Disambiguation link notification for December 18[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Digital television, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages DMB and DVB. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

February 2015[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Astrocog. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Camera, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. I reverted your recent edits to Camera because the lead image was perfectly fine the way it was. Also, the added information about George Eastman, while useful, was found to be directly copied from other sources, and additionally had no citations provided. The same information could be written in new prose and with proper referencing and would be a fine addition. Cheers, AstroCog (talk) 15:11, 5 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I see that the paragraph you added was from History of the camera, and that is where all the other sources on the internet were copying from. It is OK to reuse information from other Wikipedia articles, but in the edit summary, you should provide attribution by noting where the information came from. Since this article is written in American english, it is appropriate for "movie camera" to come before "cine camera" in a sentence. Cheers, AstroCog (talk) 15:19, 5 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hey Astro, Thanks for pointing out. I will keep in mind in future.

I have made some changes again keeping 2015 in mind. Please review and correct if any. Please find explanation

I believe that the lead image should be of a digital camera. Hence replaced it. I have again replaced it with a better one. If image quality still not acceptable, please try to find out the best photo available on wiki. Try to keep a digital camera as a lead image. Other cameras can always appear in history section. Made gallery of images at center. Aligned images alternatively left and right. Changed film formats to formats. I would add plate formats as well as digital formats in future. Updated practice, availabilty of cameras as of 2015. Digital cameras (almost all of them) record both image and video, monochrome and color. Hence updated the same.

Also i cant find a meaningful sequence in Camera#Camera_designs. Please try to arrange the titles in a particular sequence... say chronology. Thanks. GeorginaMat (talk)

An image of a digital camera is a good suggestion. I will look for an image that shows a digital camera from the front. As for the camera design section, you're right that it needs work. In the future, the image gallery will go away, as image galleries in articles of this type are probably not appropriate (see, WP:IG. Probably what will happen is that the best images will be used to illustrate the different designs of cameras. Cheers, AstroCog (talk) 19:17, 7 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
