Vasudeo Sitaram Bendrey[edit]

I'm afraid it's still WP:Plagiarism - and there is a serious problem of how you are going to meet WP:VERIFY. I note that you've confused Sadashiv Ambadas Dange, the academic, with Shripad Amrit Dange one of the founders of the CPI, and even if you straighten that out you don't have a source for the statement. You'd do better by trying to get the blog out of your mind entirely and starting a new article finding your own sources. Dougweller (talk) 08:14, 20 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies for being so slow in replying. What I meant by confusion was that your wikilink was to the wrong Dange. In any case, I did respond to your request for help which I see below has had some results. Good luck. Dougweller (talk) 05:02, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Question and advice regarding your Vasudeo Sitaram Bendrey AFC[edit]

I have looked over your AFC submission that I saw referenced here, and I have a few questions and possible advice that may help improve the submission and help it be moved to wikipedia mainspace.

Questions
  1. Are there any written publications that provide biographical details about Bendrey? And by written publications I specifically mean ones that would pass the wikipedia's reliable sources standard. These would generally include books, journal articles/essays, newspaper article etc, and exclude generic web-pages and blog posts.
  2. Are there any specific (state, national, international level or other established) awards that Bendrey won for his work as a historian? Can this be independently documented (for example, using a listing on the award web-site)?

If either of the above two can be answered in the affirmative, that would be the easiest path to establish notability by wikipedia's standards.

Advice
  1. In the AFC, move the books written by VS Bendrey to a Bibliography section, instead of listing them as references. (See this as an example.)
  2. Using youtube interviews as a source: this is a tough one, especially since the videos were compiled by the subject's granddaughter, and may not be regarded as sufficiently independent, reliable or third-party sources. But setting that aside for now, what you need to do is
    • Remove all content from the draft article that cannot be directly referenced using the interview dialogue,
    • Add inline references to the interviews to the draft article with proper attribution, so that a reviewer who knows Marathi can verify that the interview supports the article statements. You can use {{Cite AV media}} for the purpose. (I'll provide an example below). If there are facts you know that cannot be referenced using the interviews, or sources other than Sadhana's blog, leave them out.
    • Once you have made these changes, leave a message at India notice board requesting a Marathi-speaking editor to review your submission. Or, contact an editor from this list on their talk page (for example, User:Redtigerxyz or User:Rsrikanth05, who are very experienced editors and are currently active on wikipedia) and ask them to take a look.
  3. I am guessing that you are related to the article's subject. Personally, I don't have a problem with that but, if that is the case you should read up wikipedia's conflict of interest guidelines. Also, I'd recommend that you declare your COI pro-actively on your userpage; this is not a wikipedia requirement per se, but does prevent possible later accusations of editing in bad faith.

The above steps may not suffice to meet wikipedia's policies regarding notability and sourcing, but in my opinion will maximize the chances of your submission being accepted. Hope this helps. Abecedare (talk) 01:40, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

How to cite a video

And here is an example of {{Cite AV media}}:

"In an interview historian Ninad Bedekar discusses the description of Shivaji by Dutch historian Valentijn and a sketch..."<ref>{{cite AV media | last=Bendrey |first= Sadhana| date=August 12, 2013 | title=Ninad Bedekar on Historian Vasudeo Sitaram Bendrey,s work| minutes=6| |url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJmogEsHaDA| publisher= Youtube.com|accessdate= Oct 22, 2013}}</ref>

which will appear as:

"In an interview historian Ninad Bedekar discusses the description of Shivaji by Dutch historian Valentijn and a sketch..."[1]

References

A little difficult to get sources. The subject is of such a nature. While I'm good at squeezing out from Google, that's what I intend to do if needed here. These are the only two links I found; which may be reliable and significant. 1 and 2. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 06:45, 23 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
