The result of the move request was: procedural close. The moratorium on moves I applied to George Floyd protests is extended to subarticles. We are not going to have this same discussion from one article to the next. The consensus for "protests" versus "+riots" from the parent article is not a discussion that needs to happen in each and every one of the local articles, regardless of what the original title is set up as. Irrelevant, as cities can hold vigils, have protests, riots, or any combination of it. City articles must be able to be named based on their individual reactions to the killing. This is a norm on Wikipedia, as with the 2019-20 coronavirus pandemic city articles; many just included "2020" in their names as 2019 was not relevant. ɱ (talk) 00:10, 1 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support Since Ɱ has challenged this. A crude Google news search for results in the past 24 hours: riots+columbus 1130 results, protests+columbus 6700 results. Just for example, the feature picture in this article for example is not of a riot, but clearly a protest. Why would this article be about only the subset of the protests that are riots when the non-riotous ones are also notable? —DIYeditor (talk) 23:57, 31 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Totally improper as there have been nearly as many riots as protests. National Guard is in the city, emergencies declared, and an indefinite curfew. Over 100 businesses looted. To call it just protests is insensitive and inaccurate. ɱ (talk) 00:00, 1 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong oppose This is an undeniable simplification and undercutting of a violent, daily current event; like rewriting history. I have been writing this article from scratch; the riots have happened every night, with emergency declarations to clear the city. All roads out of downtown have been blocked, and COTA redirected its buses around the downtown. An indefinite curfew has been declared, and the Ohio National Guard are spread throughout downtown. Over 100 businesses vandalized, many completely sacked, not to mention all the public amenities and government buildings. The riots are incredibly significant, downtown has been a war zone. User:Ɱ, please take a look under Protest#Typology, you will find the type Protest#Destructive that should be an eye-opener for you as to what can be included under protests. Look also under Protest#Forms of protest, where you will find "Riot, melee, mob violence" and many other forms that can broaden your view of protests. True, these are WP articles but they do reflect the literature on protests. Knowing what protests can include, your efforts to include riots or unrest do not make sense.   • Strong support I know it was just moved but I'll give my support for the record. The general phenomenon is called the "George Floyd protests" which includes actions peaceful and violent.   • Support. I don't see any difference between these protests, which include violence and riots and whatnot but, in the reliable sources, are generalized under "protest" (yes, the sources for the article--and thank you DIYeditor for doing that legwork), and all the others. There is nothing special about Columbus that makes it different from the Twin Cities where we had that discussion too. The real question, by the way, is why we are creating all these articles on these protests in various locations in direct contradiction of WP:NOTNEWS. Otherstuffexists is not a valid argument. Minneapolis and other rioting cities should reflect that it's far past just protests. I should note the article's photos misrepresent this likely to all the commentators here. View videos, eg on Facebook livestreams, there have been violent riots each night. Most of the photographers here haven't been willing to experience that level of risk, creating a misleading idea of the severity of the situation. ɱ (talk) 00:28, 1 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

“Defamatory”[edit]

Suggest removing the term “defamatory” in reference to “ACAB”. The article for ACAB does not use the term defamatory, and calling the slogan defamatory implies it's false.
