Wikipedia:Non-free content policy and guideline[edit]

Please do not place or replace any non-free images to any pages except for actual articles, as you did at User:Brightify/Spongebob Squarepants. Such use is a clear violation of point number 9 of our policy concerning the use of non-free images. Continuing to do so can be viewed as disruptive behaviour and you may be blocked from editing. VernoWhitney (talk) 02:42, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have just now removed another violation from User:Brightify/Detentionaire. If you have any questions or concerns about the policy, just ask. Please do not simply continue placing non-free content into your userspace. VernoWhitney (talk) 23:32, 26 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If you do not stop placing non-free images in your userspace (as you did only a few hours ago at User:Brightify/Jimmy Two-Shoes, you will be blocked from editing. VernoWhitney (talk) 13:43, 27 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free images[edit]

Hi there. All of the images you've uploaded are currently up for deletion. In order for Wikipedia to host an image, several things are needed:

  • The source of the image (where you got it from)
  • The author of the image (who originally made it)
  • What the image is (a description)
  • A copyright license

None of your images had these. The first three are usually placed in a template called Template:Information. The copyright license is a special template. I'm not sure how you were able to upload images without being asked to fill out a form that would have covered these things, but you appear to have bypassed this.

In addition, all of the images you've uploaded (except for the blank yellow square) are of cartoon characters. The copyright for those images is held by the creator of the cartoon characters, and so those images are considered "non-free" (they don't have a free license). Wikipedia only allows non-free licenses in live articles, not userspace pages, even draft articles in the userspace.

I've removed the wall of deletion notices, because they're large and unfriendly, and not terribly helpful. You can read them by clicking here and scrolling down. Sven Manguard Wha? 17:08, 26 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Since you kept misusing this talk page for things other than what it is supposed to be used for when you're blocked – requesting an unblock – and particularly since you kept posting non-free images on it inappropriately, I have further blocked you from editing this page. You may still request an unblock through the Wikipedia:Unblock Ticket Request System if you know of a good reason why you should be unblocked. Fut.Perf. 17:41, 5 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
