Beatles album templates

Hello Hoops, we're a little confused as to the intention behind some templates that you created a few a months ago—please could you comment here? TIA, Uniplex (talk) 13:10, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

More categories stuff

Ok, maybe I'm missing something. But it looks like you first removed the category "Nazi leaders assassinated by the Allies" from a whole bunch of articles [1], [2], [3], [4], and then removed its sub-categories [5] [6] and [7] and then nominated the category for speedy deletion based on the fact that ... it was empty! After you had emptied it out.

Why?

The original category seems like a viable and perfectly justifiable category so I'm not sure why are you emptying it (and then trying to speedy delete it). Additionally I think that if you do not think that it was a "right" category then the appropriate venue is CFD. I'm not 100% sure that this works the same way, but this just looks a lot like deleting a whole bunch of content from an article and then submitting it for a PROD based on the fact that there is nothing in there.

At the very least, this should be discussed. Can you please undo your removal of the category from the relevant articles, of the sub-categories from the category, and take off the speedy tag on the category's page, and initiate discussion somewhere? Thanks.Volunteer Marek (talk) 05:08, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

The Category:Assassinated Nazis is the same thing. I moved each article that was in the category nominated for deletion to this other said category. It's a fairly simple move and not one that I anticipated would generate much discussion.Hoops gza (talk) 21:23, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
On a related note, I think that Category:Nazis assassinated by Polish resistance is too fine of a categorization, unless you expect it to grow significantly beyond four articles total. There were not that many Nazis who were assassinated such as to create a need for sub-categorization.Hoops gza (talk) 21:35, 7 September 2011 (UTC)
"Nazi leaders assassinated by the Allies" is obviously a subset of "Assassinated Nazis". Some Nazis were assassinated by Germans, while others were assassinated by the Allies. I don't see why we can't be specific here. Where is the proposed deletion nomination (and I'm not talking about your speedy nomination, made AFTER you've emptied the category out)?
And i disagree with regard to Category:Nazis assassinated by Polish resistance. There were actually quite a large number that were assassinated, and yes, I do expect the category to grow beyond 4, though it may take some time.Volunteer Marek (talk) 16:15, 8 September 2011 (UTC)
Of the Nazis for whom we have Wikipedia articles, almost all of those who were assassinated were assassinated by Allies (assuming that Polish resistance is considered amongst the Allies). And what constitutes an Ally is not sufficiently well defined so as to make it a good subcategory. The main point of this whole categoy and any potential subcats is to point out which Nazis were assassinated, not other stuff which is closer to being superfluous. Anyways, I think that "Polish resistance" is a better subset than "Allies" and looks like a good category to keep.Hoops gza (talk) 20:06, 9 September 2011 (UTC)
Emptying categories and then nomination for deletion as empty is considered a violation of the guidelines for deleting categories. This should be done at WP:CFD and see if consensus supports an action like this. Vegaswikian (talk) 02:51, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

youtube as a source

Hello, you left a complaint on my talk page about using youtube as a source. I don't know if you took the time to look at the information I referenced, but it comes from two Polish gentlemen who have made the research of Polish cabaret and its performers, history, composers etc. their life work. They have collections unparalleled in the world as far as I can see and their knowledge is exhaustive. However, they do not choose to write books on the subject. Their chosen way of sharing is to write wonderful glosses on the historic recordings they put up on youtube. I have corresponded with them and feel they have information which is available currently in no other form whatsoever. Jane Peppler (talk) 11:37, 3 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi, I wanted to let you know that I removed your WP:CSD G8 from SS personnel assigned to Auschwitz. The redirect target exists, so I don't see how G8 can apply. Monty845 20:05, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

I disagree with your opinion that the redirect should be deleted based on its name, but if you think it should be, WP:RFD is the proper place to raise the issue. Monty845 20:11, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
First, your reason for requesting deletion does not meet the criteria of WP:CSD G8. Second it is common for redirects to point to target articles that do not exactly match the name of the redirect, but do represent a topic close enough that the user being redirected may find it helpful to have been redirected instead of finding nothing at all. Monty845 20:20, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
While I disagree with your opinion on the distinctiveness of the two subjects, even if your correct, WP:CSD G8 is not the correct way to delete the redirect. G8 is for cases such as a redirect to a page that has never existed, or to a page that has been deleted, not for disputes over the merit of a redirect. The proper place to request the deletion of a redirect because you disagree with the connection between the redirect and its target is at Redirects for Discussion. Monty845 20:37, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
Please refrain from adding {{db-g8}} to SS personnel assigned to Auschwitz. This is highly disruptive and is a block-worthy offense. You've been around long enough to know what can be requested under G8 and what cannot. If you believe the redirect should be deleted, request that at WP:RFD. Do not re-add this tag. -FASTILY (TALK) 03:57, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on File:Grabner, Maximilian.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F10 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a file that is not an image, sound file or video clip (e.g. a Word document or PDF file) that has no encyclopedic use.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hoops gza (talk) 03:13, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

We previously had some discussion about images in List of major perpetrators of the Holocaust and I notice that since that time many of the image you have added use the copyright tag {{PD-EU-no author disclosure}} but you have failed to comply with all the terms of that tag. Read it carefully and you will see what I mean, otherwise those image will need to be nominated for deletion. Good luck ww2censor (talk) 03:56, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

Hoops, what you are doing is vandalism by placing images with valid reasons to be used on Wikipedia, and replacing them with (yes much better quality images) using garbage reasons. You deleted File:Franz Stangl.jpg which had a valid use reason, and replaced it with File:Stangl, Franz.jpg claiming its a 70+ year old photo as reason for public domain. It is not 70+ years old, that was the reason why the previous photo was not so shiny and glossy, so it would comply with fair use. Stop ripping photos and claiming they are 70+ years old and putting proper photos under speedy deletion. Cheers! Meishern (talk) 20:57, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Stangl, Franz.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Stangl, Franz.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Meishern (talk) 21:08, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

I noticed you added a deathdate for him , could you add a source for it? Or tell me what makes you certain, because as i mentioned in the talk he was interviewed in the 70s'

Saw the source you added , but can you elaborate since i still dont understand how he could of died in 1970 when the World at War was on air in 1973 and most of the interviews are from 1971-1973. User:Goldblooded (Talk/Discuss)(Complain) 17:18, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Alright, so, while we've come this far, it's time for a final warning.
You're a good editor. The majority of your contributions are great. But the continued edit warring, messy copyright work, and process disruption is really starting to become a problem. A block-worthy problem. Please tread lightly from now on - some people would have you blocked as it is. I'd like to extend you a final chance. Take more care with your edits and abide by policy. If you come across something you're not quite clear on, feel free to ask myself or one of the many other senior editors for guidance. I'd much prefer to help you out with something rather than end up blocking you. Please, take this seriously. Thank you, m.o.p 04:18, 9 November 2011 (UTC)
Hi again. I was just looking at your move of Joachim Peiper - I assume your intent was to use the more-commonly presented name? m.o.p 03:29, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

Response

Oh right thats fair enough, i was just being curious :) Also another good history documentary series is World War II : The Complete History , its regulary shown on SKY UK on discovery and discovery history channels, i think its rather underrated by many and the music in it is really spooky and adds to the atmosphere, if youd watch it you'd know what i mean. Although dont get the DVD set of it because for some reason the narrator is different to the one on the TV series and it doesnt give the same amount of emphasis (and also the script is a tad different as well) User:Goldblooded (Talk/Discuss)(Complain) 14:34, 18 November 2011 (UTC)

List of compositions by Scott Joplin

Hi there, Many thanks for your message on my talk page; I have put a version of the list article in my user space to experiment with, mainly because I wanted to try some things out and see what worked. I'm honestly not sure about having separate tables for the compositions. There are arguments for having separate tables of the Joplin rags, rather than the songs or the Waltzes say. That's why I wanted to have a play and see what I thought.

That and I realise the Lead is not really very good and needs going over, so a separate space to in which to tinker with it was sensible until I had something in better shape to make public.

I've had a look at the table as it is on the page: well done on organising it so it is sort-able. I agree with you that a table which can be sorted is probably better than numerous separate tables. Ben (Major Bloodnok) (talk) 23:43, 24 November 2011 (UTC)

Hi, Hoops gza. I am not sure why you are reverting my improvements to the above template. At first I thought you might be objecting to my removal of the colours, so I put them back in. But now you have reverted me again, saying the template is "too long." However, on my set-up (Toshiba laptop running Firefox 8) the two versions look the same, but my version accomplishes the same task in 1100 fewer bites. Could you please explain to me what differences you are seeing between the two versions? Thanks. --Dianna (talk) 04:06, 2 December 2011 (UTC)

Removing Speedy at Ernst Stengelin

Hi Hoops gza, you recently removed a deletion tag from Ernst Stengelin. Because Wikipedia policy does not allow the creator of the page to remove speedy deletion tags, an automated program has replaced the tag. Although the deletion proposal may be incorrect, removing the tag is not the correct way for you to contest the deletion, even if you are more experienced than the nominator. Instead, please use the talk page to explain why the page should not be deleted. Remember to be patient, there is no harm in waiting for another experienced user to review the deletion and judge what the right course of action is. As you are involved, and therefore potentially biased, you should refrain from doing this yourself. Thank you, - SDPatrolBot (talk) 06:16, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Ernst Stengelin. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Click here to contest this speedy deletion, which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. - SDPatrolBot (talk) 06:44, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for uploading File:Willi Mentz.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Non-free rationale for File:Eichmann, Adolf.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Eichmann, Adolf.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 01:20, 23 March 2012 (UTC)

Self-Published Sources

You have repeatedly, in a slow-motion edit war, restored citations to self-published amateur WWII buff websites, some of which are defunct, as references in the List of Nazis articles. Please familiarize yourself with WP:SPS and WP:RS. Self-published sources, no matter how well researched, are not to be used as sources in Wikipedia articles. Do not restore these citations yet again. Instead, find reliable sources published by independent, reputable publishers in lieu of these deleted sources.Fladrif (talk) 16:57, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

Now you really are just edit warring, something you have been repeatedly warned about previously. Which part of WP:SPS and WP:RS don't you understand?Fladrif (talk) 17:01, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

Another for your List of Nazis

Franz Josef Huber (22 January 1902–30 January 1975) was a SS general in the Gestapo who rose to the rank of SS-Brigadeführer und Generalmajor der Polizei; his Nazi Party member number was: 4,583,151 and the SS number 107,099. Disambiguation link notification for April 6

Hi. When you recently edited Timeline of deportations of French Jews to death camps, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Saint-Sulpice, Bergen-Belsen and Noé (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

You are nominated the above for renaming and then said you are now convinced it should be kept. I would suggest that you withdraw the nomination (for example by striking it out using <s></s>), which will probably lead to an admin closing the nomination. Timeline of Treblinka

Please take a look at my expansion of Gniewoszów, Masovian Voivodeship with added history of the Jewish community along with new wp:rs references. The Holocaust Memorial Museum Encyclopedia says that on August 19–20 approximately 5,000 Jews were shipped in Holocaust trains from Gniewoszów to Zwoleń transit ghetto nearby. The remaining 1,000 Jews were sent to their deaths in Treblinka extermination camp on November 15, 1942. In your Timeline of Treblinka the second date and number of inmates matches perfectly, but the first one (transport dated September 15, 1942) seems not fully explained given the above quoted statistics. Thanks in advance for taking a closer look at it. Poeticbent talk 16:58, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

German pronounciation requests

Hey Hoops gza,

I'll pronounce the following persons for you in the next days: Joseph Goebbels, Amon Leopold Goeth and Arthur Liebehenschel. But unfortunately, I won't make a pronounciation of Hermann Göring, because there's already a good one on the page, and I won't make one of Reinhard Heydrich, because his second name "Tristan" has got an "s" that would sound bad, because my microphone (I've got an old one) makes s-sounds to a lisped sound. I hope, you'll find another person, who'll pronounce him for you.

Greeting, RaveDog (talk) 01:38, 11 April 2012 (CET)

- Dunno why, but my microphone isn't doing the lisped sound anymore. So I'll make the pronounciation of Reinhard Heydrich, too.

Greeting, RaveDog (talk) 01:46, 11 April 2012 (CET)

- Hey Hoops gza,

I made your new pronounciation requests, except of Rudolf Höss because I dunno how to pronounce his surname. The problem is the "ß" because in names it depends. Greetings, RaveDog (talk) 22:55, 19 April 2012 (CET)

Nazi Party List references

Hi Hoops

I received your message on list references, I will indeed be able to provide a note for each entry - I'll do that by extracting an existing reference from inside each article that best suits and then update the list. Ultracobalt (talk) 00:57, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

I finished adding references with page numbers, over half are from from Klee. One comes from a book that I do not have the exact page # for, Heinrich Schmidt (politician), however as Kreisleiter and SA member, he would be required to be an NSDAP member also. I hope these references are sufficient. Best Regards Ultracobalt (talk) 20:44, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi Hoops, no problem. I've made a start on it at least. More to follow. Cheers. --Bermicourt (talk) 20:02, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

Translation completed and I've tracked down some of the links to Bernburg that really referred to this place and have amended them. There may be more out there though. --Bermicourt (talk) 20:56, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
I'm happy for you to suggest occasional articles for translation, but because it's v time-consuming, I generally only take on those in which I have an interest (mainly aspects of the geography and history of Germany, occasionally Austria) and when I'm not working on other articles. --Bermicourt (talk) 06:10, 14 April 2012 (UTC)

Belzec Trial

Hi Hoops, I'm interested in this one and will give it a bash when I'm back on home turf. Cheers. --Bermicourt (talk) 12:06, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

This is now done - please feel free to check it over. Some of the translation involved legal terms that I'm not totally familiar with. I also didn't expand on current plans for a retrial as that could be sensitive. --Bermicourt (talk) 13:20, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

There is nothing in the article to explain this category - before categorising people as such any evidence should be added to the article

I am not suggesting that Walter Warlimont was not a Nazi but can you please appreciate the risks in categorising anybody or anything with a category unsupported by anything in the article being categorised? Please add your evidence of party membership to the article. Best Wishes. S a g a C i t y (talk) 08:24, 3 May 2012 (UTC)

Eduard David

Hi Hoops, yikes! That is a long article! I'm still finishing Child euthanasia in Nazi Germany and may do some related stuff. However, I could do a summary of the German article that will be a start. Are you a historian? --Bermicourt (talk) 10:21, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

Translation request complete

Hi Hoops... per your request I finished the translation of Franz Suchomel from German wiki. It's ready for your expansion - I'll let ya know when I finish the other article. -- Ultracobalt (talk) 19:07, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

Image notices

Sorry about the multiple PUF listings. I'm going through files tagged with {{Copy to Wikimedia Commons}} and part of checking those images before moving them to Commons is verifying the image license. {{PD-EU-no author disclosure}} contains a note saying it is insufficient on its own to make the file public domain because the US doesn't have any author-disclosure law. If any more of these images come up while I'm doing random files out of the move-to-Commons categories, I may have to list them at PUF as well. —Darkwind (talk) 00:31, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
