[edit] Geocaching

Geocaching is an outdoor treasure-hunting game in which the participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers (called "Geocaches" or "caches") anywhere in the world. A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook and "treasure", usually toys or trinkets of little value.

Geocaching.com is used by cache owners to list caches including descriptions, hints and puzzles, and for seekers to post about their experience searching for a cache and post photos and stories. There is also a community discussion forum. As of August 2011, Geocaching.com lists over 1,500,000 active geocaches.[3]

[edit] Waymarking

Waymarking is another project by Groundspeak for sharing and visiting interesting locations. The idea revolves around cataloging interesting locations around the world.[4]

[edit] Wherigo

Wherigo is intended to be a mix between Geocaching and an Adventure game. It is a toolset for creating and playing multimedia, location-based experiences in the real world, rather than on a computer, or gaming console.[4]
