G'day Cholmes,
thanks for query. I don't have evidence that she meets WP:BIO, nor do I need it. WP:BIO is a guideline, which works only insofar as people on AfD care to refer to it — it has no relevance whatsoever to working with speedy deletions. Ms Dayton's article claims that she is a published author, with a couple of novels to her name, no less. That's more than enough for an article to be passed over when it comes to speedying stuff — if you want it deleted, go talk to AfD. Cheers, fuddlemark (fuddle me!) 19:09, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
Lists of NHL players
Hello! Actually, I created most of the lists of NHL players. When I first started creating the lists (almost a year ago now), i was asked the very question that you just asked. I feel that the player lists are needed for two very important reasons that the category list falls short on. 1. the player lists show all the players regardless of whether they have an article or not. If a player doesn't have an article, he definately won't show up on the category list. 2. having player lists helps disambig player articles for players who don't have articles yet and helps keep duplicate player articles from being created.
in a perfect wikipedia, every player would have an article and the player lists could be deleted. Also, if you are to look at all the players, you will notice that not all players have been added to the categories, yet almost all of the players have been added to the player lists. When i get some time, i plan to update the rest of the player lists. Over the season, I have been adding players as they are traded or join the team by other means, but I haven't quite finished all that yet. Masterhatch 00:04, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Hello, the original website that had the image had all the pictures of the teams without any copyright status, and I believed they fell into our rules of promotional use. Fair Use Images
The image I posted of Morgan Pressel in Windows Media Player qualifies as fair use, as it is a screenshot of the software in question. I documented the webpage it came from, so can you please stop trying to delete the images I upload that qualify under fair use?--Nick Dillinger 00:28, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- It is actaully also on the Wikipedia article for Windows Media Player, as an example of a output look of the software in question.--Nick Dillinger 00:39, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- Here's the deal. Since it is actaully fair use of copyright, and all atheletes who appear on sports illustrated covers are allowed to have a fair use image of the magazine on their bio page, then from that precident I will keep the Screen shot on Morgan's bio page in lieu of a non-copyrighted image. --Nick Dillinger 00:44, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- Screenshots of computer software are only fair use within articles discussing the software in question. Kiss albums
Actually, in the VHS video KISS EXTREME: CLOSE UP, both Paul and Gene state that the solo albums have the Kiss logo on them to represent unity since they were going through a tough time back then. Peter and Ace had threatened to quit the band, so in order to keep them in the band, Gene and Paul suggested they alld o solo albums, put the Kiss logo in the corner, and dedicate them all to each other. Cover art does not determine whether it is a solo album or not. The credits do. The members of Kiss did not work together in any way at all musically ont hese albums. The logo is more to say "Gene Simmons OF KISS" as opposed to a KISS album named "Gene Simmons." The band members have confirmed this time and time again. "The Best of Solo Albums," released in 1978 but discontinued, was released as a Kiss album, not the individual solo projects. Also, Gene mentions in A&E Biography that "Asshole" is is first SOLO album since 1978.
Speedy deletion as non-notable
Hi there. I notice that you've lately nominated some articles for speedy deletion for being non-notable. Several of these were replaced with PRODs, while one was deleted but later restored (by me) because the article had recently had a consensus of keep on AfD and didn't meet the speedy criterion it was listed under. I'd like to politely remind you that non-notability is not a criterion for speedy deletion; only "no assertion of notability" is, and only for people and groups—the criteria are deliberately set high, because it's better to err on the side of keep for a process with no review. I would encourage you to use PROD instead for entries that are obviously not notable but don't meet any speedy criteria. Thanks, SCZenz 22:57, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

This media may be deleted.

I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that your image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If your image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why your image was deleted. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. cholmes75 20:50, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

I noticed that you tagged the page User:Airtranva for speedy deletion with the reason "Vanity page for non-notable company, disguised as a user page.". You may be in line for a hundred hand slap. I don't know what goes on over in the united states, but when this has spred to other universities and no doubt the whole of great britain you will be begging nottingham university for the rights to include this revolutionary cognitive system in your inferior pages. however by then we will have E.Hondered right on past you and all the way to the bank.
Cultural pessimism
Did you notice the interwiki link to a German-language article, and take that into account, when proposing cultural pessimism for deletion. Sure, it could do with more references, as could numerous other old-time articles. But to claim that it is original research seems to me just superficial. VandalProof 1.2 Now Available
After a lenghty, but much-needed Wikibreak, I'm happy to announce that version 1.2 of VandalProof is now available for download! Beyond fixing some of the most obnoxious bugs, like the persistent crash on start-up that many have experienced, version 1.2 also offers a wide variety of new features, including a stub-sorter, a global user whitelist and blacklist, navigational controls, and greater customization. You can find a full list of the new features here. While I believe this release to be a significant improvement over the last, it's nonetheless nowhere near the end of the line for VandalProof. Thanks to Rob Church, I now have an account on test.wikipedia.org with SysOp rights and have already been hard at work incorporating administrative tools into VandalProof, which I plan to make available in the near future. An example of one such SysOp tool that I'm working on incorporating is my simple history merge tool, which simplifies the process of performing history merges from one article into another. Anyway, if you haven't already, I'd encourage you to download and install version 1.2 and take it out for a test-drive. As always, your suggestions for improvement are always appreciated, and I hope that you will find this new version useful. Happy editing! --AmiDaniel (talk) 02:12, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

Honolulu Waldorf School
Are you some kind of anti-waldorf nut?
Hi. Good job spotting the orphanned image. The image (and a couple of others) had been used in a previous iteration of the Alizée article, but further edits by some editors (including myself) have changed the article to quite an extent such that the image is no more relevant to the current version of the article. Thats why it has been removed. It can be used by other editors for other uses but the current state of its original article doesn't warrant an inclusion. If it is not used, it may be safely deleted. --soUmyaSch 15:37, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
Hey -- I added a {{copyvio}} tag to this. In general, when you find a copyright violation, it's a good idea to remove the copyrighted content right away; this is what the copyvio tag is for. Personally, I'm not sure about using prod and copyvio at the same time since they're separate deletion processes, but my opinion is that such articles might as well be listed in both places, if the article would likely be deleted regardless of the copyright issue. Thanks! Mangojuicetalk 16:26, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

Hello
I removed MTV Unplugged from the Criss discography because he was not a member of Kiss when that album was recorded. He was merely a special guest. Maybe if we list it, it should be noted that he was simply an outside contributor.
Also, I'm very surprised that Wikipedia is listing solo albums as Kiss albums. The Kiss website might do so, but that is logisitically incorrect. Kiss did not play on those albums. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sectornine (talk • contribs)

Loob tagged for speedy deletion within 1 minute
Tagging something for speedy deletion within 1 minute of a first draft being posted must be some kind of record! :-?
FYI, rest of the stuff being typed in discussion when I was caught by you and gadfium editing is posted below, :-)
Excuse given was:
I try not to be too fast on the speedy tag trigger finger, but it took 30 seconds to find out that their forums have 130 members. Made it an easy call. --cholmes75 (chit chat) 04:00, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
Which judges merit entirely upon size and a less than 1 minute appraisal of the forum. It is also a clear breach of Wikipedia policy relating to speedy deletion: The "Speedy deletion" policy governs limited cases where Wikipedia administrators may delete Wikipedia pages or media "on sight" without further debate, as in the cases of patent nonsense or pure vandalism.
Clearly this entry is neither nonsense nor vandalism.
The "Speedy deletion" policy governs limited cases where Wikipedia administrators may delete Wikipedia pages or media "on sight" without further debate, as in the cases of patent nonsense or pure vandalism.
The policy also states:
Before nominating an article for speedy deletion, please consider whether an article could be improved or reduced to a stub.
This was not done
Also, please note that some Wikipedians create articles in multiple saves, so try to avoid deleting a page too soon after its initial creation.
This was clearly not done, including for this note,(and yes, I probably should work it out on word first).
Users nominating a page for speedy deletion should specify which criteria the page meets;
This was not done.
In fact the whole thing happened so fast I was still reading up on the policy for speedy deletion when gadfium stepped in, and have been blocked from finishing this three times by editing conflicts! :-). Yes, I can see there is an arguable case for saying this forum is an unremarkable group or organisation, but lets have some argument, or at least polite discussion about it please!
- The point is, there is no assertion that would make it even arguably notable. If you put an assertion of notability in the article, then it can't be speedy deleted. -- SCZenz 04:49, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
Which rather misses the point that it was listed for deletion after only the first scentence had been written - there was never any real chance to get far enough into composing the article to include any assertion of notability even in the unlikley event this obscure criteria was lurking on the forefront of a writers mind. Looking at some of the other comments on this page, I think there might be reason to ease off on that trigger finger, save speedy delete for obvious badness, and for other articles you merely don't like the look of, perhaps start by an message to the author suggesting there is a problem then, if you still don't like things, refer to afD. USER:Winstonwolfe :-).

Beria
You removed a contribution I had made to the piece on Lavrenti Beria, a man whom Stalin himself called 'Our Himmler'.
The contribution pointed out that Beria was not simply responsible for the imprisonment, torture, execution and deportations 'of the last stages of the Terror of the 30s' as - I paraphrase - the article has it. As a long-time deputy of Yezhov, then head of the NKVD, Beria was deeply involved in these activities throughout the period of repression. I mentioned that Beria often surpervised torture personally.
Additionally, I mentioned that Beria was 'a serial rapist and sexual torturer of young women'. This is pertinent to the whole significance of Beria's role in the Stalin regime since it provides a motivation for his actions that go far beyond the political.
My sources are:
"Stalin: The Court of the Red Tsar" by Simon Sebag Montefiore "Stalin's Loyal Executioner: People's Commissar Nikolai Ezhov, 1895-1940" by Marc Jansen and Nikita Petrov—Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.129.119.207 (talk • contribs)

Hi Cholmes75. Please, in future, can you check to see if Wiktionary has an article before you add {{dicdef}} to an article. P-P was already transwikied to Wiktionary (not in the normal way, but in a more direct manner) as were quite a few articles currently in Category:Copy to Wiktionary. So having them re-catted creates extra work for us transwiki people (it is a thankless task btw). So in future, if you're going to propose for transwiki, can you check the history. With the case for P-P, the edit summaries tell you that it has been moved already. I hope you understand, and sorry for having a go at you. --Dangherous 10:59, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

There is less agreement about links to years. Some editors believe that links to years are generally useful to establish context for the article. Others believe that links to years are rarely useful to the reader. Some advocate linking to a more specific article about that year, for example [[2006 in sports|2006]].
Examples of links which do not respond to readers' date preferences:
Note the absense of the phrase "generally should not be linked" next to the wikilinked year.
I am one of those editors who believe that links to years are generally useful, so I reverted your revert; however, more specific links to "X in sports" articles are probably more appropriate, so I changed the links to those. eae 17:10, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
thanks for your review of our page
I really appreciate your review of the page about out school. I am, in fact the author of the content which has been rejected for copyright issues. I hold the copyright and therefore give myself permission to re-post it on wikipedia. How do I go about making these changes? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Baci (talk • contribs)
Image Uploads
Like from where I got them from right? (SKITTLES 02:24, 11 June 2006 (UTC))
What do you mean not publicity photos?
So, what can I put to make it copyrighted?
Wow..it's very difficult to read. I have to put something like

but when I did, it wasn't a good idea. So can you help me out, please?(SKITTLES 02:34, 11 June 2006 (UTC))
I think I've got it. I just added the link where I found it.
Hmm...that's very difficult..
Copyright violation claim is Absolute RUBBISH
Wikipedia uses java script encoding and is not compatible apparently with my browser, as it does not permit me to do any editting or additional "coding" to add any copyright notices. Each time I have attempted to do so, a screen loads stating "This page is too large to view". I have posted permission to the article several times and emailed Wikipedia about this issue. Beyond that there is nothing more I can do.
I consider the copyright violation claim by Cholmes75 pure harrassment and libelous. I have notified Wikipedia about this issue three times by email already. If Cholmes75 had any questions about the content or the fact of permissions on re-transmissions and/or redistribution of this article, he should have notified ME first with the question either through Wikiedia or through my contacts on my website. In fact I see that Cholmes75 did follow the link to my Soundclick.com/markchadbourne site and made no attempt to reach me through my messageboard nor through email. Cholmes75 also makes use of copyrighted photographs on his own personal blog (re: Everwood). and has no such notices there claiming he has permission to do so that he is "requiring" of my article here.
I will certainly notify my members and visitors of the incredible incompetance of Wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mark Chadbourne (talk • contribs)
- So Wikipedia is incompetent, but you can't operate a web browser? OK then. And by the way, I did look at your little web site, and right on the bottom it says ©1997-2006 SoundClick Inc. All rights reserved. Sure looks like a copyright notice to me. --cholmes75 (chit chat) 17:07, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
Winfield Scott (ship)
Hi Cholmes75,
What you've done with the article is great! I just came across the ship when I was researching a paper for the effect of black rats on Anacapa. I don't have any resources to share, except for about the eradication effort. As far as I know, it is not certain that black rats where the result of the shipwreck, or some other event between then and a later date.
Anyway, thanks for your great work on the article! Matthias5 21:03, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
yes Incompetent
Sir- Did you bother to click on the LICENSING AGREEMENT that is posted at Soundclick that allows for redistribution? No of course not. I hold the copyright on the article and have granted licensing for its inclusion on Wikipedia and have made notice of that to Wikipedia. PERIOD. Correct your mistake and cease and desist your harrassment of me. Be advised that this communication will be brought to the attention of Wikipedia.org Mark Chadbourne —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.240.206.191 (talk • contribs)
- OK, whatever. While you're at it, why don't you show them the wonderful little bit you wrote, attacking me on a public website? I'm sure that doesn't constitute harrassment. The copyright notice on the article left explicit instructions on how to get the matter resolved. In fact, I even went out of my way to provide you with those instructions again. Whether or not you choose to follow them is beyond my control. Have a nice day. --cholmes75 (chit chat) 04:15, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
Hmm... I will look into it. --Fang Aili talk 16:20, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
Image tagging
Hey, just thought I would drop you a note and maybe save you some time. The images tagged with {{no source}} and {{no license}} are automatically added to date-based categories, like Category:Images with unknown copyright status. We can then go to that category, and remove images that are over 7 days old even if they aren't tagged with a speedy delete tag. Of course, it doesn't really matter if they are tagged speedy delete, but it might clog up the speedy delete system. (image deletions are a lot more in volume than speedy delete usually deals with). Anyway, I definitely don't want to scare you away from working with images because there is a lot of work to do! If you want to see some scary lists to work on check out Wikipedia:Untagged images or Category:Images with no copyright tag. If you have any questions let me know :) - cohesion 17:04, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
Indiana Predator Challenge deletion
I understand you can't accept copyrighted text or images, but the site that came from www.indianapredatorchallenge.com is my site and my own words. It wasn't plagerism because I didn't steal it off of somebody else. I figured I would put it on Wikipedia because of your growing popularity in my region, and everybody is asking "What is the Indiana Predator Challenge". Posiedon 18:10, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
Understanding
Thanks Cholmes75, I didn't realize that I didn't have my email in the profile, therefore I was unable to recieve any notifications. The article, Indiana Predator Challenge is back and I would appreciate any help wikifying it or doing anything to help make it a better article. This is my first attempt. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jfrye9319 (talk • contribs)
Hey you
Hey would stop adding the image-no-source thing ok, almost all the pics I uploaded have source so stop it, ur getting on my nerves thank you!.--LooseTheHotButtonS 12:32, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- They weren't tagged as having no source, they were tagged as having no licensing information. There is a difference. --cholmes75 (chit chat) 13:17, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
Fear Street Category
Thank you for creating a category for Fear Street novels. It makes it much easier to determine which pages have been created and which ones remain to be. Keep up the good work--Dleav 19:29, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
Regine Velasquez
"á"
Somebody changed the name and used special character in the surname. This is not correct. The singer Regine Velasquez never used any special characters in her name. And you can search looking at her albums and movies and by searching in Google.
I mentioned this in the edit summary.
I also wanted to ask you what information is needed for adding a screenshot pic. The title of the movie/show? The film company? I tried to read the information but I didn't understand it very well. Please let me know. What is difference of source, copyright and license? Thanks for your explanation!
Thanks~! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.100.197.50 (talk • contribs)

Hey Cholmes, I took that photo myself and photoshopped in the arrow. The one that was there was pretty bad and I had about a hundred or so Peace dollars around so I whipped one up. :-) Bobby 01:27, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
???
You didn't bother responding to my email regarding the O'hAnleigh article except with a posting that I had to find via Google. If you'd READ my email, you'd have notice that I said I OWN THE COPYRIGHT ON THE MATERIAL SUBMITTED AS THE O'HANLEIGH WIKIPEDIA ARTICLE. You posted a response saying gee, you can't accept copyrighted material so maybe I'd like to write it in my own words. I DID write it in MY OWN WORDS, and thus I OWN THE COPYRIGHT ON IT. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.49.186.186 (talk • contribs)
- I didn't get any email from you, but perhaps if you USE MORE CAPITAL LETTERS that will change things. The copyright violation notices that get placed on articles clearly state the steps that must be followed to resolve copyright disputes. I suggest READING THEM CAREFULLY if you are not sure what to do. THANKS. --cholmes75 (chit chat) 22:08, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

I have deleted their main page (with redirect and protection) as well as a subpage. If the page is recreated under this name or any other, and the users remove speedy tags, feel welcome to drop me a note or email me. Ian¹³/t 17:28, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
I deprodded this after merging it with Whisper 2000, the band's album. My feeling is that the assertion that the band is Virgin's first Norwegian band may make them meet WP:MUSIC; it's debatable anyway, so I'd prefer an AfD. Mangojuicetalk 18:29, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
A persistent vandal I've been keeping an eye on removed your no-source tag from this image. Since he does say what program it's from, I'm not sure if the no-source tag belongs there or not, so I'll let you handle it. I also note that it's a fair use image and unused currently. -- SCZenz 07:15, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
WP:Genre Jazz
Just wanted to tell you that I've wondered myself why there's no WikiProject for jazz! However, I'm not the most experienced Wikipedia editor (I'm learning!), so starting a project isn't something I quite know how to do. But you've got my support! Hope this project comes to surface! JoeTrumpet 11:05, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
- You are quite welcome. Thanks for starting it! I'll be sure to work on it to the best of my abilities. See you around. --JoeTrumpet 02:04, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the invite to contribute to this project on my talk page. I'll certain help fix & expand articles on jazz, though I tend not to get involved in doing a lot of creation of new articles. (I know this probably sounds crabby/unhelpful, but with plenty of easily available reference-materials out there such as the free online All Music Guide & in-print books like The Rough Guide to Jazz I do wonder about the exact point of reproducing the info available in such sources all over again in Wikipedia....) -- What I would suggest is that if you wish to attract more contributors to such a project, it would be worth posting invitations on some of the more popular jazz discussion boards: All About Jazz (http://forums.allaboutjazz.com), Organissimo (http://www.organissimo.org/forum) and Jazz Corner Speakeasy (http://www.jazzcornertalk.com). I suspect many denizens of the boards would be happy to chip in. ND 04:46, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
Numismatics
Greetings!! I'd like to welcome you to WikiProject Numismatics. Anything you see that can be improved upon, go for it, anything that is lacking add it, anything that is all together absent, please fill us in. There are quite a few knowledgeable people of both numismatics and wikipedia, in this little project, so don't hesitate to ask. Please be sure to read through the whole of the project pages, as we have just recently started using some of them. Again, welcome.

Rösselsprung
Hallo!
I just saw your query about the edit line I inserted in the Rösselsprung article about Evelyn Waugh. I haven't yet worked out how to make contributions properly but that was such a howler that it needed an annotation. It certainly wans't vandalism. I write for a living, have contributed to a lot of broadsheets and magazines around the world, covered the Balkans in the 1990s and am currently - not as a priority project, mind you - working on a book about the airborne unit that attacked Drvar on 25.5.1944 by parachute and glider. In fact, the book takes in SS-FJ-Btl 500 and 600. I met the former commander of the 500 and 600 and some of his men at a reception hosted by the Bundeswehr in 1989 after receiving the BW Parachutist Badge. I am a former British paratrooper. I have interviewed a number of veterans of this unit and of the raid, including former partisans.
So, no, it wasn't vandalism. In fact, I'd say that whoever suggested that Waugh was present at Drvar when the Germans attacked was having a laugh, rather than the other way around.
When I work out how to use this system, I might take the plunge and add a few things to that article.
Best regards,
P Keating —Preceding unsigned comment added by PAKeating (talk • contribs)
KISS project
I just made an article for the single "I Love It Loud" a couple of days ago. I've been trying to add articles based on the songs and singles as currently only a small number exist.
I'll check out the main article and such and do any fixing up as I see neceissary. Oh yeah, and if your book gives any info about Eric Carr's drumming on the song "Odyessy" that'd be great if we could clear up that on the Elder page.

KISS/Elder
Good follow up on The Elder details, hope to get it all cleared up soon. Also, do you know how to edit this box?:
It lists links to several of the KISS singles, but not all of them, such as Detroit Rock City and I Love It Loud. I know there is a way to edit it too, but I'm not sure how to do it. Do you know? Darwin's Bulldog 07:04, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
Notability for Gabba AFD
Hello. Re: Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Gabba_(band)
This to inform you that a large batch of sourced evidence of notability (including screenshots of articles from Mojo and Melody Maker, and photos of BBC sessions) has been provided after your vote, which you may want to reconsider. Regards, -- 62.147.113.247 05:45, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

"Rock and Roll All Nite" article
Hey man, I just posted some suggestions in the discussion section of the "Rock and Roll All Nite" article. It isn't entirely accurate, as the studio version of the song didn't become a hit. It wasn't until the version from KISS's Alive! album that it became a hit. I feel the article should reflect that information. Maybe by documenting the history of the song at that point and posting pics of both versions of the single. Also, wasn't it released as a single for the Smashes, Thrashes & Hits album as well? KISS edits
I saw you found another source to back up the claim that Eric Carr did not play drums on the track "Odyssey" from Music from "The Elder", thanx for the clairty.
Also, I've created a few new articles of some of KISS's singles, including "A World Without Heroes" and "God Gave Rock 'N Roll To You II". Feel free to check 'em out and fix any errors that might be present, also let me know what you think. Darwin's Bulldog 02:02, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
