vast and convoluted. However, Korak was not mentioned by the originator of the setting, and that is why he was not mentioned in the main article. He is on the list however, so he is not forgotten. You should take a look at just how many characters from so many sources have all been interconnected by this setting and its imaginative collaborators. - LA @ 08:00, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: FP delist closing procedure

Hi Dante!
Yeah, a delist nom is like the reverse to a nomination nom. For a picture to be dilisted it needs a 2/3 majority. So if the results were 10 delist 5 keep it would be a delist, but if it were 10 delist 6 keep it is retained. --Fir0002 07:53, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! You supported the Hummingbird Hawk-moth FPC (like everyone else who commented), but HighInBC uploaded an edit that absolutely no-one commented on. I can't promote the image without knowing which version to promote, so now I have to ask everyone which version they prefer. Would you mind specifying which image you are supporting? Thanks. Fremont/Hayward

Hey, I'm currently living in Livermore. Are there any local Wikipedia meetups? We have one in Goettingen every other month and the Bay Area is a lot bigger... --Dschwen 16:03, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've been here for two months now, but I'm leaving on e 25th. This might be a bit to short to start up a whole new meet-up. Well, maybe it's worth a try.--Dschwen 16:43, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Request of Help: moderation

The article about Boscovich is NPOV due to nationalistic ideas. I've tried to mark it as NPOV several times, but the user User: Ante Perkovic always deleted it. My idea is that the article should be marked NPOV, than rewritten in a neutral way, presenting all the points of view. Thank you.

Hi Dante!
That's extremely generous of you! I'll bear that in mind on any future purchases. Thanks! --Fir0002 12:42, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hangman

Hi Dante, I started a new round at Wikipedia:WikiHangman_Tournament/Tournament_1/Match_6/Round_2/B.

Why'd you delete my entry

I just submitted an entry for the music genre Swordmetal. You deleted it less than 10 minutes after I submitted it claiming it was nonsense. That is an obviously ignorant claim, since the genre clearly exists whether you listen to it or not.

I do not appreciate you deleting my submissions without researching the topic at hand. You don't know everything and that quick delete was apparently a "if Dante doesn't know about it, it doesn't belong on Wiki" act.

People like you make the Internet frustrating. I'm going to resubmit the entry and I suggest you mind your own business, or, if you're just that determined to ensure Wiki is filled with legit content, LOOK UP THE GENRE BEFORE YOU DELETE IT!

Re: 85mm lens photo

Hi Dante!
Yeah no worries, I was kinda surprised it was promoted, and although I disagree with the rationale behind "ad shot" opposes, I agree that there was no way that the consensus was in favour of a promote. Thanks, --Fir0002 00:15, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Klopman Diamond

Hi, you added that Myron Cohen was the originator of the Klopman Diamond gag, but on that entry page, it says the joke is traditional and has apparently been around for a long time. If so, it wouldn't have an originator of relatively recent vintage, and furthermore, you haven't sourced your Myron Cohen claim. I'm not saying you're wrong to put this in there, but it needs sourcing - and both pages need to be consistent and even NPOV. If you have the source, then the joke page needs to say it's not traditional, or that it became traditional after being written by Cohen. Bruxism 02:51, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I like your suggestion (on my talk page). If it's really in the oral tradition, finding an "originator" will be hard to do. Bruxism 23:48, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hermes

Hi, I actually split the paragraph in two in this edit and added information, correcting a bit (I had some time and made a trip to the library to dig up the primary sources - it is the only way you can ever be sure of anything when dealing with the classics, and even then you are at a handicap if you do not have the original language). Haiduc 01:11, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I got it off the Wikipedia Herma article, but I have not yet found anything to back that up, nor has the original poster. If you find anything supporting it please let me know. Haiduc 23:32, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for sprucing up that page. I tried, via a quick Google search, to find a reference to what was happening in that older photo so I could provide a meaningful caption, but I failed. :) It appears to be from the day they moved the meteorite to the museum. Thanks for fixing it. Happy editing! Katr67 02:42, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Dante, thanks for the message. And yes indeed, they both are the same bird (I only saw one) :) Also, your image of the Palawan Peacock Pheasant is awesome!! I'm jealous ... LOL. Couple times there, those pheasant keep hiding from me. I put it on taxobox and wikicommons Bronx Zoo, if you don't mind. Any chance, you took picture of Green Junglefowl? I only have female (never saw the male, so far ..). --Stavenn 01:01, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know much about photography, but your pic is sharp enough to me. Considering that the bird is very hyper, hides a lot and the place is pretty dark. You capture the bird' whole body and its metallic blue feathers, nice pose too :) ... If you have images of Mariana Fruit-dove, St. Vincent Parrot, Pheasant Pigeon and Wattled Curassow of Bronx Zoo, it would be a great additions on Wiki. Thanks :P --Stavenn 02:20, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I noticed :) Thanks a lot ... hehe. Your pics are great !! I never got decent picture of that birds in the zoo (that's why I requested). Palawan Peacock Pheasant, Mariana and Pheasant Pigeon loves to hide in the dark, St. Vincent hides in top corner and Wattled Curassow way down low. You did great capturing clear pics of those birds. Your pigeon is not lousy at all, are you kidding me. Mine is all dark, can't see the birds .. whenever I cleared the image, the Pheasant Pigeon became a new species: Black Pigeon instead .. LOL. Someday, I will take good pics of those birds like yours. Thanks again and have a great weekend ! --Stavenn 01:01, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I've corrected the misinfo I put in wiktionary. Thanks. Xiner (talk, email) 21:12, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh ok. It worked out well though b/c I checked out that archived discussion and found the meaning of that cryptic Chinese character. It means baiji, not dolphin as I'd inserted into wiktionary. Xiner (talk, email) 00:07, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Happy New Year (and a request)

Hello again. I'd like to delete Two of Hearts and was wondering if you could help. Before I tried to straighten out the disambig situation there today, it was a disambig page that links to a) the Playing card and b) the Two of Hearts (song). Confusingly, Two of hearts redirecte to Playing card, despite the fact that placing a disambig in Playing card would look a bit odd. If you could delete Two of Hearts, then Two of Hearts (song) could be moved there. I've already placed the disambig link to Playing card in Two of Hearts (song). Thanks.

Oh, and happy new year. Xiner (talk, email) 01:17, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hola!

A request to clarify deletion was posted on Deletion review. I endorse overtuning the deletion and rewrite because I remember reading the page that was originally deleted was heavily biased. It said to notify the latest user responsible, so here you go. NoInsurance (chat?) 13:22, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thats not quite right

Actually, i was placing the {{db-copyright}} on that page because looking at Mets studio and the article, the information was created almost word-for-word or as an advertisment. I did not create this page, if you look at the history. If you are referring to the talk page, that was an accident as i thought the template had to be placed there for the article to be deleted. Sorry. This comes from placing so many other templates on talk pages e.g. {{Move|Blah}} Simply south 19:41, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Crookedvinelabel.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Crookedvinelabel.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 03:51, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Dante Alighieri. An automated process has found and will an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that is in your userspace. The image (Image:Martí - Artesa.jpg) was found at the following location: User:Dante Alighieri/images. This image or media will be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. This does not necessarily mean that the image is being deleted, or that the image is being removed from other pages. It is only being removed from the page mentioned above. All mainspace instances of this image will not be affected Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 20:56, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:EngrishSweatshirt.jpg, by Strangerer, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:EngrishSweatshirt.jpg is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:EngrishSweatshirt.jpg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:EngrishSweatshirt.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 11:43, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Martí_-_Artesa.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Martí_-_Artesa.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 11:14, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
