Table tennis classificationDisability table tennis classification – This only covers classification for disability table tennis, and not table tennis in general, which is an Olympic sport, and has many other classifications not covered in this article. 76.65.128.252 (talk) 11:07, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the move request was: not moved. No prejudice against a new RM with "Para table tennis classification" as the proposed title. Jenks24 (talk) 04:45, 29 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Disability table tennis classificationTable tennis classification – Per common name of the sport. It is not referred to as table tennis in Paralympic literature and other literature. It is merely referred to as table tennis. No confusion on the able bodied side because no classification system there.LauraHale (talk) 01:57, 21 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose this has nothing to do with classification of table tennis in general, and only deals with the classification of table tennis in disabled sport contexts. There is nothing in this article that covers general classifications of table tennis, such as by age, or gender, or skill level. -- 65.92.181.190 (talk) 06:23, 22 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
      • Classification is used in table tennis for the able bodied? No. The move rationale was it would cause confusion. There is no confusion because classification is not used elsewhere and classification is governed by the table tennis governing body. Beyond that, table tennis for people with disabilities is not a separate and distinct sport from the able bodied one. Disability table tennis usage is not common.--LauraHale (talk) 09:38, 22 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Classification only exists in Para table tennis tournaments. "Para table tennis classification" might be a better name according to the ITTF Handbook index 4.07: "World Para Table Tennis Championships". --MediocreVisitor (talk) 08:39, 22 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Other suggestions. Is it possible that the article could be merged into para table tennis#Classification, or become a subpage of the para table tennis ? --MediocreVisitor (talk) 09:01, 22 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
    • I'd be okay with para-table tennis as this follows the naming convention for other articles and the usage is more common. --LauraHale (talk) 09:40, 22 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose move but support merge: Proposed move is misleading, as it would imply that all players are covered. But merge into para table tennis#Classification would be fine. --Stfg (talk) 10:02, 22 October 2012 (UTC).[reply]
  • Support – Per WP:COMMONNAME. Hawkeye7 (talk) 10:42, 22 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support per WP:COMMONNAME but also weak support "para-table tennis". Bidgee (talk) 10:58, 22 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per Wikipedia:Article titles#guidelines about precision in article titles and MediocreVisitor; agree with that user's suggestion of "para-table tennis". Graham87 15:05, 22 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Only refers to disabled table tennis, so needs to be specific to avoid confusion. -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:27, 22 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose—WP is written for more than experts. Findability and transparency is an important attribute for article titles. Tony (talk) 12:49, 24 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
