Uhhhh....what vandalism???

Hello. I received a message saying I got a warning for vandalizing a page? I'm sorry, but I think you have the wrong guy.....I hardly never edit on Wiki and I've only edited on a Starfox Wiki named "Arwingpedia."

-Falcory —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.244.170.192 (talk) 09:26, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

My warning was in reference to this edit. In all likelihood, your IP is shared by many users, and my warning was intended for another editor who was using your IP to vandalize the article. Read Template:Shared IP for more information. You can avoid this situation in the future by creating an account. Let me know if you have any more questions. Regards, Dabomb87 (talk) 22:30, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

3RR complaint about Enthiran

Hello Dabomb87. See Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring#User:Fæ reported by User:Wangond (Result: ). I notice that you did the last protection of this article, so perhaps you are familiar with the disputes there. Would you say that the talk page shows consensus not to add any new figures for the gross revenue without proper verification? If so, that might allow a warning to Wangond that he may be blocked if he does not desist. EdJohnston (talk) 02:45, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

I protected the article after semi-protection was requested at RFPP due to excessive vandalism, nothing beyond that. Nevertheless, I shall take a look. Dabomb87 (talk) 04:10, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
OK, resolved (I think). I hope I handled things right; that was my first 3RR report. Dabomb87 (talk) 04:24, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
Thanks! That action looks reasonable to me. EdJohnston (talk) 04:29, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

I do not agree with the last edits and do not appreciate them at all; why did you delete them? even though they were sourced from many different websites, including Christianity today which is a very well known and objective website? why did you delete the origin of the Christians? I can smell a political bias in these un-explained edits, especially because you deleted sourced information, and did not give one single reason for that!

Then why do you keep deleting the sourced information about Ameer Makhoul? why do you add just of side, which is consider it to be very biased and promotes one point of view of the issue and delete the other side, which is sourced for no reason or explanation?

I start its a shame to use your power as an admin to shut up others and promote your own views in this respected site! wikipedia is an objective site, and does not and should not be a tool to promote any bias! I ask you to revert all the last edits; and to remove the page protection, so we can revert all the last biased edits

Thanks!--82.213.38.2 (talk) 07:55, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

Are you sure you're addressing your comment to the correct editor? I have not deleted (or added) any content from that Palestinian Christians, nor have I ever touched Ameer Makhoul. I protected the former because you have been repeatedly inserting unsourced or poorly sourced contentious material into that article without any attempt to discuss first. Please use the talk page to gain consensus for your edits. I can assure you that I have no opinions regarding the above articles, and am not trying to push any views on them. Dabomb87 (talk) 22:37, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

I know that you did not edit it, but you "protected" the page, right after someone edited it and deleted many sources and references, which I do not agree with at all, and I believe that it should be reverted back as it was. Please either remove the protection in order to revert this vandalism or revert it back as it was. Thanks--82.213.38.2 (talk) 07:56, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for semi-protecting the Gretzky article. It's amazing how many dolts like to go in there and vandalize it or make spurious changes. This ought to help. Echoedmyron (talk) 16:31, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

Featured article statistics

Hi Dabomb87, I did not realize Sandy is taking a break (hope she is back soon). I did some of the January stats for Wikipedia:Featured article statistics but am not super sure about the ones I left blank. Chetniks

Thank you, and my condolences, for dealing with the craziness on the RPP for Chetniks. That flame war was spilling out in a nasty way, and from the looks of a couple of Talk pages it hasn't cooled off much. I don't know, maybe I was out of line by tagging them both for edit warring, but I used to be a high-school baseball umpire, and "call 'em as I see 'em" is a really hard habit to break once it's ingrained. My patience boiled away fairly fast too, which is why I'm a long way from putting my name on the RfA page; situations like this make me want to grab both parties and knock their heads together! --Alan the Roving Ambassador (talk) 03:58, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

No problem. This is the type of stuff I deal with regularly. Dabomb87 (talk) 16:09, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

This article was recently protected, however, this user User:Itsrjay1 continues to vandalize the article. Can you rollback this user's edit to the one that I had done, shortly after you protected the article? Thanks, AJona1992 (talk) 14:45, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

Done, but is there any reason you couldn't have done this yourself? I didn't use rollback at all. Dabomb87 (talk) 16:11, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

Mylai Tenner

Respected Sir, Extremely sorry to have your precious time the Title "Mylai Tenner" I have created was blocked and even i did not get time to satisfy admin. I am extremely sorry for that and I will try to follow all the rules and regulation.Sir there was no advertising content on the page I request to review and edit the content you just fell is unambiguous. Mylai D Tenner is very popular and inspirational write. I request you to see his books 'Empowering quotes for women', '7 steps to a better first yoea of college', 'I was Just like you'etc.Regards Zeesolz (talk) 16:55, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

Hi Zeesolz. I think you need to read Wikipedia's guidelines and policies more thoroughly before trying to recreate Mylai Tenner. More specifically, you need to show that Tenner meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines; you can do this by giving examples of websites, publications, or other reliable sources in which he has received in-depth coverage. Tenner may also be considered notable if he meets one or more of the criteria at Wikipedia:Notability (people)#Creative professionals. Dabomb87 (talk) 17:01, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
Thank you sir first admin who atleast have time to reply, sir I was editing and during editing it was get deleted, Here is complete reference for Mylai Tenner [1] [2] Please review and give me time to edit and make it valuable for readers.Zeesolz (talk) 17:11, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
Unfortunately, neither of those references can be used to claim notability. The first is a blog published by the subject himself; that is not a secondary source. The second link is a speaker-matching service that doesn't so much cover Tenner as much as advertise him. If those are the only references you can find for him, I'm afraid that Wikipedia cannot include an article about him at this time. Dabomb87 (talk) 17:18, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
Sir other than these links his books are available on amazon which I mentioned above, you can read and decide whether it is fair to make a profile of Mylai Tenner or not, I want also to put some of his article on page which will show that how good writer he is, Kindly take a positive action regarding this.Zeesolz (talk) 18:29, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
I would like to point out that I replied on my talk page, and on the undelete request you made. GedUK  20:41, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

Thanks a bunch for granting my rollback and reviewer rights, I will use them responsibly. Cheers!  Angelo  ♫  22:45, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

Palm Beach State College

Can you share your thoughts on locking down Palm Beach State College and unblocking the editor who has been edit warring there? This seems like an issue with this editor not with the article.--RadioFan (talk) 04:45, 8 February 2011 (UTC)

As an uninvolved admin, this appears to be a somewhat complex issue. There are issues on both sides here, and I think protection should encourage all parties to reach a consensus through discussion. It does seem to be primarily one user causing trouble (assuming the IPs are Arcata1 (talk · contribs) logged out), but a couple other editors have been involved as well ([3][4]). I'll keep an eye on the article. Dabomb87 (talk) 04:52, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
How is this complex? There is a single editor who is adding inappropriate material to the article and multiple other editors trying to keep it out of there. You've restored editor privileges to an editor who insists on edit warring and removed access from everyone on this particular article, I think you should reconsider.--RadioFan (talk) 04:55, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
After reviewing the page history and talk page, I think you're right: I screwed up. I'm not sure if it was me getting confused by the various IPs and redlinked usernames, or just misreading the situation, but it's quite clear that this is an one user editing tendentiously against consensus than a content dispute. Please accept my apologies. Dabomb87 (talk) 05:03, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
No apologies necessary. Thanks for fixing things up.--RadioFan (talk) 12:23, 8 February 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for protecting this article however while it was in need of protecting, you cited WP:BLP as reasoning when in fact the article is about a fictional character.--TriiipleThreat (talk) 01:57, 9 February 2011 (UTC)

Agency Worker Regulations 2010

Hiya I DID NOT create the Article Agency Worker Regulations 2010 but followed a link to it from a spoof mail. I added text to the existing page to let others receiving the same mail know that it was fraudulent. The company were offering work from home and high wages but requested personal bank details and information. After a domain search I found that they were using multiple domains and addresses and were in act based in Melbourne rather than New York as they had claimed. I reported them to various law enforcement agencies. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Katsapa (talkcontribs) 11:59, 11 February 2011 (UTC) Katsapa (talk) 12:29, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

FLCs, FLRCS etc

Hello dude. I've noticed you're not getting much time to dedicate to FLC/FLRC, and I'm spending every available moment trying to review FLC/FLRC, thus making us both unsuitable candidates for the backlog! Should we formalise Giants as a director (if he'd be amenable to it) or is there another way? I'd like to be able to close stuff out but a lot of the time I'm too "involved"... Hope you're ok. All the best, The Rambling Man (talk) 21:21, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

I'm usually able to dedicate at least one day a week to closing FLCs/FLRCs. I'm more than happy to let Giants do some closures too. Dabomb87 (talk) 23:04, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

Added template for SuggestBot

Hi,

Thanks for being one of SuggestBot's users! I hope you have found the bot's suggestions useful.

We are in the process of switching from our previous list-based signup process to using templates and userboxes, and I have therefore added the appropriate template to your user talk page. You should receive the first set of suggestions within a day, and since we'll be automating SuggestBot you will from then on continue to receive them regularly at the desired frequency.

We now also have a userbox that you can use to let others know you're using SuggestBot, and if you don't want to clutter your user talk page the bot can post to a sub-page in your userspace. More information about the userbox and usage of the template is available on User:SuggestBot/Getting Recommendations Regularly.

If there are any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me on my user talk page. Thanks again, Nettrom (talk) 20:48, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

How about if you get on the task of moving the article to the name that most of the editors have reached a consensus upon rather than protecting the article? Thanks --Camilo Sanchez (talk) 23:08, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

I'm trying to read the multiple discussions across several pages to see if there is consensus for anything at this point, but it's hard when the article is unstable. Dabomb87 (talk) 23:14, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
You think you will find consensus? I doubt it, but the most logical name is Arab world protests, is general, but inclusive and neutral, is perfect. Pro-democracy is way..waaaayy..too POV. Trust me. --Camilo Sanchez (talk) 23:18, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
In the absence of consensus, the article, in my view, should be moved to the title that existed before the edit war started. I don't understand why we should reward an editor who unilaterally moves the page and then, brazenly, requests on RFPP that his preferred version be protected.  Cs32en Talk to me  23:28, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
Seconded and ditto above, why did you revert the move that consensus overwhelmingly favoured? in discussion twice to ME and NA and the latest to Arab world. Could you please rvt the AGF as an uninvolved editor/admin to what is agreed to? thanks.--Lihaas (talk) 23:29, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
The move was incorrectly carried out (copy-pasted rather than moved) and seemingly unilateral. If consensus is clear that the title should be something else, I would be happy to move it. Dabomb87 (talk) 23:35, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
When the article was first moved without any prior discussion, the consensus was overwhelmingly against. Jmj713 (talk) 23:36, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

Hi Dabomb87, I have no opinion on the merits of either title for the article, but at least the p in the title should be lowercase. Any objections if I move it? Ucucha 23:31, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

Please do. Dabomb87 (talk) 23:35, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

Noted, and I'm glad to see things are somewhat calm on talk right now. I'd like to see a little more time pass before moving it back (no more than half an hour or so). I think we can wait a little longer. I appreciate that this is a high-visibility page, but I would rather not rush things, either. Dabomb87 (talk) 23:54, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

It doesn't really matter whether 2010 - 2011 Arab world protests or 2010 - 2011 Middle East and North Africa protests are the names, I think they are both inclusive, I am only against the "pro - democracy" title. Thanks. --Camilo Sanchez (talk) 23:59, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

Page move and pending changes

Hi! I see you placed List of Nadars on pending changes protection. I just moved the page to List of notable Nadars to narrow the list's entry criteria. I noted that while the protection did follow the move, the log entry explaining the reason for protection did not. Would you be able to fix that? Does it count as a bug that should be brought to the devs attention? Thanks! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 19:51, 24 February 2011 (UTC)

Hi Elipongo. Yes, I do believe the protection log does not move along with the article. I know this has been reported before, but am not sure if there has been a bug request for it. You can ask more knowledgeable editors at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical). Regards, Dabomb87 (talk) 05:48, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
Thanks! As long as this is a known issue I'm cool. I was worried I had gummed something with the new system by performing the move - you have put my mind at ease. Hi, Dabomb. I just wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude and appreciation both for your recent block of vandalism-only editor IP 204.10.130.25 in response to my report at AIV, and for your overall work to keep the 'pedia safe from vandals more generally.
