I have also done a null edit as is standard to note the split, since the "history" tab is where one would expect to find attribution. I realize that you have felt personally targeted by my attention to your contributions, but if you run into questions during cleanup, as you did here, related to my words or actions, please feel free to come by my talk page. I'm happy to explain my reasoning. Even though I know you have felt otherwise, I don't harbor a grudge against you. My interest is in moving forward productively with copyright work, which is where I put the bulk of my Wikipedia time.
While I am here, I notice that Equality Mississippi includes words taken directly from your pdf, for which we need official permission to comply with WP:C ("If the material has been previously published, you will need to verify copyright permission through one of our established procedures." via Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials).

This is not a copyright violation if you are the copyright holder, and I don't doubt you are. But even though this is a news release, news and press releases are not automatically excluded from copyright, as many issuers do not permit modification and may not allow commercial reproduction. Since this is an archive, I can imagine it would be difficult for you to place a release on the original. Can you e-mail a release under GFDL and CC-BY-CA (as the transition completes tomorrow) to OTRS? (I'm sorry if this feels nit-picky; it's not. It's standard procedure.) If you decide to do so and would like me to expedite it, just let me know that you have and I'll see if I can intercept it. Otherwise, odds are good User:Stifle will get it soon, since he gets the bulk of that mail. :)
Also while I'm here, I'll update you on the Lazy Magnolia situation. So far, unfortunately, I have not received response to my request for specific license from them, though I wrote on 06/07/2009 20:58:33. If since you have decided not to retire you wish to speak to them again, please let them know that we do need that specific license in order to use the text. Conflict of interest
I understand that you have been through a lot on WP lately and I really don't mean to kick you when you are down, but I don't think this should ignored. I added the COI tag to Equality Mississippi because you are the founder of the organisation and also the creator and main editor. The COI tag alerts readers of potential conflicts of interest, which seems to be the case here. You reverted my change with the edit summary "Per discusson on my talk page, many people know I am the founder of this org and the former executive director; the article is also neutral with no boasting or peacock terms - therefore there's no COI issue". First off, I can't find a discussion here that specifically deals with your position with the Equality Mississippi. Secondly, based on edits such as adding your own picture to the article, I suggest that perhaps you are not as removed from the subject as you could be. Similarly, inserting yourself into a list of notable people from Mississippi suggests that there may be an element of self-promotion. I'm not suggesting that Equality Mississippi is not a neutral article or that you yourself may not be notable, but you may have an unintentional bias and should perhaps be more circumspect in your edits involving yourself. Look in the section just above this one regarding Equality Mississippi. As for the photo of myself, I don't see how that's a COI issue, since I was the founder of the organization and its executive director from day one until the day it closed. Additonally, the image was free and clear to use per my permission. As for adding myself to the notable list of people from Mississippi, again, I don't see a COI issue because, well, I am a notable person from Mississippi. I'm involved even to this day with civil rights issues in the state. When the local news media wants someone to talk to, my phone rings often. When you ask others in the state about who has done what for civil rights in Mississippi, my name is often mentioned. You may not be the best person to judge whether or not you have a conflict of interest. I have no doubt that the photo was acceptable for use, but was it appropriate, both for the article and from a COI standpoint? The article is about the group -- not about Jody Renaldo -- so I suggest that another editor would not have added it. I think WP:COI gives good advice on how to avoid potential conflicts of interest, but you seem to have chosen to ignore that advice. As far as your notability, I am not debating your assertion that you are notable, but WP:SAL clearly states that entries in lists of people "should have Wikipedia articles (or the reasonable expectation of an article in the future)". Ole Miss Rebels football
I realize that you may be busy with everything evidently going nuts at Equality Mississippi, but Ole Miss Rebels football has come due for processing at WP:CP today, and my request for assistance at WikiProject College football has gone unanswered. You seem to have been doing a good job with evaluating issues, and evidently you are interested in the article and knowledgeable at the subject. In addition to the source Frank tagged, there is another listed on the article's talk page. Do you want to take a stab at rewriting this to address these concerns? If not, I'll be happy to take a stab at it, but football is not an area of interest of mine, and I've still got the full plate at today's WP:CP, which means that the cleanup is likely to be hurried and a good bit of material is likely to be lost (not that it can't be rewritten later). Please note that it doesn't matter who added infringement; the template typically used to note that such material has been removed ({{cclean}}) doesn't even have a field to identify that. If you would like to work on it, but don't have time today, I can "consolidate" it to give it a few more days. I spent some time on your user-space version of this article, only to find you already created the mainspace one. The original was mostly fine; I did more cleanup in punctuation and formatting than anything else. Feel free to copy stuff over to the official article; if you don't I may do so later. Two main notes: we generally (most often) don't include titles (such as "Dr.") in the text of articles, and we "always" put punctuation before the <ref> tags. Keyboard
Just a note for anyone looking for a real computer keyboard.. you know those old wonderful kind with the loud click-clack sound and awesome tactile feedback where the keys push back to let you know you've actually pressed the key.. often referred to as Mechanical-switch keyboards but are actually Buckling-spring keyboards.. like the ones the old IBM computers came with. About 11 months ago I bought one called an iOne Scorpius. An attempt at the old mechanical style, it's pretty much the only one you can find if you do a general Google search for a mechanical keyboard. Well, mine lasted 10 months before it started felling me.. having to push the numbers 4 and 9 sometimes ten times before it would register.. didn't matter if I used the number pad to the right or the number keys above the letters. The number 6 stopped working altogether. Also the letter R is having the same issue as the numbers 4 and 9 - have to press it several times before it will register.
So, I started looking for another mechanical keyboard. Then I found out the actual specifics about those old IBM keyboards! I already knew they were the bad boys of "mechanical" keyboards. Then I found out which one was the best.. the IBM Model M. Then I remembered my local Salvation Army-like thrift store was always getting in old computers and accessories. So I bopped on down there today around 4:15pm CDT. And then I came home with an IBM Model M buckling-spring keyboard.. for 5 bucks and I'm typing on it right now and it's awesome. Mine was made in 1989... 20 years old and still click-clacking it's way through life. I love the hard feedback it gives. There's a sticker on the bottom of them that tells you the model and the month, day and year it was made. Mine was made April 21, 1989. Yes 20 years old and types like a brand new one. The only drawback is that it doesn't have that Windows key between the Ctrl and Alt keys.. but that's no loss for the superbness of this classic mechanical keyboard.
So, don't waste $50 and up for those made in China pieces of crap.. recycle.. go to your local whatever thrift store and look for one of the Made In America IBM Model M keyboards. You won't want another keyboard! (or if you're lazy, you can also find the IBM Model M keyboards on eBay going from $20 on up to $120) -ALLST✰R▼echowuz here @ 03:40, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

There are some articles that I've listed—most of them are relists where people weren't notified. There's nothing else I recognize outside of Tocowa, and I would have noted it in the copyright cleanup, as I did that one, in edit summary. I'd like to start a new article about a LGBT artist. The only problem is a lot of the press I have on them is in actual magazines. How does one prove notability if a lot of the person's press (40%?) is in actual gay publications/magazines not online press. What would you suggest I do?

First, determine if the subject is notable per WP:NOTE. That's key. Second, make sure to include as much information about the citation as possible; it is by no means required that sources be online to be deemed reliable. They do have to be reliable sources, though. When you say artist, do you mean art work or musician? First see Wikipedia:Notability (people). And if you mean musician, see Wikipedia:Notability (music). Then, if you feel the person meets the notability guidelines, feel free to write the article with only the notable and reliable sources you have (see WP:SOURCE) but make sure to read WP:CITE on how to properly include those sources. Malleus, Connelly and CoM - conduct issues
I suggest you reconsider your threat to "bring up" Malleus' comment about William M. Connolley somewhere. MF's comment was based on "I should slow down, and possibly only edit when sober" when admitting that his indef block of ChildofMidnight was "just a touch harsh". If anyone's'conduct needs to be "brought up", it's William M. Connolley's, on 2 grounds - grossly excessive blck, and admission that he did it while drunk.
PS when making edits that criticise others, please use informative edit summaries - yours appeared as if it were an innocuous part of a completely different section on MF's Talk page. Your own conduct might come under scrutiny. --Philcha (talk) 05:20, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

In a conflict you have to deal with the aggressor first, not the protestor. In this case the problem was caused by William M. Connolley, and if I were directly involved I'd have told him to apologise humbly all round or face an inquest at ANI. If you deal with protestors, however vehement, before you deal with the aggressor, you get a pattern known as "getting your retaliation in first".
Your "new" comment appeared beside an existing an innocuous section heading, check the diff. All you need to do is copy your new section heading into the summary box, takes under a second. --Philcha (talk) 06:25, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
Apparently, numerous admins weighing in on the CoM block thread at ANI don't have an issue with the block or CoM surely would have been unblocked by now. To be honest, CoM and the editor he was uncivil towards, should both be blocked as they have both been uncivil to each other. However, again, I have no concern of CoM or the other editor or their related blocks or lack of. The personal attack drew my attention. As a courtesy, I politely asked the attacker to refactor or redact the attack. Instead, I was met with smartassness and defensiveness. Please note that Xtian has been posting variations on this garbage for months and has uniformly had his complaints rejected (for example, at Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Archive193#COI_User:Hullaballoo_Wolfowitz). It's the height of chutzpah for Xtian to edit articles directly relating to him and then insist that users whose edits he disapproves of are biased or have COIs. Hi Glad that Twinkle is working for you again. I was offline for a bit so I didn't reply before it apparently resolved itself. Next time you hav problems with it, please have a look into the error console or the javascript console (depends on your browser where you find it) and look for any errors it reports. For something completely different: Are you particularly attached to the shortcut links you have to this page, T:ASE and P:ASE? As you know they are actually cross-namespace redirects, and even if some pseudo-namespaces are somewhat accepted, none of them go to user or user talk space, so those two are pretty unusual, and should actually be deleted. To answer your edit summary, it is very similar to Gigs, but not completely. I edit conflicted with him when I attempted to save mine. I copy/saved my statement then endorsed his. When I attempted to post mine again, I highlighted the sample text and accidentally hit ctrl-c instead of ctrl-v, so I had to start all over again. Regarding images and sound samples: MJ as a featured article went through a heavy amount of scrutiny to include non-free content. For the purpose of encyclopedic analysis of an artist's music, sound samples are quite essential, even by the editors who specialize in WP:NFCC who are involved in reviewing music-related content. Janet Jackson, AC/DC, Alice in Chains, Phil Collins, John Frusciante, R.E.M. are other (among numerous) articles that feature several audio samples. As with all non-free content, it should be made very clear in the text why such content is included. If a reliable source says that a sound byte is integral to understanding Jackson's influence or effect, it should be included. If it does not say so, it should either be removed or the text amended to reflect it. A thorough discussion regarding how much nonfree content to use in a single article is always useful. It only contains 1 simple geometric shape, a star. Everything else is text. Per {{PD-textlogo}}, this logo is not copyrightable because it ..only consists of typefaces, individual words, slogans, or simple geometric shapes.. -ALLST✰R▼echowuz here 22:36, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

It might be useful to have a little statement somewhere on your page saying something along the lines of "I own the following doppelganger account(s): User:ASE..." That could help alleviate any confusion of impersonation such as in this case (or even headoff concerns of sockpuppetry). LadyofShalott 18:17, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
